Great hand roll spot on Montana, grab and go sushi. We went with the family on Sunday not knowing what to expect. We found a variety of sushi rolls: tuna, salmon, chicken teriyaki, sweet potato, bali, and spicy tuna hand rolls. We got tuna, salmon, chicken teriyaki, and spicy tuna. Everything was yummy, and you can ask for soy sauce and ginger. Service was great and the staff gave recommendations. Price point was $6.50 a roll, which is reasonably priced for the location and quality. Will definetely come again.

Look under the hood; way too much rice to protein ratio.

Everything about this place screams quality. Fresh look, welcoming spirit, cute takeaway boxes and toss in reasonable pricing. But sadly, when you look under the hood, the rolls are premade, the rice to protein ratio is whacked (way too much rice, and the rice is just "OK") and all of a sudden either the sushi to-go counter at either Whole Foods or Pavillions seems like a better option. If you have time, KazuNori by Sugarfish is much better and believe it or not, a 4-Hand Roll Set is a buck cheaper.

I was in Australia recently and marveled at the on-the-go sushi burritos sold everywhere. I honestly was quite sad that I wouldn't be able to get them back home once we left. Then I saw this place advertised to me on social media. I was excited to try it. So excited that I made the drive from Phoenix just to try it. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The inside of the store was incredibly hot when we walked in, certainly not the temperature you would hope to encounter at a place that serves raw fish being made counter-side. The service was also less than stellar. We got a lackluster hello from the lady behind the counter and no "is this your first time in?" or any sort of pleasantry. I took the lead and explained my aforementioned story of how I was excited for an Australian sushi spot to be open stateside and got a "thanks for giving us a try" accompanied by a smile from Chef Marni. We ordered the box of four rolls for $21 and got two salmon avocado, one tuna avocado, and one spicy tuna. It's nice that they have a veggie option and an option for non-sushi lovers (today, it was a chicken teriyaki roll). While I expected the nori to be tender as that's how it was in Australia, the rice was somehow very mushy and overcooked in some places and very hard and undercooked in others. It was just... weird. It was also super messy to eat. Most of the Australian places I got sushi from individually wrapped them, so the contents wouldn't squeeze out of the bottom when you bit into the roll. That functionally was very helpful and may be a good suggestion to implement here.

Convenient little cute sushi roll shop on the westside. Newly opened by a couple from Australia, Rolld Sushi is able to maintain quality and freshness by keeping their menu simple. The menu rotates daily, consisting of 5 or 6 classic rolls (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and vegetarian options as well). The interior is modern, clean, and there is ample natural lighting - making for a very airy feel. There is no seating inside, although there are cute little seats outside to eat your rolls and people watch. Service is quick - you just point to the rolls you want, and the friendly staff package your selections. The rolls come with cute fish-shaped soy sauce bottles, wasabi, and ginger. There is decent street parking in this area of Santa Monica.

Fast Service. Rolls are pre-made. Rice is on the softer/mushed side. You get lots of rice but I think the fish is the same amount if you had gotten fresh rolls at Kazunori. Fish tastes fresher than supermarket sushi.

Just what Montana Ave needed! there's a couple of other handroll restaurants nearby, but what makes Rolld stand out is the fact that they're grab and go! There's no compromise for quality either with it being grab and go which I love. E.g. I love kazunori's handrolls but you have to commit to waiting in line, and sitting at the bar in order to get handrolls and you can't get theirs to go. Rolld has the same high quality of fish too. Already picturing myself taking Rolld handrolls to the beach, palisades park etc. SO happy to have this business here !!

Great motto

I'd seen this on Instagram and finally got to try it-Hardest part was deciding which roll to try, so we got all of them! Super yummy Chicken Katura (sp), Spicy Tuna and Salmon Avo roll - and the day's special was a Beef Brisket! Yum! Super friendly staff - including the chef who waved at a baby outside. Clean, fresh inviting space.

10/10 new hand roll spot in Brentwood! Everything was great, but the salmon avocado was a stand out for sure!

As someone who doesn't usually go for hand rolls, this place blew me away. Great spot for a quick lunch or dinner.

One of my favorite sushi places!! You don't have to think…read moretoo hard about what you're going to order, just go with the flow. I love getting the "THE NOZAWA TRUST ME" and treat myself when visiting LA ($48 for dinner and fullest of the pre made omakase menus | $40 at lunch). If there is a fish you don't love, you can ask to substitute. But I highly recommend you try them all. The fish is so fresh, I love eating there the most because the fish is super cold, and the rolls are crispy hot on the outside and cold inside. BUT, their to-go and delivered options are just as nice and very well presented (see my pics). It's a must when visiting LA!!

Nozawa's mission for the last 40 years has always been to bring traditional Japanese sushi to America. Sushi nowadays is more common but Sugarfish is still around and has expanded greatly. There is a free parking garage about 2 blocks away and we came on a Tuesday where it was still pretty busy for lunch. The sushi could have been better, while the fish and rice were good the amount of salt and wasabi was wildly different, sometimes having too much or too little. The rice was also inconsistent, some of it falling apart on the plate and not properly pressed together. 2 of our group had the tasting menu and it took a very, very long time for them to get their orders. A la carte was way faster and I was about halfway done with our food before they started getting their food.

So sad that seems like the world knows and it is a madhouse around lunch and dinner time. People regularly park in front of my house a block away to go here. I highly recommend the sashimi counter and they also have great bentos but you have to wait a bit for them to put them together. Also if you're a regular bring your own bag so you don't pay the extra $.10 and save the environment a little. You can also pre-order party platters. Also if you want full sashimi selection don't come toward end of day as they'll run out of things. They refresh their rolls almost hourly so everything pre-made turns over quickly and is super fresh unlike the markets where it's more like 1x/day. Biggest ask is to pace yourself on how often you come so it's not so crazy every time I go.

Nigiri (5/5): we ordered 7 different kinds of nigiri and they were all thick cuts of high quality fish. Overall I highly recommend Mikomi Sushi if you're craving sushi in the Santa Monica area. Decent size dining area, sushi bar and looks ideal for medium to small size parties. Staff was friendly and they also have automated robots to help drop off items at patron tables. I decided to go with the Bento box with an extra side of nigiri. The nigiri was good: good ratio or fish to rice and the sushi itself was tender and tasty. There is an additional charge for the nigiri and salmon; $30 for a bento box is a bit on the high side but a location in downtown Santa Monica implies higher priced items. Would go back and try the sushi rolls with some friends.
