    Gouka Chirashi (D)

I've been curious to try this place out, didn't realize this is the same Noma restaurant that I use to go to back when I was a Westsider. Now the new location is across the street from the old. Much bigger, upgraded, but I like how you still get an intimate setting especially if you're seated at one of the booths. They have their own parking in the back but street parking is also free street 6pm. Cane on a Wednesday night and the wait was less than 10 min. They got full bar:sake cocktails, beer, wine, sake selection and mocktails. We tried their Salmon collar which was on point and reasonably priced $15. Cucumber salad $7. We shared the Gouka Chirashi which was a good portion of assorted sashimi and came with miso soup and a hand roll. Best value! We also tried the Albacore delight, mouthful of fresh blue crab. Yum! We thought we'd order some Tori sushi but what we ordered was plenty for 2. Very fresh. Great space and service. Reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend.

Always craving sushi and was with a few friends in Santa Monica early on a Friday night It's a big place with a big parking lot in the back but the lot was full and so was the entrance when we walked in Put our name into the kiosk for a 30-minute wait time and stood around with lots of other people waiting. You can grab a drink while you wait which is always helpful... Service was friendly but slow as this very large restaurant was fully packed. We had softshell crab, albacore, snapper, scallop and a couple of rolls - all of it was good, none of it was great. And for around the same pricing, I know where to get much better Glad we came and had a good time - Quick tip - there is a bar as you walk in to the left. Instead of hanging out waiting for a table at the front, go grab a drink and stand where there is more room

The ambiance was so nice!! It was dimly lit but each table had a skylight that made the food look phenomenal!! The servers were amazing and very attentive. Dynamite California Roll - the mushrooms were very unique but delicious!! It was very juicy and made the roll much better Momo Sunset - it was a sweet drink that was much better after you mixed it all together Mori Mori cocktail - a favorite and really had a prominent pistachio flavor Black Cod appetizer - 10/10!!! It was very soft and would melt in your mouth!! It had a very very subtle charred/caramel flavor to it. Tornado Roll - this one was also unique with the potato shreds! It didn't have too much fish but we had some leftover scallops from our other roll that paired well with it Santa Monica Roll - a very solid roll! No rice, but had high quality, fatty fish. Would get again!

How have I never been here? Expect to be surprised once you walk in. It's a great place for legitimate sushi; the space immediately makes you forget it's on busy Wilshire. It is quaint and lovely, and the service was excellent. I ordered the Softshell Crab appetizer--it was nothing to write home about, as it was bland and the batter was thick. I wouldn't order that again. However, I had the Hiru Set, which came with sashimi, nigiri, sunomono, and miso soup. I loved it! The fish was great quality. I will definitely keep coming back

A legacy and tradition that lasts for a reason. visiting Noma feels like stepping into a old-school Japanese atmosphere. With over 40 years of tradition, it carries a deep sense of history. Now, due to a city redevelopment plan, they've begun a new chapter in a new space bigger, but still filled with that same nostalgic charm throughout. Our top recommendation is the chirashi ($49.95), featuring 12 pieces of super fresh sashimi, Comes with a handroll and topped with uni over rice. Also the omakase set sushi for $64.95, 11 set of sushi Comes with hand roll and tamago Dont forget to order some fresh oysters! Even in the busy city of Santa Monica, they have a big parking lot Ended it with some house crafted drinks. Special but nostalgic experience IG : socalhkfoodies

Tucked in Santa Monica is a spot that's been quietly perfecting sushi for over 40 years. Step inside and it feels like a soft escape to Japan--warm wood, delicate details, and a calm that settles in instantly. We leaned into a little bit of everything Noma sashimi -- 15 pieces, artfully plated like a scene from nature. Thick cuts, buttery, and effortlessly fresh. Alaska roll -- wrapped in soy paper, layered with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, crab, and avocado. Light, vibrant, and clean. Spider roll -- a must every time. Crisp soft shell crab, subtle crunch, and just enough texture in every bite. Bento combo -- tempura + pork katsu + California roll. Simple, comforting, and done right. Chirashi -- delicate cuts over tangy rice, soft and melt-in-your-mouth. Unpretentious, beautifully plated, and surprisingly approachable for omakase. A quiet gem with parking (yes, in Santa Monica).

Overall: Hit or miss, nothing truly standout Galbi bento -great value with a generous amount of vegetables Baked crab roll -decent Spicy tuna hand roll -great Toro cut roll -great Seared toro -not recommended, overly sweet Sushi-great quality overall Baby lobster roll -very generous portion, but overly sweet The new location is clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the service was good. Overall, a mix of good and average dishes, but nothing that really stands out enough to come back for.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted with the best welcome I've ever received from the host. The decor and ambiance were beautiful. The private booths are perfect for date night. I ordered the omakase set. 1st course: pickled veggies (beautiful) 2nd course: mushroom miso (huge portion) 3rd course: 10 nigiri (chewy) 4th course: eel nigiri, tamago, and a handroll (good) Overall, very cute spot for a multitude of occasions.

First time here and the food and service here is amazing. The ambiance here is incredible. I live close by and would love to come back. The place mat is cute as well. As for the "To Go" bags, it doesn't need to be stapled. You can use tape instead!

After 40+ years of tradition, Noma Sushi has reopened in a larger, more beautiful space just across from its original location The uni scrambled toast is so unique. The crispy rice with creamy spicy tuna was another favorite. The staff was nice What we ordered: * Crispy rice with creamy spicy tuna * Uni scrambled toast * Sushi & sashimi deluxe * Baked black cod * Pink Lady roll * Grilled mochi with green tea ice cream

Noma Sushi is a true Santa Monica classic with over 40 years of history, and their new location is the perfect evolution of that legacy. After spending decades in their original, much smaller space across the street, they've reopened in a larger, beautifully designed restaurant that still feels deeply authentic. Many of the original signs and decorative elements were brought over, giving the space a strong Japanese atmosphere while feeling fresh and welcoming. The food absolutely delivers. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was perfectly done, and the Gouka Chirashi served with clam miso soup and a yellowtail hand roll ($49.95) is an incredible value for the quality and presentation. The omakase course is a standout and very reasonably priced for the experience, and the uni scramble toast is a must-order. Service was excellent throughout, and a huge bonus for Santa Monica: free private parking in a large lot behind the building. A legendary sushi spot that has stayed true to its roots while starting an exciting new chapter.

Prior to our visit, we checked on Yelp and there was a 1-11 min wait around 6pm on a Saturday night. So we slowly headed there and arrived around 6:20pm. Either the online wait time is wrong or they had a dinner rush because we eventually was sat at 7:30pm. They do have a parking lot in the back but there aren't many spaces. The location is across the street from the previous location and it is WAY bigger than before. Definitely an upgrade. It looks very modern and is very spacious. The lobby area was big enough to house everyone that was waiting. The hostess was nice and kept updating us with our wait time. By the time we were seated, our kids were STARVING. Our server came by and greeted us as we sat down. He said he would return shortly. Right off, we spotted pieces of leftover rice on the dishes that were set up on the table for us. At least 3 items (soy sauce plate and 2 small plates) had rice on them. We put them to the side for the server. We grabbed the menu checklist to start ordering but it was already filled out so we had to wait to ask for another one. When our server came by, we said we wanted to put some items in and he said "Ok but let me take your drinks first". We kind of wanted to put some appetizers in as our party was getting pretty hangry. We waved him down and he said "I'll be back in 2 minutes". By the time he returned, we were ready to order all our dishes. The quality and quantity of the food were great. The sashimi was fresh and were nice cuts. The meat items were cooked and seasoned well. The fried items were nice and crispy. The sashimi came out pretty quick but we waited quite a while for the bento boxes. My son ordered udon and that did not arrive until the very end and after I brought it to the servers attention. All in all, I thought it was OK. Nothing really stood out but it wasn't bad either. I did not like that there was old food on the new plates- as it should've been checked during set up (I used to be a server, I know the drill). We were in a booth towards the back of the restaurant and the booth was kind of covered (maybe for privacy) but it was hard to flag down a server when we needed stuff. For 6 adults and 2 kids, the price came out to about $530.

Friend and I decided to come on a Friday evening. We were pleasantly surprised that this is their new location with their previous right across the street. While their parking lot is small, it's rare for a sushi restaurant to have dedicated parking. The interior also boasts a very large space, a rarity in the LA sushi scene. This place is great for larger groups. You will also feel like you have been transported to Japan with its zen minimalist aesthetics. We decided to order the omakase to share between us both. we also ordered an extra hand roll, crab salad, shishito peppers, and a regular roll. The good news is the sushi is fresh for its moderate price. My finicky chum said she would come back, and so they have my blessing. The salad want our favorite, but you gots to eat your vegetables.

I have been here twice, and this place is seriously good…read more My first visit was fantastic. We were on a girls' weekend in L.A. and spent the day touring my daughter's friend around all the famous landmarks the city has to offer. After driving out to the Santa Monica Pier, we had worked up a serious appetite. A quick Yelp search led us to this ramen restaurant, and we whipped the car around and made a beeline straight for it. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated on the patio. We were hoping for seats near the fire pit, but those are definitely a hot commodity and fill up fast. Our server was quick, friendly, and helpful with menu suggestions. I ordered the Spicy Vegan Creamy Ramen. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and I was really impressed with how accommodating they are for meatless diners. They have several vegetarian and vegan choices, and most dishes can be modified for most dietary preferences. Our food came out quickly, piping hot, and beautifully presented. One bite of my ramen and I was instantly in heaven. It was so good that I finished the entire bowl in record time. I would have ordered a second one, but I was completely full. I honestly feel like I could eat this every day of my life and never get tired of it. Our server kept our glasses full and checked on us regularly. The service was top-notch and made a relaxing end to a long day of sightseeing. It truly was an awesome experience. On my second visit, I was in town with my family, and I told them we were not leaving L.A. without eating here first. We came on a Saturday, and the restaurant was pretty packed. We waited about 15 minutes for a table, and to my surprise, we scored the fire pit seats I had wanted so badly the first time. Sitting next to the fire, feeling the warmth and watching the flames dance in the evening air, made the experience even more special. The second visit was just as great as the first. Great service, a relaxing atmosphere, and incredible food from start to finish. I truly enjoyed every minute of it. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend Jinya Ramen Bar. Trust me, it is absolutely worth it.

First time trying JINYA! When visiting this location, expect to find street parking. It wasn't that…read morehard to find parking but maybe because it was Super Bowl Sunday? We were lucky to find a metered parking that already had money in it, yay! There are a bunch of eateries on this street as well. It's a small restaurant inside, but more space outside. Not that busy at all, there were only 2 other parties dining at the same time as us during prime dinner time. I saw they were running a Demon Slayer promotion and I wanted the free spoon haha. So I ordered the Tokyo Yatai Ramen and my friend ordered the Birria Ramen. The waiter or owner(?) who talk our order was also very nice! Very quick and efficient with our order. It didn't take too long for our ramen to be prepared. First glance, it doesn't look like your traditional ramen. It actually looks more Chinese style ramen. Especially the noodles? The texture is not quite the same as traditional ramen shops (and I have been to Japan). The ramen bowl itself was pretty simple, strong flavors from the chicken broth, the pork itself was pretty alright. It's honestly pretty standard but does not have a Japanese feel to it. I tried my friend's Birria Ramen and it's literally tastes like a taco in a bowl haha, which is pretty accurate. So even my Chinese friend likes the birria ramen because it reminds of her this Chinese instant noodle she always has lol. So I guess meaning in a good and bad way, but she still enjoyed it. Overall, the whole experience was not bad. I do only see JINYA in the more 'whiter' communities, so I find this to be not very authentic Japanese ramen. Also it's pricy for what it is when I can get an authentic bowl for $16.
