Came here Saturday night for a dinner for 4 around 6pm and managed to get a table with just a 15 minute wait even though the place was packed. The ambiance is immaculate. We loved the big banzai style trees in the center of the restaurant and the cozy booth we got was perfect for our double date. Even the bathroom was on-theme and decked out with gold sinks and a flower arrangement on the counter. So cute. We had to ask for the drink menu because they forgot to give us one, but we ordered a small bottle of sake for the table and two large Sapporo to share. The beer came quickly but they dropped off the sake without cups and we had to flag someone down to get those. We ordered 2 of the crispy rice with spicy tuna for the table, I got a Santa Monica Roll, my husband got the Yakiniku plate with beef and veggies that came with a side salad and miso soup, and the other couple both got one of the Chef's specials. The food was incredible, the fish is so fresh it just melts in your mouth. Unfortunately there were a few hiccups. The timing of the food was a bit off as the meals came before the shared plate, and our friends soup was delivered after his sushi as well. Then they just completely forgot about my Santa Monica roll it seems, because we had to ask about it and that wasn't delivered to the table until after everyone else was nearly finished with their entire meal. If the star rating were based solely on atmosphere, it would be a 5. The place is beautiful and welcoming, with authentic Japanese objects and materials, a center divider of large bonsais in emerald-colored moss, and a palette of aqua and espresso that conjures the ocean and tranquility. Immediately you feel transported to a place you want to stay for a while. The problem is, you will be staying for more than a while because the service is consistently suh-lowwwwwww. From getting water for the table to the check, you will be waiting for-ev-errrrrr. Initially, we thought they were just adjusting to their bigger space in their new location across the street from their old space. But no, months later, no change. And it's not for a lack of waitstaff, either, because there's a sufficient number of friendly looking attendees who are anything but attentive. For minutes on end, there would be not a single waitperson, busperson or server on the floor, just a couple of sushi chefs standing behind their counter. When we'd finally see someone come around the corner, we'd perk, only to watch them walk past every diner with a benevolent smile, never stopping at a single table, and then disappearing again. Getting an iced tea refill took the entire meal! Still though, we gave them another chance, as the food had been good enough to try again, and after a stressful week the calming atmosphere held allure. Things didn't get off to the best start when the vegetable gyoza that had been extraordinarily good was no longer available--despite still being on the menu. The seafood alternative wasn't nearly as good, but okay, fine. Having come from a meeting that had gone too long, my partner and I were both famished. He order a Bento box with three items; I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon with Shrimp Tempura. It was taking a while to get our food, but okay, the place is beautiful and it was nice to relax. Eventually, my partner was delivered his giant wooden plank of dishes and we waited for our server to return with my bowl of udon. Except that he didn't. We waited and waited. Finally a young guy with a pitcher of water emerged and we flagged him down and told him we were still waiting for my order. It was unclear if he understood, but at last our server emerged--empty-handed. He was actually about to pass right by us, but my partner stopped him with an elevated tone of voice to point out that only one of us had food. He nodded. HE NODDED! We were trying to be decent in explaining that my partner's food was now cold because he was waiting for me to be served (and on top of it, he had given me most of his salad out of sympathy). We were expecting him to offer to remake the order. He did not. My bowl of scalding soup arrived 15 MINUTES after his bento box, which was placed before me as if no time had passed. I looked up at him and said, "I assume you'll be comping our meal after how unpleasant a wait this has been," and he just looked at me. "You do get that people like to be served at the same time," I persisted, and he just looked at me with that same benevolent, apathetic smile. My heart was racing as my anger raged, but he wasn't giving in and I didn't want to make a scene. At least I finally had food. My bowl of udon was so hot it was clear it had just been made, but fine, I was starving. I was at least expecting this to be the best Nabeyaki Udon I'd ever had. Only, it was the worst. The mushrooms were unbelievably inedible, like woody steak gristle with no flavor. The fish cakes must've been sliced by a blind person in a hurry, as each was thick on one side, thin on the other, and no two were alike. The chicken was hard to find and tough, and the soup was flavorless. The spinach and the shrimp tempura were at least adequate. Our server was too afraid to come back to ask how everything was, and he even got a generic stand-in to bring us the check, which did not reflect the ineptitude of the service we were subjected to in the way of a discount or no charge at all. Jonathan is our server and he's been very helpful! I'm excited to someday try the tokusen, which isn't always available because it's dependent on the fish. There is a new menu, which unfortunately increased the price of the omakase a lot, but it was always a steal to get that original omakase and I'm not totally surprised. They had a special menu just for the evening, which was super cool, and one of my favorite parts was the spin-the-wheel event. With every featured sake cocktail/sake of the night, you got a chance to spin and win prizes like appetizers, crudo, sake gift sets, and more. It made the whole night feel extra fun and interactive! I found this spot on TikTok since I was looking for a good place close to Beverly Hills and I'm SUPER happy I tried it. The fish was so fresh and delicious, they did beautiful cuts for the nigiri. I recommend the yellowtail belly, baked salmon roll, and the Santa Monica's roll. The service was friendly and inviting. It's perfect for a date night or even a friend's night out. When you reach the age of 102, every day is a gift. My grandmother is a member of the 0.03% of the US population who can call themselves centenarians. She has outlived her youngest sister who was at Manzanar. She raised three daughters, cared for three grandchildren, and delights in seeing her four great-grandchildren grow up. So when it's her birthday, we try to come together and celebrate with her. Today, nine of us gathered over good food and great company. But it was NOT at Noma Sushi. We assumed that Noma would accommodate our family as they did last year when we celebrated her 101st birthday at their old location and had a great experience. That was not the case. We were told that we had to pay $200 if we wanted to sit together and have lunch there today. Without exception, that was the policy. If we were one less, there would have been no problem sitting us together without the exorbitant fee. Now, if we were a huge party asking for a private room, I would understand this extra cost. If they had a long waiting list of patrons, I would be much more understanding of the fee. But with one extra person in our family, willing to sit in other areas of the restaurant as long as we could be somewhat close to each other in a nearly empty restaurant, were we being unreasonable? Apparently, yes, we were being unreasonable because no, that would not be possible. I suppose that restaurants have the right to refuse service to people, which they did, and I am absolutely flabbergasted. The servers were rigid in their policy. The sushi chefs were staring without much regard to any of us. And no one at the restaurant seemed to have an ounce of empathy for my poor 102-year-old grandmother. With a walker and at her age, she needed to sit down. No one acknowledged her or offered her a seat. That lack of sensitivity was salt in the wound. We were given menus and seats only when one of my family members offered to sit elsewhere, as in going to a different restaurant. Why? Because now we were a party of eight. No, thank you. How can we sit and enjoy what should have been a joyous occasion when now our family is upset, frustrated, and divided? When asked to speak with a manager or the owner, we were told we could not do so. That they were not available until the dinner service. To me, it sounded like a lot of excuses and a lack of customer service training. When my aunt was finally given a phone number and name to follow up with, it was to the restaurant's main number. Perhaps the servers really didn't know how to reach the manager or owner, which seems strange and highly unlikely. And perhaps the servers were new and inexperienced, which seems much more likely, but unequivocally inexcusable. While my aunt was finally able to reach a manager to share our disappointing experience, no amount of apologizing or trying to placate us with offers to come dine with them can change what happened. A birthday celebration comes once a year, and we'll be lucky if my grandmother continues to be healthy to ring in 103. Food is meant to bring people together, and dining out is a privilege. But the entire experience at Noma was just awful, and we took our business elsewhere. If I could give zero stars here, I would. read more

Prior to our visit, we checked on Yelp and there was a 1-11 min wait around 6pm on a Saturday night. So we slowly headed there and arrived around 6:20pm. Either the online wait time is wrong or they had a dinner rush because we eventually was sat at 7:30pm. They do have a parking lot in the back but there aren't many spaces. The location is across the street from the previous location and it is WAY bigger than before. Definitely an upgrade. It looks very modern and is very spacious. The lobby area was big enough to house everyone that was waiting. The hostess was nice and kept updating us with our wait time. By the time we were seated, our kids were STARVING. Our server came by and greeted us as we sat down. He said he would return shortly. Right off, we spotted pieces of leftover rice on the dishes that were set up on the table for us. At least 3 items (soy sauce plate and 2 small plates) had rice on them. We put them to the side for the server. We grabbed the menu checklist to start ordering but it was already filled out so we had to wait to ask for another one. When our server came by, we said we wanted to put some items in and he said "Ok but let me take your drinks first". We kind of wanted to put some appetizers in as our party was getting pretty hangry. We waved him down and he said "I'll be back in 2 minutes". By the time he returned, we were ready to order all our dishes. The quality and quantity of the food were great. The sashimi was fresh and were nice cuts. The meat items were cooked and seasoned well. The fried items were nice and crispy. The sashimi came out pretty quick but we waited quite a while for the bento boxes. My son ordered udon and that did not arrive until the very end and after I brought it to the servers attention. All in all, I thought it was OK. Nothing really stood out but it wasn't bad either. I did not like that there was old food on the new plates- as it should've been checked during set up (I used to be a server, I know the drill). We were in a booth towards the back of the restaurant and the booth was kind of covered (maybe for privacy) but it was hard to flag down a server when we needed stuff. For 6 adults and 2 kids, the price came out to about $530. read more

While their parking lot is small, it's rare for a sushi restaurant to have dedicated parking. The interior also boasts a very large space, a rarity in the LA sushi scene. This place is great for larger groups. You will also feel like you have been transported to Japan with its zen minimalist aesthetics. We decided to order the omakase to share between us both. we also ordered an extra hand roll, crab salad, shishito peppers, and a regular roll. The good news is the sushi is fresh for its moderate price. My finicky chum said she would come back, and so they have my blessing.
