Me and sister was walking around town as it was a beautiful day. We both love sushi and decided to grab a light here with some drinks. We walked in and was seated nicely outside. The lace wasn't too busy busy and attended to right away. Their happy hour items are definitely good pricing for the area . I got glass for of Cabernet for $5 and my sister the Saparo for $5. My favorite was the eel avocado roll. I'm not the biggest fan of cream cheese in my roll so my least favorite was the Philadelphia roll. I ordered a peach iced tea. The service was great and attentive. When we walked in without a reservation we were able to be seated right away as it wasn't busy. We were visiting Hoboken for the first time yesterday and went to the Sushi Lounge for dinner. We did make a reservation in advance, which was good since the restaurant was packed! They had a dj playing music upstairs and since there were lots of people it was very loud and hard to hear each other. We started with the pork dumplings for an appetizer and they were very tasty! I personally ordered 3 sushi rolls; avocado roll, Philadelphia roll, and the spicy shrimp roll. All of the rolls were extremely flavorful and had fresh ingredients. I read a lot of reviews about food not being good, but i enjoyed everything i ordered. Maybe i ordered the right things. 1. Yuzo loco - YUM! Def recommend. No rice. Nice and healthy. 2. Grilled scallops - YUM! but keep in mind, only 2 scallops. 3. Kani salad - YUM! And i am picky with kani salad. 4. Autumn roll - tasty, but because of the rice, i found it too filling. Still, very clean tasting. Might not get again. 5. Miso soup - YUM! I am also picky with miso soup. 6. HOT SAKE ... can't go wrong there. Went for a special occasion and honestly, was kind of disappointed. Appetizers: the Asian guacamole was good, fresh & tasty. I had the Japanese risotto & it didn't knock my socks off; could have used some flavoring. The tuna tartare tasted off; I thought maybe it was the micro greens weren't fresh, bc it tasted like dirt. My sushi order can be so terribly boring but I love it so much and refuse to mix it up unless I am with another person and we are going all out. If it is just me: Eel avocado + salmon or tuna roll + seaweed salad. Perfect amount to fill me up and take care of my sushi craving. I'm sure I've been to sushi lounge before but not recently, so happy I finally went back!! Both rolls were very generous with actual meat/avocado and not just surrounded by too much rice. The eel was really delicious and the salmon tasted very fresh. The seaweed salad was also just so tasty and my favorite side. I ordered through Yelp and stopped in before the estimated pick up time and it was there waiting for me. They had plenty of outdoor seating and all employees were wearing face masks. Awesome lunch special. 3 rolls for 17ish with a soup or salad hits the heart well. High quality rolls, very fresh and the staff was extremely friendly. They also got us in and out because I was there doing my lunch break. What i cannot wrap my head around is the "bento box." We were all moved by the note included from the staff at Sushi Lounge that thanked those in Hoboken for supporting them during the past few years of the pandemic and gratitude for being able to continue to serve their community. Loved my Philadelphia roll and my On the Waterfront roll-the salmon was perfectly fresh and I loved the spicy mayo. I especially liked that the roll wasn't overly doused in the mayo so I could still taste the fish with a bit of heat. Solid spot- I've been a few times since I live in town but have only eaten in- never take out or delivery. It has a date'y vibe, and the location in Morristown is the original I think (and better in my opinion) anyways went here with friends last week. It was good we ordered a few apps and each got our own rolls- quality was good and service was very nice and accommodating! I really liked rock n roll- that was delish and kani salad is good too! I also ordered salmon cucumber and Atlanta (tuna/avocado) roll. Friends ordered a few other rolls and enjoyed! We also tried a few cocktails- pretty good! I ordered take out from the Sushi Lounge (off of Doordash) for lunch and enjoyed it! First off, it actually takes a full hour to show up at your doorstep, so I would order in advance. Here's what I got: - Cucumber Avocado Roll: I added mango & spicy mayo on top and it was AMAZINGGGGG! This was definitely my favorite part of the order. They sent out little foil trays to pour your soy sauce in which was nice. The spicy mayo added a great kick to the roll which was offset by the sweetness of the mango. I would definitely order this again, 10/10! The price was $6 (after the two additions I made at 50 cents each) which wasn't bad, totally worth it. - Vegetable Fried Rice: Totally NOT worth the $9. It wasn't bad, just super bland and there were like 10 very small pieces of random vegetables in there-- pathetic excuse for "vegetable" fried rice. I added some soy sauce and hot sauce from home, which made it so much better. They also did not provide any type of hot sauce or chili sauce (even though I asked for it), which was disappointing. Overall, get something else and skip this (2/10). - Vegetable Gyoza (Pan Fried): I would give this dish an 8/10! It was warm and flavorful with a cabbage/edamame/vegetable mix filling, I believe. They were definitely really crispy on the bottom, which I loved. Overall, they were a little too oily which is why I'd give it an 8. I would probably get these again, they give you 6 pieces for $8, which I think is a pretty standard price. It's nice that the rolls are customizable, you can add a bunch of toppings in or take things out (even on Doordash). Next time, I would stick to the sushi rolls alone, they are definitely their strong suit! read more

I feel a bit torn about my opinion and rating of Sushi Lounge--my first time dining here. Pretty good overall, but not outstanding. My friend and I craved sushi while in Hoboken and not being familiar with a go to spot, Sushi Lounge was one of the choices that came up in a search. I felt slightly ambivalent when I saw the overall Yelp rating. Still, once we arrived, we were drawn by eating outdoors and looked forward to a having a good meal. At first glance, the menu was lengthy and diverse. Cocktail and menu prices comparable to Manhattan. Average cocktail was $15. And the average special roll was also $15. The last page of the menu contained select Thai, Teriyaki and Tempura dishes. The rest of the menu was all about hot & cold appetizers and sushi/roll selections. There was even a combo category, some as much as $40 per person for 3 rolls. As far as drinks, my friend and I ordered the house Pinot Grigio ($9) which was pretty good. We shared an order of the crabmeat shu mai ($7) which was ordinary/standard, almost like the frozen variety. My friend ordered a regular roll, the spicy tuna ($8) and the chicken tempura roll ($15) from the special roll category. For my selections, I ordered the shrimp tempura roll ($8) and the Atomic roll from the special category at $15. Since one roll was fried, I wanted my 2nd roll to be spicy. The waitress recommended the Atomic. When our rolls arrived, it appeared mine were more on the puny side. My friend's rolls were more substantial. She liked her rolls and I also liked mine, for the most part, but felt underwhelmed. For one thing, the shrimp tempura roll was cut into very skinny pieces. As far as the Atomic roll, it was flavorless and a let down especially at that price point. It was supposed to be spicy, but I hardly detected any spice factor. Maybe I chose the wrong rolls. My friend and I swapped a piece which enabled me to try the chicken tempura roll and it was pretty good. A Yelp check in offered a complimentary dessert, choice of any from the menu. We decided on the two flavor tempura ice cream, green tea and vanilla, coated in a tempura batter and fried. To be honest, the dessert was my favorite part of the entire meal. It was $10 on the menu. I don't know. I'm on the fence about Sushi Local. You can definitely run up a tab here and although service and atmosphere was on point, I'm worried about taking another chance and feeling let down. A1 sushi by my standards at Sushi Lounge. The Coconut Shrimp Roll had a killer flavor profile -- good combination of savory and sweet -- and the Alaskan Roll had hella fresh salmon. I also dug the Kani Salad, though I was bummed that the second time I ordered it that it didn't have any tempura flakes on top like the first time I ordered it. Bit of a consistency issue there. We also got the Lounge Lava Cake to split between me and my two girlfriends, which was absolutely freaking decadent. Bummer though because they didn't include the vanilla ice cream like it was written on the desserts menu, and that really would've taken it to the next level. Service was a bit lackluster. A little slow and our waitress wasn't personable. Additionally the interior is pretty much decorated like a 50 shades dungeon if you know what I mean, so sort of weird vibes in that regard. For the rolls: I ordered the autumn roll and Hoboken roll. The Hoboken roll was the biggest disappointment. It's just a bunch of cooked fish wrapped in seaweed. It was just so incredibly bland. All the fish was a grayish color when cooked and you couldn't distinguish the salmon from the tuna from the yellowtail by sight or by taste. This isn't really the restaurant's fault... but just a really poor option for a roll. Needed avocado or a better sauce to really bring the much needed flavor. Neither me or my boyfriend wanted to eat the last half of the roll. The autumn roll was a little better... but again, lacking any flavor at all. The spicy tuna on top was minced to a fine paste and was not spicy at all. It is beyond me why there was no sauce at all on this roll just throw some eel sauce on this... or something!! Another bland roll Lastly, the kaiso salad. Which had an elegant description of an assortment of green seaweed but is really just ur typical seaweed salad that u can buy in bulk at most groceries for like $2. It tasted fine. I know 2 stars is pretty harsh... but let me just say this.... I have probably eaten at over 100 different sushi establishments in my lifetime and not once have I ever not finished a roll due to it being so incredibly unenjoyable to eat.
