Finally came to Ototo. Wife & I for lunch on a Tuesday at noon. The service was excellent, server/cook sat us immediately & there was only 2 other people in the restaurant. Ambiance is super chill. Open kitchen, music was the right volume. Started with the Pork Buns. Fantastic!! Wife loved her Thai Tea & Spicy Miso. I was a bit underwhelmed with the Classic Tonkatsu. The egg was incredible, but overall the ramen was just pretty good. Coming from Southern California my expectations are too high. So for Wisconsin this ramen is definitely good, as good as Bowl 91. Overall 9/10

We wanted a light dinner. Ototo filled the bill. I ordered the Tokyo. My husband ordered the Tantanamen. Perfect temperature with a delicious broth, The Tantansmen had the right amount of spice, Nice clean decor and quiet. Definitely will stop in when we return to the area.

I can appreciate the authentic feel of this restaurant. Appleton definitely needs to expand on their ramen game and I'm glad it's here! Small little shop, you can taste the quality of the food, broth, and meat but it didn't hit the spot. I would love to go again and try other things, especially the appetizers. Good vibes, would try again! :)

Incredible ramen and atmosphere, we absolutely thrilled to have a new age restaurant like this in Appleton! We ordered the Spicy Miso and Khao Soi, as well as the edamame and pork buns for appetizers. Everything was stellar and we were well attended to; good service. Excited to go back and try more!

Super rude customer service. There is minimal staff walking around clearing plates as you finish…read moresoup salad, etc.. we had about 10 plates stacked up and a young kid walked out of the kitchen, which was right by our table and I asked if he would mind clearing some of these plates so we could make room. He tells me he's not our server. Then he asked me what plates to clear, and I pointed to the big stack in front of me which he begrudgingly took. Then he turned around and kicked the door to get into the kitchen. Horrible attitude and rude. He was a young kid probably 20 at most, so I'm not sure what his role was in the restaurant. The food is also way too salty. I had the fillet and chicken combo and it was almost inedible. I think Sushi is a way to go because that was much better than the hibachi.

This used to be our go to sushi place when my husband and I lived in Appleton area over 16 years…read moreago. Since then we have had the privilege of eating at some amazing places all across the world including many Michelin starred restaurants. When we came back to Appleton, we wanted to try this place again to see if we still thought it was good. It is. It's not the best sushi I've ever had but it is more than passable for a place in Appleton WI. Bit too much rice in the nigiri but fish was generally very good. Uni wasn't as delicious as other places in bigger cities but again, for where it is, it's very good!
