This place seemed to get good ratings so I was excited to try this place. There is an array of food in their selection, ranging from Korean, Japanese and Chinese. But it turned out to be a disappointment. My group tried a few different items ( Note that we did not get any sushi) Jajangmyeun- was under-whelming. The noodles were a little unusual. They were cold and rubbery. We could not mix the noodles with the sauce because they were stuck together. Curry- was decent but pretty much the typical curry with the prepackaged sauce mix so you can't really mess that up. The meat was at least tender. Ramen-was really basic and a big let down. The broth tasted like a soup mix out of the packet, not the delicious slow pork rendered broth that it is supposed to be. The egg was hard boiled, not even soft boiled and not seasoned. Fried Cheesecake- this was a sweet treat. But the topping was basic. We didn't get any sushi rolls which may have been our downfall, but if the other items were not that good, then I'm not inclined to try the other menu items. But like most Asian places, not all dishes are a winner, so you have to find that one or two dishes that are their knock outs. Maybe I had my expectations high, but everything is just average. Not a bad place to stop in for something to fill up. But in my book, Sushi Plus is a sushi minus. A place that has too many varieties of ethnic food should have been the first sign. They are doing too much. The authenticity in the flavors or the cooking is not there. read more

Here we go my last review for 2019!!! Since this was the last place I ate out at today. This is now my 3rd time coming here for lunch with my mom.(she's a regular) Super cool that they have a roll for each state. Might be making a goal to try each one of these rolls in the future. My second time at Sushi Plus. Review based on second visit. My first time here was pretty decent. I was there for dinner with my husband. We had sushi rolls, spicy edamame and shrimp tempura. The service was fast, food was average, and customer service was average. My second time, however, was a disappointment. The sushi rolls didn't feel good. The rice was falling apart, the crab and salmon felt rubbery. Next, the tempura and Gyoza were not tasty. They were rather cold and soggy. After finishing our appetizers and feeling bit disappointed, me and mine husband decided to skip the main course. Pls note that during the second visit, the restaurant was slow. Ordered the spicy ramen, curry ramen, and spicy edamame. I will say the edamame was great. The spicy ramen broth was very flavorful and tasty. My issues were they did not include egg. We ordered egg for an up-charge but it was overly cooked. The ramen also did not come with fish cake. Overall disappointed in the lacking ingredients. As for the service. The waitress was polite and got our order correct. We were the only table the entire time and the servers took a very long time to greet us and made us share one menu. This place is SO GOOD!! I don't like sushi but love veggie sushi. I've always liked Ra's vegetable tempura roll but it's expensive and hasn't been good lately. I got Sushi Plus' aparagus tempura roll and their other vegetable roll with zucchini and carrots. My husband got the Arizona and Texas roll. We also go spring rolls and gyoza to share. We went here on Sunday evening, 6/30/24. This morning, my Visa Debit card was compromised. Somebody working at the restaurant skimmed my card, and now I have withdrawals on my Visa debit from DraftKings Sportsbook. The card has been shut down. I ordered gyoza, shrimp tempura, and a side of white rice for pick up. When I went to pick it up the place smelled awful. The lady on the phone was rude, they always are rude at this place. When I walked in she just told me the price like "$18.75" and didn't even ask my name to verify my order. Just a bad experience even so far and making me feel off at this point. The gyoza and the shrimp tempura were slightly cold. I ate about half of them, not sure if it was just in my head or not.. trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. i turned over a fried shrimp that was completely gooey and uncooked on one side. I called them to ask for a refund and even offered to bring the rest of the food back. The entire time they were trying to make excuses like, "was it just the one shrimp that was undercooked?" Or "was it undercooked just on the outside?" When I brought the food back I was stared down by the older Asian lady. They gave me my refund and then when I said thank you, she told me she could not serve me anymore. Sounds good to me. I have paid $10 for "bluefin tuna" here and it tastes just like standard tuna... Except it was worse, extremely tough and stringy. i don't even think it was bluefin. This is all why I try to stay away from people selling Korean and Japanese food not just Japanese. We went back today and after some thought and a little more investigation I had to drop my rating for the following reasons: - Their entrees are not well balanced. Some of their rice paired entrees come with vegetables, others do not. As the meals are not presented as a la carte it would be nice if the meal had a better balance. - The noodle soups are not made from scratch broth. If I wanted to eat packaged noodles, I cab doctor it up myself at home for a fraction of the cost. In fact, when I cook at home, I try to cook from scratch. So why do I still give it 4 stars? What they do make fresh is decent, and it is obvious they put a lot of thought in their sushi options. I think the restaurant can improve with more attention to the menu, more attention on the dining experience (e.g., more attentive wait staff), and less nickel and diming the food customizations. We will be back to support local business but not frequently. When we are spending $160-$180 for dinner for our family of 5, I expect a little more. read more

SUSHI PLUS IS DEFINITELY A PLUS Trusty yelpers came through with a great recommendation. Started with the Kansas roll and I've never been to Kansas but I want to go now. The roll was really good, fresh and new! We followed up with spicy ramen and a bento box with sesame chicken. I loved the spicy ramen packed full of flavor and it was very hardy. The bento was extremely fresh and delicious. Oh and the service was awesome. Our waitress was very nice and on top of things. I got a curry chicken bowl and spicy tuna roll for $21.16. I was hoping to get a cucumber salad but they said they were all out of seaweed so I couldn't get it. Unfortunately, they don't allow you to wait inside when you order for takeout which I found unusual. They did cook up my order on time. The spicy tuna roll was deliciously spicy. Decided to come meet a friend at Sushi Plus during my lunch break as she wanted sushi. They recently opened up but I wanted to wait a few months after opening before trying this place out because I only have 30 mins for lunch. I was kind of disappointed the precious Chinese place closed down that was at this location because it was literally my go-to lunch spot. As for Sushi Plus my expectations for this place have surpassed me! I'm glad my friend decided to pick this spot for lunch because I was a little hesitant about it but now I think I will come here for lunch more often! We both decided on a ramen bowl each. The one I chose was so full of flavor and everything I could have asked for. I tried my friends miso ramen broth and it was just as good. We also decided on two sushi rolls off of their happy hour menu ( 2 rolls for $9) we picked the spicy California roll and spicy chicken teriyaki roll. Both were fairly decent. I was more for their ramen. However, they have a 50 states roll. A different sushi roll for each state. I guess it would be their 'specialty rolls' I didn't get to try any of those but next time I am curious to see what that's all about! Came for ramen and picked up my order. I admittedly have high standards living next to the #1 Ramen spot in Chicago. The tonkotsu broth lacked flavor, the pork was uninspired, and I don't know why radishes were part of this in the first place. They need to go back to the drawing board on their ramen. The interior of the restaurant somewhat confused me - it seemed like a holdover interior from the building housing an old franchise restaurant. It didn't have the warm woodwork or ambiance one would expect from a Japanese restaurant. I didn't have their sushi and it seems that's the main draw here so I'll decline to rate this at the 1 star that dish deserves because the few patrons whose food I saw did look like they had some good sushi on their hands. So I've just moved to Phoenix and this is my first spot I've checked out since the move. The pictures and reviews on Yelp seemed promising so why not give it a try! Decided to give this place a shot today 2/14/21 All I can say WOW definitely worth the drive. When we first entered the door they have a table set up for take out or phone orders and will NOT let you all the way in unless you are dinning in so they do take covid seriously.
