Although this place is kind of out of the way to get to, i felt the food was good enough to go back for. Waiter did not greet us so i greeted the waiter instead. He also took away the salad we were going to pack but that is ok. Food tasted good and all was cooked appropriately. We were their first customers so all our food came out fast. The dishes i would not order again: Udon: pretty much flavorless Pork phad ba mee: the flavor wasnt to my liking and i felt they may have used spaghetti noodles in this dish which really threw it off for me.

The "tuna" -- some sort of scrap, not resembling fish

I would not recommend the sushi. Every roll has indistinguishable paste/scrapings, not actual pieces of fish.

Had a great meal at TJ with family. Had a few appetizers, drunken noodles with chicken, and an assortment of sushi rolls (black dragon, amazing, Wisconsin were the best).

I've been here 3 times, I'm basing most of this review on my last visit. Service: We were greeted right away at the door and seated immediately (this usually happens). Our table was a bit sticky and the waitress was happy to wipe down our table for us. The menus were sticky too...bit off putting, cleanliness always is a bit of an issue here (water spilled on the floor, or tables sitting empty with the past customers dishes still on them,etc.). Atmosphere: It is kind of dark in here, bring your reading glasses, the menu print is small. Nice layout though, sectioned off into hibachi and standard sushi/hibachi entree dining. Huge parking lot, it would probably be impossible to not get a parking space, this place is very easy to find. I've never used the bathroom here, so I'm not sure what that is like. Food: The food was alright, I have always ordered the sushi (hibachi is just a glorified stir fry in my opinion with exorbitant amounts of food) and the rice has a bit of an odd texture, a bit dried out, and doesnt hold the rolls together very well, or act as a good base for the nigiri. The other ingredients are alright, not too sure that I would come back again though, their prices are a bit high on some of the items and there are other sushi places with fantastic food at a decent price. My experiences here haven't been bad, but they aren't really something to remember and get excited about.

TJ Thai is one of my favorite restaurants in the Fox Valley. I've been coming here for a long time, and I've never been disappointed. It's quite a place, great atmosphere and separate areas for hibachi, sushi and "main" dining. On my most recent trip, I ordered vegetable sushi as an appetizer. Real good. It comes with a dab of wasabi and a little rest ginger. Tasty! For dinner, I ordered the Amazing Curry with tofu. The Amazing Curry is, well, amazing. It's a peanut sauce served atop a bed of spinach, with broccoli florets encircling the plate. This is so good! The wait staff has always been attentive and prompt. On weekends they can get pretty busy, but they work hard to make everyone happy. Terrific place!

Great hibachi show, amazing food! I thought the show was way better than Katsu-Ya, and the food was equally good. Will be back!

He tells me he's not our server. Then he asked me what plates to clear, and I pointed to the big stack in front of me which he begrudgingly took. Then he turned around and kicked the door to get into the kitchen. Horrible attitude and rude. He was a young kid probably 20 at most, so I'm not sure what his role was in the restaurant. The food is also way too salty. I had the fillet and chicken combo and it was almost inedible. I think Sushi is a way to go because that was much better than the hibachi.

Since then we have had the privilege of eating at some amazing places all across the world including many Michelin starred restaurants. When we came back to Appleton, we wanted to try this place again to see if we still thought it was good. It is. It's not the best sushi I've ever had but it is more than passable for a place in Appleton WI. Bit too much rice in the nigiri but fish was generally very good. Uni wasn't as delicious as other places in bigger cities but again, for where it is, it's very good!

We were told this was the best sushi the person who reffered us had ever eaten. Challenge accepeted! We both agreed it was excellent sushi and I have been back every time I have been in Appleton since, except when they were closed due to Covid. This time I was there with a different co worker. We decided to order Tuna Tartare and 3 rolls. We had the popper roll, dragon roll and another that I cannot remember the name of. Each was different but equally good. We also had a salad, your typical japanese salad with ginger dressing. The dressing was better than most. The rolls are huge, I don't know how someone without a big mouth can eat a piece. 3 rolls and the tartare was more than enough for the 2 of us. I have to say that this is in fact the best sushi I have eaten throughout the U.S.

And it was very inconsistent... going from little salmon to almost none existent (see picture). I brought it up to our sever and they said that's normal for them (!!!). That's definitely not worth $11 per roll. After that they avoided our table for the rest of the meal. So if you're looking for sushi, go somewhere else ... maybe akame.
