So glad we happened to be in the area and tried this place for lunch. The restaurant has a very Japanese feel to it. You place your order on the tablet, there is just one guy working in there who makes the food and places it on the counter. The decor is simple and just right. The food is the best food ever! I had the rice paper wrap with tofu in it. I could only eat half as I was so full. The seasoning on the fries is so good.. and the cucumber salad was top notch. Even the drinks in the cooker area were very interesting that I had never seen before. It's very clear that this is a very well thought out restaurant. The only feedback I would give is to add a couple of options for vegan gluten free in the menu. Zenwich - Tasty Food, Lacking Warmth My family and I recently visited Zenwich and tried a little bit of everything--two sandwiches and two rice bowls. Let's start with the good: the sandwiches were delicious, with standout bread that really elevated the meal. While I wouldn't go out of my way to make a special trip just for them, they were definitely enjoyable and well-executed. The rice bowls earned a solid 7.5 from my husband and son. Flavorful and filling, but maybe missing that little extra something to make them truly memorable. Where Zenwich unfortunately fell flat was the customer service. We visited around 5 PM on a Friday and there was only one person working. Not only were we not greeted when we walked in, but we stood at the counter for several minutes without even being acknowledged. I even saw another customer politely thank the staff member after asking for a napkin, and he didn't so much as look up in response. It left the whole experience feeling impersonal. I go here just for the truffle fries. My family members all have to get their own because the fries are too good to share. Sandwiches are good, not a big fan of the basil crab cake. Excited that they're offering bowls now, they are big and filling, but the brisket teriyaki one wasn't my favorite so I'm looking forward to trying the others. A chill spot to take a friend. Met Chai at the register while using the order screen. Asked if they still served potato chips and he tossed me a bag, no charge? My friend and I split 2 Spicy Garlic Shrimps, one on Ciabatta, the other in Rice Paper. My non-adventurous friend couldn't deal with rice paper but, enjoyed the sandwich bread. I was surprised by the still-hot shrimp in the wrap but, not over-cooked. The aioli sauce added just the right amount of "sweet & spicy". Was pretty bummed when their two other locations closed down as those were more convenient for me to get to and had been craving their garlic shrimp for a while when I realized that I was pretty close to Elmhurst yesterday. I put in an an order and was happy that the original location makes their spicy garlic shrimp rice wrap just as plump and good as the others did. The greens, flash fried shrimp, spicy aioli and quinoa is such a perfect mixture. Ordered online using through their website around 6:30pm and the food was ready to go in the 10 mins it took for me to get there. Staff was nice and I even got to use points that I had saved through Toasttab to get $5. Although I'd love for another one to open closer to me again, I am glad that there is still at least one Zenwich around. read more

I can't believe that we had never had a sandwich from Zenwich before. We have really been missing out on some delicious sandwiches. Not only were they delicious, but, they did not skimp on the ingredients. In fact, the sandwiches were stuffed. They were nice and helpful, but it took a little while and they seemed like they were in a rush. Korean cheese steak on bread -- this was super flavorful. They are very generous with meat and sauce. It got a bit too strongly flavored at the end but I had milk tea to help. I particularly like the roasted mushroom chunks, so instead of slices they had chunks which packed more juice within each cut. Milk tea -- one of the most legit milk tea I've had outside of Asia. I love that the fragrance of tea and the bitterness comes through and not just sweetness. No boba though, might have to order separately. Thai BBQ Pork in rice paper-- this is like a burrito sized spring roll, which was actually really good. I love the veggie choices they picked that goes in. The cilantro and jalapeño really brings out the flavors of everything else. I took it home to eat but the wrap survived the 30 min drive, though some of the sauces leaked out. I also love how low carb this is. The only thing I'd add at home next time is probably make my own sweet chili peanut sauce for dipping. Basil Crab Cake red quinoa bowl-- this was very generous amount of food, filling the whole bowl. I love love love that they included arugula in the greens. I'm also very intrigued by the carrot cuts they are like spiral fries. I like that some of the veggies don't have sauce and the cole slaw portion does! The crab cake is fried and cut like katsu but smelled extra good because of the cumin. You can actually taste the crab flavor. I also love the sauce it came in, not overly sweet. All their cucumbers are pickled sweet. Fries-- my kids love how thin the fries cuts are, both chips and fries. The house seasoning is delicious, it's savory, spicy, AND sweet because of the sugar crystals! Ordering wise, they take online or kiosk, they don't really take orders so the staff is just in the back cooking. Which is actually good because there's no miscommunication and they can focus on doing a fantastic job on food. The kiosk is super easy to use, and the language is very friendly and not misleading at all. I have yet to try the online portal. Packaging wise I love that they use mostly paper containers and the fork is biodegradable, and I napkins are of very good quality. Location wise it has a plaza at an intersection so plenty of parking places. But getting out of it it's kinda tricky because it exits out onto a traffic light with a stop sign. I went to this place once and just thinking about it, makes me want to return. Parking is ample, you can find a spot easily. The restaurant itself isn't big so seating is limited. So excited for this sandwich shop because the menu had both of my favorite things - shrimp AND crab, and also because I had heard the food was fantastic. Upon getting there, I absolutely loved the sparse ambience - it's very reminiscent of small Japanese restaurants in Japan. Simple in decor, clean, limited menus, and food done right. We grabbed our drinks first, coz there was just such a fun variety of drinks - I grabbed the Elite Boba drink, and hubby grabbed a Lilikpi Lychee drink. The Boba drink was fantastic, and well balanced. But that lychee drink was an ABSOLUTE marvel! Now on to the sandwich - I chose a crab cake sandwich for my sanwi h but added truffle fries and the additional drink for a charge. I must say, this is the cheapest I've ever ordered truffle fries. Once ordered, the chef went to work - this made me super happy, that I wasn't going to be eating a soggy, pre-fried crab cake patty. Our sandwich and fries came out piping hot. The fries were nice and crispy, with the truffle seasoning nicely homogenized with the fries. How the chef got that to happen is beyond me - but I was NOT complaining. These fries were SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! Honestly, kind of pre-emptive, but I already knew I liked the fries more than anything else I would put in my mouth. Lol Now onto this sandwich... the ciabatta was crusty and spongey at the same time (awesome), the arugula and aioli made for a nice zippy contrast to the fried crab cake (good, good), and the crab cake was well seasoned and crispy (a thing of beauty, really!)...however, it was missing just ...something. Later on, as I kept eating, I realized that I was sorely missing an acidic component to cut through the fried patty taste. Some sort of pickled cabbage or dill pickles would have really picked up and brightened this sandwich - but overall, a pretty good sandwich. Food was very unique, definitely a great place if you're wanting to explore new cuisine. The drinks were also quite nice. I enjoyed the watermelon drinks they had available there. They played some very nice music and even though the dining area is a bit small it is very well decorated. This was place was recommended by a friend. It is our first time eating here. The staff behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered two of his recommendations both of which were delicious. Our food came fast and was nice and hot. The food just looked and tasted fresh. Phenomenal fusion sandwiches. Had the Korean cheese steak, and it knocked my socks off. Everything is handmade with skill and artistry, it almost feels a shame to eat the things they make. They also have seasoned fries that was cooked to absolute perfection. Perfect seasoning without being overpowering, and perfectly crisp. The only downside is you'll be tempted to eat two sandwiches. The Korean cheesesteak sandwich had insanely tender beef and was easily the best cheesesteak sandwich I've ever had. My wife had the pork belly sandwich in a rice wrapper. Having a sandwich delivered in a rice wrapper is genius. It's basically an easier to eat and less messy lettuce wrapped sandwich. This truly delivered and is a great option if you want something lighter than the cheesesteak sandwich. The truffle fries were great of course. And I loved the restaurant environment. I've had sandwiches from here a few times when visiting family in the area and everything if always fresh and delicious. I had the basil crabcake sandwich and it was excellent. They make everything to order and so the crabcakes were nice and crisp and the carrots and arugula were also still crisp so all had definitely been assembled shortly before packing up for carry out. The bread is fresh and tasty with the perfect crisp and chewy texture. The only downside is the online ordering is a little glitchy. Pickup times don't seem to be adjusted for what is actually going on in the restaurant. One time we had a pickup scheduled (after opening time of course) and the sole worker was just arriving so it took a bit. This time there were a bunch of folks placing large orders at the counter and there was again just one worker and no one else to handle the online orders. So...we've learned to order from here only when we aren't on a tight timeline. The sandwiches are really good though so we do still like coming here. read more

This place closes at 7pm, put in a take out order online shortly after 6. We arrived at 6:45pm and when we got there my wife went to the door, it was locked and a man came to the door, opened it a small amount and rudely said "we're closed" before quickly trying to close it again and she stated that we had ordered online and we were here for pick up. He grabbed the food, handed it to her through the small gap in the door and then closed it and locked it without saying anything to her. At this point, I'm not even going to tell you about the food.
