The fish was fresh and the portion was great, the rice layer wasn't thick at all which is a big factor for me, and to my surprise, it came with both a miso soup & salad. The miso soup was pretty flavorful compared to others I've had and the salad came with a sesame dressing that was so refreshing with the crisp salad. I should've kept my order at that as the Crispy Spicy Salmon wasn't worth it. The crispy rice was slightly too hard/over-fried and the portion of spicy salmon was so tiny. The rice layer should be fully topped with salmon, unlike what they gave. It didn't taste half bad but I'd probably skip it next time. Very cute place on the main strip in Hoboken. Staff werent super friendly but they were attentive and service was quick. We got the choose your own maki combo. We chose the salmon avocado, spicy tuna, and Philadelphia rolls. And we got it with the salad. The salad dressing was amazing, definitely up there with the best of the Japanese salad dressings. The rolls were great as well. Very stuffed with not too much rice and tasted very fresh. The spicy tuna maki was a little spicy for me but not anything crazy. We also got crab rangoons and those were also fantastic. Also very stuffed and sweet. And the sauce they came with was a little spicy, very good too. I came here for lunch with a friend and the specials were so good! We decided to share 3 sushi rolls: spicy crab, shrimp tempura and sweet potato. We also had the hibachi lunch with steak and noodles. Both orders came with miso soup and salad. Everything was so good, and the price for lunch was amazing. Just look at how they plated our sushi. Not only was the presentation A1, it tastes better than it looked. The food didn't stand a chance. I'll definitely be back and will be telling everyone to check this place out. Have dined in person two more times and got takeout and still very much a fan! The service is always very friendly and attentive. Their special rolls are delicious. The presentation is always nice. Just returned to Denmark from a nice Eastern holiday in Hoboken NJ. We found Saka by coincidence. Ordered Red Dragon and Saka rolls, salmon nigri and Edamame with seasalt, and we did that again 2 times more during our holiday. The Red Dragon rolls tasted good and crispy, the Saka rolls with Mango was sweet and exiting, we had'nt tasted that kind of roll before. Really good sushi! We didn't try the hibachi but there are more sushi options anyway. The sushi tasted fresh and came out pretty quickly. We ordered some sort of tempura roll with mango on it and an eel and tempura shrimp roll. Both were warm which was so enjoyable. We also got a melon soda and a Thai iced tea which were great. Sushi was reasonably priced but some other items on the menu looked a little more expensive. The dessert menu was also pretty expansive although we didn't get to try it since we were full. I'm taking one star away because our server had her fingers in the little soy sauce bowls when she placed them on the table. The bowls were empty but it made me not want to use them. read more

The staff her is very friendly and attentive. I thought the quality of the sushi was very low compared to pretty much any other sushi place in hoboken. The sushi has a stringy, chewy texture. It was either poorly cut, not super fresh, both? The most unfortunate part of the meal was the employee who took his smoke break next to the outdoor dining area and then dropped his cigarette in a bottle they keep directly next to the dining tables and a PROPANE TANK. I imagine the propane tank is empty, but either way, it's quite unsettling to see smoke rising from a bottle sitting right next to a propane tank that is one table away from a family with a young child. That, one top of the wafting smoke smell as my sushi arrived, really sealed the deal on me never coming back here. read more

I've ordered twice here via DoorDash and each time has been great! I get the Maki Combination D which allows you to choose and 3 classic rolls. It's $23 and includes a miso soup - great deal! This time I got the white tuna jalepeno, Philadelphia and spicy yellow tail. I forgot what I ordered last time but I've enjoyed all the roles both times. The miso soup was also tasty. 4.5 stars After walking past SAKA's packed dining room and seeing all of their stellar reviews on Yelp, I decided to order delivery from there. First of all, the order arrived 10 minutes early. When does that ever happen?! Secondly, the food was excellent, and the portions were generous. Since it was my first time obtaining food from SAKA, I wanted to try both their sushi and their kitchen items. I started by eating my Eel Avocado Roll, which was a bit mushier than I typically like, but was also unbelievably flavorful! The ingredients all seemed fresh, and there was the perfect amount of sweet eel sauce included. I thought that rice was a bit overcooked, though. In addition, I had ordered the Hibachi Chicken, which came with my choice of white rice (complimentary), brown rice ($2.00 upcharge), fried rice ($2.00 upcharge), or noodles ($3.00 upcharge); I opted for brown rice. However, the online menu did not mention that the meal also came with a Clear Soup and hibachi vegetables, so it turned out to be much more food than I had anticipated. I kept the soup for another day, but tackled the main dish. I loved the light, tangy, and sweet marinade on the chunks of white meat chicken. The vegetables included carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini, and all were the perfect texture. The brown rice, on the other hand, was a bit stickier than I would have liked, but was certainly fine. When I went back to later enjoy the soup, I found it really flavorful, though the amount of pepper was a bit much on my palate. Overall, I thought Saka was fabulous, and I would definitely order from there again - whether live or delivery. read more

This certainly was not - 3 salmon, 3 tuna (poorly sliced, with cartilage), 3 fluke, 3 white tuna (gross), 1 kani cut in half, 1 small shrimp, 2 tamago, 2 radishes and an excess of shiso leaves which tasted off. For this price you should typically see something premium (ikura, uni, or maybe an oyster). Or at least some yellowtail. Sheesh. Very disappointing. Will not return. read more
