Pro tip: jump on OpenTable and book ahead! The real reason you come here.. the food absolutely delivered! Fresh, vibrant, and delicious across the board. The cappuccino was also genuinely excellent. Service was quick and efficient throughout the restaurant. My wife did need to send back a poached egg that was slightly overdone. This review is for the Sesame Einspanner and Millionaire Bacon only. This specialty drink is phenomenal. I knew I liked black sesame but now I know I LOVE SESAME. This drink is creamy, flavorful, and strong and I ordered 3 over a two day period. Be aware - this is not a regular old latte. It is neither hot nor iced. It is perfect creamy sesame delicousness. The Santa Monica location is fun as it's very close to the beach. They do offer an hour and a half validation (ask your server) of parking underneath the restaurant and there's also metered street parking. The interior is super cute and if the weather is good the patio is a nice option. Millionaire's bacon is one of the stars of the menu. We tried a variety of the menu and the chicken croffle didn't disappoint and the French toasts all were great. It's good for groups. Knowing Sweet Maple is popular on a Sunday morning, we made sure to make a reservation and were quickly seated outside when our party arrived after our checkin. The staff was great. They checked in on us and answered all our questions. For the food, we were disappointed to hear that all the asian inspired items had shellfish in them (one of my party had a mild shellfish allergy), but the menu was large, so we had many options to choose from. - 5/5 chicken croffle - the chicken was seasoned just right, and the croffle was indulgent but not too much - 3.5/5 Marnier toast - as someone who loves french toast from just about anywhere, this french toast was crispy but just didn't stand out - 4/5 sweet maple scramble - the potatoes, scone and the scramble were great. The meyer lemon hollandaise...took the scramble from great to too much. It was very heavy and settle in our stomachs as we ate - 3/5 oat hojicha latte - I asked for less sweet, and all I could taste was black sugar syrup. Let me just start off by really making a point here. I am not the biggest fan of brunch- I think it is usually overpriced, with sub par flavors, and I leave wanting more. I go to brunch because my girlfriend loves the food selection and mimosas. Now that you know the context of my review, I can honestly say that Sweet Maple broke my streak of disappointment with brunch and is now my #1 brunch spot! We came here for the start of our 10-year anniversary celebration. I was scouring Yelp for brunch spots that seemed adequate. Then I came across this gem. Their menu is extensive with robust and hearty meals. I do not like breakfast items, but when I saw the Korean fried chicken and Omurice, I was shocked and locked-in for this experience. The reservation was set for 8:15. Upon arriving, multiple members of the staff welcomed us was warmth as we walked to our table. I was told the gold standard of service contained multiple check-ins from the staff and constant refills whenever the drinks are half empty. They followed both of these points to the letter! I felt taken care of and all of the staff were always doing something. Also, the food came out insanely fast! I was not ready for all of it to arrive piping hot and all at the same time! The setting is very beautiful. The decor is nice and bright, the chairs are soft and comfy, and the colors go so well together. Moreover, even when busy, the seating areas are still breathable. Last but certainly not least, the food. I was blown away from the ratios between the price, flavor, and serving size of the food. We ordered a mimosa flight, Korean fried chicken, tornado galbi omurice, and the jam juicy Lucy burger. The meat on the burger was nicely seasoned, it had a generous service of fries, tomato's, and greens. The fried chicken had 5 good sized wings and were crispy. The Omurice was nice and rich. Honestly, I would've been fine if it did not come with short rib because the flavors were already so good with just the rice and egg! The portions were impressive. We both left filled to the brim! 5/5. I will be returning to this location to really put it to the test. We recently tried Sweet Maple and overall had a great experience. They have a lot of novelty bacon dishes and bacon sides, which seem to be very popular and are probably a highlight for many people. Since I don't eat bacon, I didn't try them, but they definitely seem to be one of the restaurant's specialties. We ordered the Florentine Eggs Benedict and the Blueberry Cloud French Toast. The Eggs Benedict was definitely the highlight for me. Mine didn't have any meat, but it was still incredibly flavorful. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the breakfast potatoes were crispy and unlike any breakfast potatoes I've had before. The Blueberry Cloud French Toast, on the other hand, was a bit overhyped in my opinion. It looked beautiful, but it was just too sweet for my taste. Between the cream, fruit, and everything else on top, it was a lot. I only managed a couple of bites before it became overwhelming. It's also very fried and quite heavy, and I felt a little sick afterward. If you love rich, indulgent breakfast foods, you'll probably enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. The service was excellent. Even though the restaurant was busy, we were seated quickly without a reservation. Our waiter was attentive, and the food came out fresh and surprisingly fast. As for the atmosphere, the indoor dining area is really cute and inviting. We sat outside, which was fine, although there's not much of a view since it's right along the sidewalk. I finally made it to Sweet Maple in Santa Monica after hearing so many people rave about it, and it definitely lived up to the hype! My husband, some friends, and I went for Sunday brunch. When we arrived, the line outside looked like people were waiting to get into a nightclub, so I was expecting a long wait. To our surprise, we were seated in less than 20 minutes. We started with the bacon flight, and it was absolutely delicious--definitely a must-order. We also went with the bottomless mimosas, which are served family-style for the table. Just a heads-up: everyone at the table has to participate if you want the bottomless option. It was worth it, though! They offered four different flavors, and the rosé mimosa was my favorite. I ordered the noodle dish after spotting it on a nearby table--it looked too good not to try. It was a fun, elevated take on Cup Noodles and tasted great. While I'm glad I ordered it, next time I'd probably try something different because there are so many other dishes on the menu that looked amazing. I was a bit upset because the line was super long then after waiting for nearly an hour to just put my name down they only had bar seating available and a table would've taken another 30 mins. They had like 6 bar seats available too so it was pretty irritating that you couldn't just walk in and find a seat at the bar. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, even offering great recommendations to help narrow down the options. Very well lit interior and plenty of outdoor seating (although you are pretty close to pedestrians which is why we chose to sit inside). If you plan on visiting, making a reservation is highly recommended. I was seated very quickly, whereas the line for walk-ins was extremely long. The biggest downside to the experience is the parking situation, which is both expensive and overly complicated. The garage is located downstairs and requires you to scan a QR code, preselect and pay for your duration on a website, and then call a phone number just to get the entrance gate to open. It makes no sense why they do not use a traditional paper ticket or post-payment system, and there was no obvious way to get the parking validated. When we stopped by the day before, I specifically asked about kid-friendly options since the girls are extremely picky eaters. I was told they could accommodate them from the kids menu which had pancakes, eggs, fruit, and meat, which was perfect. Based on that, I made a reservation through Yelp (which required a credit card hold, I would be charge $15 per person if we canceled or made reservation changes). We arrived 10 minutes early and were seated quickly. The table setup was awkward--we had to move the table ourselves just to be able to sit down, then pull the table back towards us after we sat down. Unfortunately, the experience quickly went downhill from there. Our server Kou P. did not come across as welcoming and seemed visibly annoyed when one of the kids asked for apple juice (which they didn't have) while the others ordered water. What was most shocking and honestly inappropriate for a place like this, was Kou's skirt. It was extremely revealing to the point where it made us uncomfortable. That alone made us consider leaving, but we stayed to avoid being charged the cancellation fee. As she walked, we can see her bottom cheeks, so she was wearing nothing underneath or it was very skimpy. I feel like she made a couple points to clean the bar table so she can be looked at as she was leaning over a bit. When it came time to order, things got even more frustrating. Despite being told the day before that accommodations could be made, Kou refused to allow the kids to order from the kids' menu because they were over the age limit. She questioned their ages directly and insisted they could only share the pancake order instead. This was very disappointing for the kids. We ended up ordering a couple stacks of pancakes, which were inconsistent (one had 6, another had 8), and items we were told would be included--like blueberry marmalade--never came out. The reason is because she said the kids are picky. So she only brought out syrup, butter, whipped cream and blueberries. Service overall was bad. Our server never checked in on us, and every time we needed something, we had to flag down other staff just to get her attention. Those staff members couldn't even bring out extra syrup for us. The food itself was just okay. Our main dishes were hot, but the "Millionaire's Bacon"--which the restaurant is known for--came out cold and tasted like something I easily make at home. Definitely not worth the hype or price. To top it off, a 20% gratuity was automatically added, which felt absolutely inappropriate for the level of service we received. Sadly the food didn't live up to the experience. The menu overall didn't feel very healthy, and the crab sandwich I ordered had very little crab -- mostly greens and onions. My friend's blueberry toast was also just okay. The latte was way too sweet. Parking was also a bit inconvenient due to nearby construction, so street parking wasn't an option and we had to use a parking lot. Very disappointing experience. I've never encountered a restaurant that requires parties of more than six people to meet a minimum spending amount. I completely understand a credit card hold or a no-show fee, but forcing customers to spend a certain amount is unreasonable. They also emailed us a lengthy, unnecessary form to complete just to make a reservation and required us to choose our meals in advance, which takes away from the dining experience. Large parties bring more business to a restaurant, so these policies make no sense. Because of this, I canceled my reservation and chose to dine elsewhere.
