Can I just say wow! I was not expecting this tonight. My son wanted sushi for his birthday. The place we normally go is closed, so we tried Akame. Don't be turned off by the strip mall...this is really good!! I was first surprised by the casual, yet comfortable decor of the restaurant. There was a wait, but it was worth it. The restaurant is all you can eat for dinner at about $30. You get a tablet at your table and can order as many rolls as you want. We ordered 7 first and then another two. The food was FAST! The sushi was excellent. I must tell you about the sexy jalapeño roll. This was quite a surprise. It was jalapeño, cream cheese, salmon and tempura. Oh My, I did not share. It was mine and I loved it. It was not super spicy and the balance of flavors was delightful. We will most definitely be returning!

We were visiting appleton for a family event and wanted to take advantage of the variety of food they have here. Came across Akame Sushi for all you can eat sushi. It was definitely worth it. For $21.99 each, we were able to pick and choose what we wanted to eat. They give a tablet and your simply just order as you go which is great - that way you're not wasting any food. Service was excellent. We went shortly after opening hours and it did get packed pretty fast. Definitely recommend and will hope to return our next visit.

I happened to be close to this restaurant at lunchtime and despite some reviews, decided to give it a try. I'd say my review is more of a 3.5 star review; however, Yelp hasn't figured out how to allow for more accurate ratings. I'll start by saying the all-you-can-eat price is a little high ($22 for lunch). I don't think I'd come at dinner time to spend the additional money. However, the service was efficient, the ordering system was easy to use and the restaurant was clean. I tried two of the different soups and was disappointed in both. Neither had any flavor. The tempura fried vegetables were okay but needed a better sauce then the one provided. I wasn't impressed with the deep fried scallop (again no flavor) but the shrimp was good. I tried several of the sushi rolls and thought they were flavorful and fresh. Overall, if there weren't similar places in the area, I'd return to this place. That said, there are other options and I'd be inclined to check them out.

I'm only giving 1 star because I have to. I did not eat and the restaurant seemed clean. But the service was HORRIBLE! I went to dine with some of my family. I do not eat seafood but their menu clearly has other options so I was ok with going. I have done this in the past with friends at other places. I advised them I was not doing sushi but ordering off the menu other options. She told me I couldn't that food was to go only. That dine in was sushi only. We asked if I could order to go then sit n eat with my family. Both the waitress and the manager said no that's their rule. Mind you IT IS NOT ON THE WEBSITE or LISTED ANYWHERE because if I knew this before hand I would not have joined my family. Their website has order online options for location and then the menu showing ALL options!!! I was not going to sit there and watch my family eat or make them leave having them load the kids n everyone else up. So I left. I told them it's ok they didn't want my money even though the restaurant was clearly empty.

We love sushi. We are a little biased when it comes to sushi since we lived in California which has some of the best sushi we have ever had. That being said. We do like this place. Service is great. Very friendly staff. Very clean. Prices are good too. Th Nigiri sushi should be cold and there's is slightly above room temp. The wasabi was very wet and had no consistency. We have come here on two other occasions and been happy when we need a sushi fix. lol. I would come back again but some of the sushi lacks flavor but overall a good place to come.

I loved everything and can't wait to go back. Ordering was a breeze, and the food arrived pretty quickly. The server checked in a few times to see if I needed anything. Everything tasted good, but my favorites were the Dynamite Roll & the Sexy Girl Roll.

Great food, fun ambiance and love that you can take care of ordering on your own through the iPad.

I've been eating nigiri sushi since the late 1970s in Northern California where I live, so I'm used to a wide choice of good sushi restaurants available. Consequently, there was about four inches of snow all through the parking lot and outside the main entrance. Not a soul had worked to clear any of the snow. This is flatly unacceptable in Wisconsin. The service at the table was also poor. I understand waitressing can be a difficult job, but our waitress was transparently uninterested in her work, and us as guests, and her demeanor was as fake as her eyelashes. The food was bad. The soup served at the beginning of the meal was terribly salty, ninety-nine percent broth, too hot to enjoy, and simply did not taste like anything but salt. Having never been to a hibachi restaurant before, another member of our party of six ordered for me. I was served fried rice, chicken, shrimp, and beef. The beef was over-cooked, and was not cooked according to instruction. The shrimp and chicken were as bland as you'd imagine poorly-seasoned shrimp and chicken. The rice was not good, nor bad, just boring rice. Overall, it was just too much oil and soy sauce, not enough ginger and other flavors. The chef's performance - which is why I suppose people patronize this style of establishment - was terribly lackluster. He brought out a huge tub of butter, and I expected him to show us a butterfly (i.e., him launching butter onto the cooking surface), but he didn't even use the butter for a single dish, let along for a performance. He - Carlos - was clearly not a native English speaker and thus it was hard to understand him when he did speak (which was seldom). His twirling of, and banging of, utensils wasn't entertaining; the performance was irritating. To top it off, when he was loading cooked meats onto my dining partner's plate, he dropped cooked beef into her lap!!! All he offered was a weak apology, poorly understood. The bill automatically included an eighteen percent for gratuity, because our group included six persons. That is despicable behavior. The hibachi table seats nine persons. Not a single aspect of our group of six made extra demands on the staff, therefore the automatic gratuity is disgusting. I will never return to this place. I do not recommend that anyone patronize this establishment. P.S. If you do dine here, watch your step while you enter the dining room from the lobby. There is a variance in floor height between rooms, and this tripping hazard is not adequately marked.

We were told this was the best sushi the person who reffered us had ever eaten. Challenge accepeted! We both agreed it was excellent sushi and I have been back every time I have been in Appleton since, except when they were closed due to Covid. This time I was there with a different co worker. We decided to order Tuna Tartare and 3 rolls. We had the popper roll, dragon roll and another that I cannot remember the name of. Each was different but equally good. We also had a salad, your typical japanese salad with ginger dressing. The dressing was better than most. The rolls are huge, I don't know how someone without a big mouth can eat a piece. 3 rolls and the tartare was more than enough for the 2 of us. I have to say that this is in fact the best sushi I have eaten throughout the U.S.

We went to one of their limited dinner services. I had called the day before and reserved a table. When we were quickly seated at a table by the entrance, I admit being suspect of how our visit would go. The hostess asked if the table was alright and pointed out a heater by the table. Not only did it keep us warm, it made our table feel cozy. Despite it being very busy, I'd describe the restaurant as being a great place for a special date. Our waiter for the evening brought great energy. His timing was great and his knowledge of the food served was helpful. Without hesitation he suggested the Napolitana (which was phenomenal). He also made the restaurant less pretentious than I had assumed it would be and it definitely wasn't pretentious). We ordered the empanadas and beet salad as appetizers. Great picks and I'd return just to get the empanadas! As previously stated, I had the Napolitana. My dining partner has the quinoa bowl but added chicken to it. No complaints for either. We finished with two desserts suggested by our waiter. Although truly full from our meal, we polished off the tasty treats. I'm going back, just disappointed I've haven't visited it before now.
