We forgot to snap photos before we ate. Overall, okay meal. Quite pricey for smaller portions compared to a hole in the wall place elsewhere. Flavors were okay but very muted across the board. Not quite spicy and scale is very mild. Seasoning also mild and the actual Thai flavors are muddled across the board. We got several dishes including curry, fried rice, the lime pork appetizer, chicken satay, etc to try a bit of everything. Slightly disappointed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere was cute. Short tables and tall tables. Could accommodate larger groups of tables pushed together. There is a bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our service was subpar. Seemed like he hated his job or maybe just monotone. We had been out of the country since the owners sold the Taste of Thai, moved and changed their name to The Mad Elephant. It was Mother's Day and the kids decided to take us there. We had been to the new facility plenty of times in the past (the old Houdini Gastro Pub). They are currently only using the front of the restaurant and was set up well.. The staff and service were great! They were very friendly and willing to explain anything we had questions regarding the menu and the food. The food was excellent and very nicely plated. The taste was great and I considered their spice levels to be accurate. It was a Mother's Day well spent and is a definite consideration for a return visit and further exploration of the menu. read more

It seems that Taste of Thai in downtown College Avenue moved to the previous Houdini's gastropub location. One may expect a full Asian menu, however, it is a fusion of Thai and American dishes (from Houdini's). The ambiance was casual with a bar spread out in the restaurant. They have a fire pit in the patio, perfect for summer days. Service was attentive despite the busy hour. I had the chicken and shrimp volcano which was very good. My wife had the zucchini Pad Thai which was hearty. Certainly a place to have future dinners. read more

My husband and I have been here a couple times. The waiter we've had has always been extremely friendly and helpful. The food has always been good with a good portion size. The chicken curry puffs were excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is cozy and similar to when it was Houdini's, but much smaller[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The cocktails are delicious and good wine and beer selection. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We've always gone on Saturday night and it's extremely slow as far as customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When it was Houdini's it was a long wait to get a table. I worry that they will not stay in business unless they get more customers. read more

Husband and I went a couple of months ago. Food was OK. Brussels sprouts were good but way too much sauce. The service was absolutely terrible! We sat at the bar and waited at least 5 minutes for a drink order and then the service was slow overall. Tried it again last night; met up with another couple. They had water when we sat down at the table. Someone brought us water and just walked away. We sat and sat and sat again. The (same) bartender watched me looking around after sitting for a while and he said/did nothing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't at all busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We left. So, they lost a party of four; we'll never go back. We dine out a lot, we spend a lot of money and we're awesome tippers; 3 of us have made a living serving in restaurants at some point in our lives. Ordered takeout after getting home late from a trip. We picked it up about 30 minutes before closing, food was ready promptly and was warm enough, totalling just over $40 for one entree, one cup of soup and one appetizer. In a word, food quality was...meh. Pad Thai was just noodles, pad thai sauce, sliced chicken breast, and crushed peanuts. No bean sprouts, no green onions, little or no garlic, little other flavor. Tom Kha Gai soup was just OK...also a bit lacking in flavor, but had all the essential ingredients. Nam Sod was also just OK, a bit dry. The 1/4 head of lettuce we got to wrap the pork was mostly brown and not edible. A disappointment. Maybe other dishes are better and we just made bad choices, but how can you mess up Pad Thai?!?!? This place is nowhere near as good as the old Taste of Thai when it was on College Avenue. Won't be back. I can cook much better Thai food myself at home for a lot less money. read more

Leaving one star because our waiter was super friendly. Food was terrible. Everything was soaked in water. Edges of our plates held water and the spices that were supposed to be on our food. I got the chicken pad Thai- noodles texture was good, flavor was bad. My husband got the Thai Chicken, his broccoli was floating in the water on his plate. Should've taken pictures but left our phones in the car. Bring cash! Their Internet went out and a lot of people struggled with the fact they had to go to the ATM to pay for their food. The "Tiger Crying" chefs special was very tasty! The meal came with sticky noodles and just the right amount of heat with the two sauces provided on the side. Service during lunchtime was great. My only suggestion would be to add some vegetables to this offering. read more

The servers were super nice and Mason helped guide us through all the items on the menu and recommendations and he did not disappoint. The appetizers, noodle dish and pasta dish were all Melt in your mouth with great flavor. The bartender made killer cocktails. I didn't know they just opened. Last night was going to be our first time here and my husband and I were so excited to try it out. The food smelled absolutely amazing. The ambiance was a bit claustrophobic, given we've been there when it was Houdini's and the tables were very close together. The reason why this review was a one star is because the service was absolutely awful. I understand it was busy being it was a Saturday night but we only saw 2 waitresses and it was evident one was avoiding serving us after waiting 20+ mins without water and drink service AND the avoidant waitress helping other tables that came in AFTER us. Once we saw that we got up and left. It's really unfortunate because we really wanted to try the food BUT I will be telling everyone I know about the awful experience and will NOT be back!! read more

I am going with a generous 3. The space is nice, but the building is confusing. I am sure that the patio, When the weather is good is fantastic. Food. Hmm. To be fair, the Tomkha soup was nice although a little bland (btw, just making it spicier does not add 'flavor', it adds 'hot'). My critique is the chicken satay. Now, I have not been to Thailand, so I dont know what they do there. But I have been to Thai restaurants owned by Thai people across America and have consumed more than my share of these. Marinated chicken breast grilled on a skewer and served with peanut sauce. A fave of mine. So this was not that. There was some hint of marinade, but it really offered little flavor. Ok. Peanut sauce fixes that. What it DOES NOT fix is the skewers of greasy, gristly, fatty dark meat that I got. And I have to say, my wife who likes wings and dark meat also found them way too fatty to eat. So, would I go back. Probably not. I want to like it. But I can't. But hey, you might feel different and have a different experience. Give them a try. They were nice and the space is promising. And other food we had was good. Not great for us. But good. read more
