Ichi box - very tasty!
Rachel C.

I stopped into LA Sushi Co to grab lunch to go last week. I got a bento box that was pretty reasonably priced and was very tasty, but the experience and lack of options made me downgrade to 4 stars. I could be imagining this, but upon coming into the restaurant, I felt like three people sort of stared at me like I had three heads. There was nobody else in the store but I still felt quite rushed. I wanted to ask a few questions about the menu but I didn't really get the chance. I got the ichi bento box with salmon sashimi, edamame, tuna nigiri, and yellowtail nigiri. It was a light lunch but had fresh fish and was tasty overall. I would have preferred a box with rolls, but most of the maki rolls on their own cost just as much as the box, and the bento boxes rise in price with different options. The next step up from the ichi box is the ni, but you cannot substitute and I wasn't as interested in the yellowtail maki roll or the cucumber maki roll. Because you are not allowed to sub other items, I decided against that box. Overall, the sushi was great and fresh. The service was quite odd (there are also several self checkout kiosks but the woman at the register clearly wanted me to check out with her instead. It's not a sit down spot, and it has very few areas to sit, but I like having this spot close by and for an easy and quick lunch.

This spot is great! Was so happy I ended up trying it. Everyone was super nice at the counter. The fish quality is great and what you get for the price is super reasonable. I got the Ni box and it was a perfect portion for an early dinner. And bonus points for being super cute in there! Definitely will be back

Cute little place! From a pricing perspective, similar to Sugarfish. The fish was good and I enjoyed. We spent $100 getting the largest and smallest box with a can of beer and a bottle of yuzu. I would come back.

I had a great experience dining in the other afternoon. I was very interested in trying out their menu and seeing the quality. My friend and I ordered the yon and shared the box, we were both really impressed with the quality, felt like the cuts were very big and juicy. We felt like it was a higher quality than basic tuna, and salmon, like the cuts looked different- almost like king salmon or salmon belly. I think the portions are good, they should have more box combo options! I was wondering why the maki cuts were only 4 pcs but 6-8 would be too much, so I get it. I think next time I will try selecting my favorite cuts and see how it goes from there. Thank you Eddy! For being so kind! I will be back!

Stopped in around 4pm on a Thursday for a quick bite and we were the only guests. I was able to order right away with a tablet to pick what I wanted to try. My food was prepped right there as I ordered. The staff was extremely welcoming and willing to answer any questions. I've been so excited to try LA Sushi and have been waiting for it to open. It definitely lived up to my expectations and I will be back. Such a great addition to Brentwood!

I came here to pick up some sushi lunch. Unlike what others have said, I found the service to be great. Despite being a fast casual restaurant, the person at the register greeted me and suggested that I order the "Ni" as a perfect single order. You can see the sushi chefs a bit farther down making everything to order. When my order was ready (which was pretty quick) they all - cashier and sushi chefs - all greeted me as I left. The packaging is amazing - but possibly adds to the price of the fish. It comes in a sturdy bento-style box. The chopsticks provided are hefty, with a smooth finish, not like a break-apart chopsticks that give you splinters. I also really appreciated the little sauce boat provided for the soy sauce. In terms of taste, I do wish that the edamame was a bit more salted, but the fish itself was amazing! I thought all of the fish tasted very fresh! I'm normally not the biggest fan of salmon, but I thought that th salmon sashimi tasted really good - fresh and bright, almost sweet. Tuna nigiri was also great. It was a little annoying that the rice from the nigiri got stuck to the bottom of the box, so I really had to tug at it to pick up the pieces. Perhaps they can change up something about their take-out boxes so it doesn't get stuck. Aside from that, this was a great lunch option when I feel like splurging on some sushi takeout!

My boyfriend & I were walking through Brentwood. We were feeling a bit hungry& saw the place. It really caught my eye due to the aesthetic. As we came in, the employee was so nice! It made us want to be in here and welcomed. When I saw the price for what you got I thought it was pretty reasonable. We got the ICHI. Let me tell you, the fish was SUPER fresh & soft. I am a big fan on fish! The employee was so nice. Then he gave soft serve ice cream. Thank you La sushi co for being so kind

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

When I made reservations on the phone I asked about the latest reservation and confirmed 10 pm - however I asked if I could sit at the bar and they said not at that time since they closed at 11. When we arrived, there was a couple coming in at 10 and sat at bar...maybe just miscommunication but tha could have prevented us from consuming our food quick and skipping on alcohol since the table we got was not the best. Sushi felt very fresh and there's something about the way they make the rolls that feels different about other places (not sure if in a good way) Great staff and sushi chefs- they were super fast moving from one course to the next one.

While the fish quality here is great, you will get more bites that seem a lot more experimental with flavors and garnishes. I didn't like every single bite but I expected that. A lot more focus on creative cocktails and drink pairings instead of just sake or wine. This is a great place to try Japanese whiskey, they even have little lockers where regular patrons can store their expensive bottles they've bought for when they return, and you are welcome to grab an additional drink and chill in the space afterwards if you'd like. The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience. Brought my friend here for her bday and we left full and happy and a little drunk so I'd say it was a successful night!

Great food! Great crew!…read more However, they allowed 2 obnoxious couples to just make it for an uncomfortably loud dinner. Thai is not how an omakase experience should unfold. Such a shame because otherwise it would have been a great experience. But I cannot excuse them for allowing these other guys to just behave so rudely, like Neanderthal, and not say a thing.

It's the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy your meal, and have a good conversation. The food was consistently good. Fresh ingredients, well-balanced flavors, and a few signature rolls that felt thoughtfully done without trying too hard. Service was another highlight--easygoing, attentive in a subtle way, and never intrusive. If I had to point out one thing, it would be that a few dishes didn't quite have that "wow" factor. But sometimes, I appreciate a place that simply gets everything right without overcomplicating it. Definitely somewhere I'd return to--and perhaps bring the right company next time.
