White Lotus & Yakumi were our favorites!!
Tracy W.

Loved our dinner at Sushi Roku Santa Monica! The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance was excellent too. We dined outside and had a beautiful view toward the ocean and good people watching.

Harper M.

Amazing experience at the bar here! Sushi was nuts, Mike and Megan were an absolute delight as bartenders, and a beautiful view of the ocean. Highly recommend (everything) but especially the crispy rice with tuna. Was so good we came back two days in a row.

Japanese Fried Chicken

Ordered this on door dash so I have nothing to say about service/ambiance. For the food, I ordered these items: * Sushi Box with Baked Crab HandRoll 6/10 It came with 5 nigiri that I did not really enjoy, they didn't taste too fresh. The hand roll was okay, I like the wrapping. * American Waygu Potstickers 7/10 The Gyoza Sauce did not pair well with these but standing alone, they were pretty alright. I would not think they are waygu though they just taste like ground beef. * Popcorn Shrimp Jalepeño Roll 1/10 I did not like this, just tasted like a mouthful of gluttony. Popcorn shrimp is good on its own & does not belong in a sushi roll * Japanese Fried Chicken 8/10 Favorite thing i ordered. It is not anything crazy but it tasted really good & came with a yummy creamy-cilantro sauce.

Toro carpaccio (with oscietra caviar)

Food was so good! And staff were very friendly! I can't stop thinking about the toro carpaccio with caviar...

Chef's special (market price ~$80 without tax). Tasted good.

Good sake, good vibes , good sushi. Pricier than most. Location is good, if you get patio seating then u experience the hustle of ocean ave and cool breeze of the pacific (I was seated indoors though )

Delicious as Usual! Definitely pricey. I dine here all the time. My bill is average $300-$400 MAX with 4 people and this time I was with 2 little girls and our bill was $600. Not sure what happened.

We had a wonderful experience here. Our pre Oscar dinner here was top notch and I can't say enough good things about this place. Great staff, ambience, food and drinks. Location is right across the ocean. Absolutely recommend coming here. Thank you so much.

Roku was delicious! The rolls, hand rolls, and miso cod were all fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent, our waitress was so kind, and the entire staff was warm and attentive. We sat outside, and when it got a little chilly, they turned on the heat lamps right away, making it super cozy. The cocktails were great too, especially the watermelon margarita. I'll definitely be back! Oh, and they validate parking, which is always a plus.

Skinny pieces of bluefin tuna and yellowtail sushi
Tatiana M.

Extremely disappointed by this place I'm kind of in shock. This place is beautiful inside and out a really nice spot to take your partner or family aesthetic wise. Now here where they lost me I ordered 2 orders of tuna and two orders of yellowtail somehow they missed one order of yellowtail, which is fine because we had appetizers but not fine because it's probably the thinnest slice of meat I've ever seen on a piece of sushi.. ratio was way off... Then we got our roll the white lotus completely lacked any flavor wouldn't order again We ordered garlic edamame, shishito peppers, 3 orders of sushi, one roll, and one drink. Cost was way too high for what was given Our server was constantly lost we had to ask over servers and staff to find him so we could pay and leave we weren't happy here. Come here for drinks and maybe appetizers don't come here thinking you're going to get your moneys worth when it comes to the fish

We celebrated our anniversary at Sushi Roku and it couldn't have been more perfect. Grant (good hair) and Anthony (amazing smile) made us feel truly special -- their kindness, smiles, and energy turned our evening into a beautiful memory. The food was delicious, the atmosphere heartfelt, and every detail felt personal. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We'll never forget it -- and we'll be recommending Sushi Roku to everyone we love.

Everything was absolutely spot on. Refreshing cocktails, the fish was fresh and had that great melt in your mouth experience. Hamachi Serrano was out of this world. We sat outside during sunset and received fantastic service from Ian. Thanks for taking care of us!

Japanese Fried Chicken Tatsuta Age
Lynnette S.

We finally tried this restaurant out. The fact that they allowed dogs was a plus. They even had snacks for our baby. The Manager Andrew Ha and Melanie P took really good care of us. Everyone was very pleasant. The restaurant is pleasantly located at the corner of Ocean Avenue with the view of the ocean. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We had a great meal. I felt like some fried chicken and my husband had baked cod. We also had a full Hanabi - Yellowtail, a super yummy roasted multi coloured cauliflower, and spicy cucumber sunomono.

Extremely cute, green, and well decorated. Price was extremely reasonable- spent around $230 (including tip) for all the below + a drink. Let's get into the food. Appetizers: Pork Dumplings - 8/10 (GF rating 8/10) These were great. The inside was solid, outside was acceptable, and crunch on top was great. The sauce absolutely made it. Quite a good choice. Curry Puffs - 9.5/10 (GF rating 10/10) Delicious. You won't regret getting these. Pastry outside is amazing, inside is even better, tamarind makes it EVEN better. Just keeps getting better. Get them. Chicken Larb - 9/10 (GF rating 7.5/10) Very tasty. The sauce it's in is amazing and the flavor profile is just great. Highly recommend. Crispy Pork Belly Salad - 8/10 (GF rating 9/10) Also very good. The flavors all fit together extremely well. I'm not a fan of pork belly but this was done great. Main: Beef short rib - 10/10 (GF rating 10/10) Holy shit. We were so full at this point, it was unfortunate we couldn't finish this, because it was so good. Most tender beef I have ever had. I went at it with a fork, expecting to have a tiny bit of give, but it just fell off the bone, effortlessly. Easier than gliding through softened butter. I also normally don't like fatty pieces due to the texture/chewiness, and was worried I wouldn't like this dish as short rib is quite fatty. I absolutely LOVED the fat on this. It was impeccably rendered. Genuinely the best beef short rib I have ever had. The sauce and cilantro + peanuts it was paired with was a perfect flavor combination as well. Came with a delicious bread as well (naan-esque?) Dessert: Underwhelming, unfortunately. Got all 3. Thai Tea Pudding - 6/10 (GF rating 2/10) Pudding underneath was decent. Boba on top with the sauce was not. Boba not marinated in honey, just chewy bland boba! The custard itself was also not very reminiscent of Thai tea. Vanilla Soft Serve Sundae - 6/10 (GF rating- 5/10) Vanilla ice cream itself was very good. The salted caramel, not particularly, nor the Milo brownie on top of it, and the peanuts didn't pair well with it either. Very mid. Strawberry Basil Shaved Ice - 2/10 (GF rating 7.8/10) GF LOVED THIS. Of all the desserts here, she thought this was the best. I just didn't like this one a single bit. The shaved ice on top was fine but it was a very thin layer and was more about what was underneath (passionfruit pieces, tapioca-like balls, and coconut), which just wasn't it for me.

Make reservations because the place fills up quickly over the lunch hour. The patio is where it is at. No idea if there is parking -- we walked from our office at the Colorado Center. It had been a while since I had been here and they have added to their menu. I love the bowls and that you can make your own by picking the base (noodles - rice or vermicelli, rice -- jasmine or brown), choose a sauce (garlic lime, peanut or sweet chili), adding a protein (tofu and mushroom, chicken, pork, beef or shrimp) and finally you can add a topping (crispy onions, yams, leek crisps or pesto) -- those are $.75 extra. My bowl was so delicious -- I had the Tofu and Shitake mushroom bowl and it was so delicious and fresh I wanted to lick the plate. I also decided to try a black sesame latte -- it was ok, not as good as I wanted it to be. There is also a little kitchen for a quick take away meal if you don't have time -- if you never went to the bathroom you might not know it existed because you have to walk through the restaurant (from the patio) to see the take away section. The service is sometimes great and sometimes spotty depending on how busy they are.

Every dish tasted thoughtful, unique, and restaurant-week-level refined. We ordered the nasi goreng fried rice, noodles, beef rendang, yam dish, and pea salad. Flavor-wise? Almost everything was incredible. The beef rendang especially was packed with flavor, and every dish felt elevated and intentional. My only reason for knocking off a star is the value. The portions were tiny -- not "small plates" tiny, but more like one-to-two bites each while still being priced aggressively. By the end, I felt more impressed than full. If the portions matched the quality, this would've easily been a 5-star experience. That said, if you care more about exceptional food than portion sizes, this place is worth trying. She told us that we could be seated at the bar immediately, which is what we opted for. She placed us at a lower portion of the bar with two seats, which was perfect. The bartender, Justin took our drink and dinner order and I have to say, he makes amazing cocktails! We had egg rolls for an appetizer, which arrived very quickly and went well with our cocktails. I ordered a rye old-fashioned and my wife ordered a house creation, "Jesuit's Tea Party," which she enjoyed. For our entrees, I ordered Hainan Chicken and my wife had the Walnut Shrimp. Mine was really good, but I have to say I like the Walnut Shrimp better. They have their breading skills dialed in, so next time I think I'd go with something fried. All in all a great experience. The restaurant was previously called Status Kuo and then rebranded to Little Fatty. It is also attached to a bar called Accomplice Bar. [Parking]: Metered parking only and I was able to find a spot two blocks away on Grand View Blvd. [Reversation]: For parties of 6 and smaller, reservations can be made on Resy. For parties of 8 and larger, there is a minimum spend of $75 per person prior to tax & gratuity. No-show fee = $15 per person. [Experience]: The receptionist greeted our party just outside of the restaurant and checked us in. Outdoor tables were available, but our party opted for indoor seating. The lighting was dim with a romantic and casual dinner vibe. At the end of the meal, the staff offered our table hot towels to clean our hands. [Menu]: Menu highlights on Resy include Chinese BBQ Pork, XO Fatty Noodles, Walnut Shrimp. Other Yelp highlighted items include Orange Chicken, Beef Roll, and Hainan Chicken. Burger Tuesday is offered ONLY at the bar. A bowl of rice is an extra $4.00. The staff also gave our table a cute cocktail menu with drinks named after each LA neighborhood. *** Squid Ink Xiao Long Bao (shrimp and pork soup dumplings, fresh ginger - $18.00): Only came with 6 pieces of dumplings. The dough was a bit thick and the flavor was just alright. XO Fatty Noodles (rolled rice noodles, XO sauce, bean sprouts, garlic chives, fried shallots - $22.00): The noodles tasted slightly salty. I couldn't tell whether I had sliced pork belly or flat noodles in the dim lighting and it turned out to be thick slices of flat noodles. Orange Chicken (orange soy-based sauce, dried chilies, orange zest - $22.00): Super crispy orange chicken, but it was crunchy type of crispy and tasted a bit dry. Walnut Shrimp (mayo, candied walnuts, sesame seeds, red cabbage - $25.00): his dish came with lettuce and looked really nice. The flavor was solid and it tasted very healthy. *** Personally it was an overpriced experience for mediocre Asian fusion food. I would much rather visit Jade Rabbit in Santa Monica for cheaper and more delicious Asian fusion food or Din Tai Fung in Santa Monica for a more consistent dumpling and noodle experience. The only reason to come here is for the date-night vibe. Honestly, the food tasted more like Northern Chinese fusion cuisine than Taiwanese fusion cuisine.
