Amazing food, great portions, and can't wait to get back. We got the egg rolls and rangoons, both were super flavorful and crispy. I appreciated the rangoons having a good amount of filling, too. Then got the thong kotsu and the shio ramen. These dishes warmed my SOUL. Great flavors, textures, perfect salinity, and heaping portions. Service was perfectly paced and attentive. Ambiance, though, was lacking. Feels a little cold and unfinished, but easy to forgive with the delicious food. read more

Really enjoyed this place. Looks like it used to be a fire station which was cool. Relaxed vibe which I liked since we had been going around at the music festival. We had egg rolls and ramen- all good. Our service was fast. read more

I crave bowl ninety-one every time I am in Appleton, and it never disappoints! Everything I've had so far is delicious. The most recent time I visited, I got a bunch of appetizers + street popcorn chicken (korean style w/ rice), and it was the perfect amount of food for 2 people. LOVE the bulgogi kimchi fries and loaded chashu fries, but everything is always delicious The ramen is very good, but honestly I think the appetizers are the best thing on the menu read more

Came here for a late lunch on the weekend. Quick seating, good service. Would pass on the food. Ordered the tonkatsu ramen. Lacking flavor/depth. Added chili oil for an additional cost which only added a bit of a heat. Pork was meh, again, no flavor, not melt in your mouth. Would pass up on this place. Could make an instant pack at home a lot better. read more

I lived in Florida for 20 years and had very good pad Thai at many restaurants. Came to Appleton and have been searching for a good pad Thai and have not found one until I had it at bowl 91. The pad Thai is excellent. It has the bean sprouts, crushed peanuts, cilantro and a delicious sauce. My friend had the chicken pineapple stirfry and that was also delicious. Our server was excellent definitely will be back. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise The ramen was really flavorful, with a rich broth and perfectly cooked noodles that made the wait worth it. Everything tasted fresh and well-balanced, and you can tell care goes into each bowl. The wait was a bit longer than expected, but once the food arrived, it was easy to forget about it. Definitely worth trying if you're craving tasty, satisfying ramen and don't mind a little patience. There is metered parking outdoors that takes quarters and also has an app. read more

While visiting Appleton my son asked to get PHO. We happened upon bowl 91 and we got Ramen (which I just told him was pho, he is 6) and a few other dishes and I only wish I had been more hungry. Everything was so tasty. We went at lunch time. The staff was so friendly and helpful. read more

Bowl 91 is a charming, casual ramen place located in the heart of downtown Appleton. We went on a Thursday evening and had a 20 minute wait due to staffing shortages. We didn't mind the wait, but it would be nice if they added some seating for disabled and elderly guests to rest while they wait. Our waiter, Lucas, was super enthusiastic! In fact, all of the staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We ordered the Happy Belly Pork Buns for our appetizer, and that was the perfect choice! The buns were pretty small, so they didn't ruin our dinner, but the combination of tangy, savory, and sweet flavors was sublime! The ramen was excellent. I had the Black Tonkatsu Ramen and enjoyed the mixture of flavors and textures. The pork melted in my mouth :) Bowl 91 is a great place to go for delicious, reasonably-priced ramen and friendly service. read more

Stopped at this cozy restaurant for some ramen after shopping at Fox River Mall, which is less than 10 minutes away. Loved the variety on the menu including Thai and other Asian food. Ambiance- modern and simple, not much character to it. The tables are also a bit too close, reminiscent of crowded restaurants in Asia. Also the AC was not on (in a bid to save money?) so it was a bit humid when you enter. Food- I ordered the Sho Yee (chicken ramen). The broth was heavily seasoned but still tasted good. The noodles were cooked to perfection so was the egg. Wish there was more greens in the dish but everything was very delicious. Probably not the most authentic version of ramen after having it in California and Colorado. Overall, I enjoyed the ramen here and other guests' dishes looked and smelled so good as well. Definitely worth a second visit if not more! Service - my server was very sweet and attentive during my dining experience. Definitely A+ service! read more

Food: 5/5 We ordered the Thong Katsu Ramen and Spicy Miso Ramen. Both were delicious! The chashu was so tender. I definately recommend Thong Katsu if youre not sure what to try. But if you like spice, u have to try the spicy miso ramen! Service: 5/5 Great service. Didnt have any problems. Overall experience was great. I would come back. read more

Absolutely DELICIOUS! I love trying new ramen spots when I'm traveling and I'm so glad the front desk guy at the Madison rental car company told me to go here when I'm in town. I sat at the bar since I was by myself. They have plenty of seating and the service was very friendly and fast. I got the spicy miso ramen and I loved it! Super flavorful broth (and not too spicy), plenty of char siu, a warm soft boiled egg, and the perfect chewy noodle. Loved the mushrooms as well. I ate the whole thing! I'm so impressed that there is a ramen place like this in Appleton. I will be back! read more

My sister and I drove up to Appleton to do some thrifting. After our first stop, we were ready for lunch, and we were near the downtown area. A quick Google search led us to Bowl Ninety-one. It was really busy, but still had tables open. We were encouraged by how many people were eating there. Our waitresses (one was training) were both really nice and quick to care for our table. My sister ordered the veggie spring rolls for us to try. They were delicious. The sauce was a little thin and clear, but had a great flavor. I ordered the curry lover Ramen. It's definitely in my top 3 Ramen I've ever had. The broth was rich and none of the flavors were fighting each other. The meat was tender, and it had just enough heat. It was a huge serving, so I'm looking forward to having round 2 for lunch. read more

I wish I had taken the beautiful bowl of Thai inspired ramen (the "curry lover") - but as you can see it was way too good to even pause for a moment to remember to take the picture. So behold, a picture of what remained after I got my hands on this amazing ramen. I can't stress enough how good it was! We're not from the area but I will absolutely be making the drive just to eat here again. Fantastic food, fantastic service, cozy modern vibe - can't wait to come back!! read more

Food, service and ambiance were AMAZING - 5 stars! However, there was quite a wait for our food.

Wow...what a great little restaurant located on College Ave in Appleton WI. I was there on a work trip and happened to stumble on this restaurant while exploring the downtown area. I decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. I sat at the bar where the server quickly and kindly greeted me. I started off with a local beer and went on to have the spicy Bangkok noodles with crispy pork belly. Both the beer and the noodles were delicious. Unique spot in downtown Appleton. Service was great and our waitress was really helpful to make recommendations as this was our first time. We had the Belly buns and crab Rangoons to start. The crab Rangoons were amazing! Very large and perfectly fried with a tasty interior. We both ordered the Drunken Udon stir fry. I got mine without the chili oil so there was no spice. I felt the noodles were a little too oily for my preference but my husband loved his with the spicy chili oil. Looking forward to coming back for a hot bowl of ramen in the winter! read more

Based on another review, we had the steamed buns appetizer. Excellent! My friend ordered the fried rice with several meats and said it had great flavor, but it was too much of the same flavor over and over. I ordered a chicken vegetable dish but I don't remember the name. Flavors were good and portions were huge. Great service and nice ambiance. Positive experience overall. I'll be back! read more

Came during covid, so things were a bit different then their usual business. We came midday on a weekday. Service was great, we were the only ones dining in at that time, a couple of take away orders and then it picked up when we left. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, she was also training and did everything seamlessly. Pricing was a bit spendy, not sure if that's normal for the area, we are new! But the size of the meal for the price was a bit pricey. We come from big cities so to see this in such a small area was shocking. The ramen was in quite a small bowl, but a cute bowl at least! Food, we got the happy belly buns which is basically just pork buns elsewhere. Simple, had good flavor and a good chunk of pork belly. I got the spicy miso ramen, nothing too special about it, but it was good and mildly spicy for my taste, could've been more. The ingredients were kind of minimal in my opinion, only one pork belly. Could've done with just more of everything. Flavors were good though. Would definitely come back to try their other ramens. Of note, they did have hand sanitizers around the restaurant and tables were distanced appropriately. Felt safe, clean here. Would recommend ppl to try especially since asian cuisine is far and few in between in the area. Happy eating! read more

A fairly small little spot just off the street in Downtown Appleton with a wide ranging menu from fried rice to pad thai to pho and ramen. My first order were the happy belly buns (as anyone who has read my reviews knows I cannot pass these up). They were cooked to perfection but not as flavorful as the best ones I've had the pleasure of tasting. Overall, they were still solid though. For entree, I went with their famous Tom Yum Yummy Ramen. The broth was great, with a bit of heat but not too much. The meats were kind of hit or miss with BBQ pork, meatballs, and shrimp. The marinated egg was delicious. It needed a bit more vegetables, as there seemed to be almost none (and I'm not even a big veggie person). This was a pretty good spot for Appleton, but I'd say it's more of a 3.5/5 than a true 4 rating. read more

Updating my review since I've been here numerous times. Every time we have had flawless service, flawless food and a fantastic dining experience. The only complaint I honestly have about the place is trying to eat ramen at a high top table is not my favorite thing to do. I wish they would just have regular height tables only. I'm so grateful to have such a fantastic, eclectic restaurant so close to home. The favorite go to menu items are as follows: happy belly buns, shoo yee, and the garden ramen. read more
