    a menu for sushi lover

Our airbnb host recommended this place. It was quite packed on a week day night and thought it should be ok. We are very particular about raw sushi and never had ACYE before. We prefer omakase but this isn't available in this part of WI. Upon looking at its menu, it turned out their sushi were made with imitation crab, salmon, tuna, or shrimp as a foundation. Then, they added various sauces, veggies toppings, and called different rolls with catchy names. We ate several rolls and appetizers. Unfortunately, we both had massive diarrhea 20 minutes after eating and went a few more times throughout the night. It was bad, and we had no intention of returning.

Go to place for anything! Date with friends, family, spouse. Love the calm and friendly atmosphere. Food is perfect as always!

Okay no idea how I haven't reviewed this place yet but I love their sushi it makes me so happy!! And the best thing is they're always fast no matter how busy they are (except for one time but I forgive them). ONLY GET LUNCH DEAL it's like $18 vs $29 or something for all you can eat sushi, dinner isn't nearly as worth it atp go to Akame. Everything on sushi lovers menu is so good and easillyyyyy a regular at this place The dining experience is also really good the building is nice and clean and overall super chill place to spend over an hour at. Seats are comfy and everything ofc

Food quality is beyond Green Bay, WI location. Service was decent, waitress was cordial and food came in a timely manner. The layout permits some privacy between tables. Great experience!

Portions are very small but it was cheap prices. The host girl was very rude and took a phone order over the middle of my order, should be first come first served. A nicer server took over and made my experience way better of their service.

I loved this restaurant as much as I loved Appleton, WI. My fiancé and I took the drive from Chicago to explore little towns in Wisconsin and decided to try this place for dinner. The place was beyond packed when we first walked in, but all tables were 6ft (even more) apart and the entire staff were wearing masks and constantly disinfecting tables. It was a long wait unfortunately due to the limited capacity but it was well worth it. You can either ask for a paper menu or if you want to be extra COVID cautious, you have the option to scan the menu barcode and use your phone. The menu is extensive and they have some really good and appetizing rolls, however, the AYCE option would be the best bet for your money. The fiancé and I chose the AYCE option and ended up ordering one of each of their specialty rolls along with a few appetizers. There was a bit of a wait on the food but that's understandable considering it was a Saturday night. Our waitress was delightful and checked up on us every once in a while to make sure we were doing okay. The roll were delicious, fresh with really nothing to complain about. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in the Appleton, WI area. Till next time!

I eat here at least once a month and always have a positive experience. While the furniture isn't the nicest, staff is always friendly and helpful. The quality of the food is great for AYCE and the appetizers are one of my favorite categories to order from.

The sushi was good but also a bit too expensive for the amount we got. Gotta go make a separate dinner to compensate !

He tells me he's not our server. Then he asked me what plates to clear, and I pointed to the big stack in front of me which he begrudgingly took. Then he turned around and kicked the door to get into the kitchen. Horrible attitude and rude. He was a young kid probably 20 at most, so I'm not sure what his role was in the restaurant. The food is also way too salty. I had the fillet and chicken combo and it was almost inedible. I think Sushi is a way to go because that was much better than the hibachi.

Since then we have had the privilege of eating at some amazing places all across the world including many Michelin starred restaurants. When we came back to Appleton, we wanted to try this place again to see if we still thought it was good. It is. It's not the best sushi I've ever had but it is more than passable for a place in Appleton WI. Bit too much rice in the nigiri but fish was generally very good. Uni wasn't as delicious as other places in bigger cities but again, for where it is, it's very good!

We were told this was the best sushi the person who reffered us had ever eaten. Challenge accepeted! We both agreed it was excellent sushi and I have been back every time I have been in Appleton since, except when they were closed due to Covid. This time I was there with a different co worker. We decided to order Tuna Tartare and 3 rolls. We had the popper roll, dragon roll and another that I cannot remember the name of. Each was different but equally good. We also had a salad, your typical japanese salad with ginger dressing. The dressing was better than most. The rolls are huge, I don't know how someone without a big mouth can eat a piece. 3 rolls and the tartare was more than enough for the 2 of us. I have to say that this is in fact the best sushi I have eaten throughout the U.S.

And it was very inconsistent... going from little salmon to almost none existent (see picture). I brought it up to our sever and they said that's normal for them (!!!). That's definitely not worth $11 per roll. After that they avoided our table for the rest of the meal. So if you're looking for sushi, go somewhere else ... maybe akame.
