The food was great, fresh fish and all, but to see my account be charged by more than DOUBLE is insane. Please be wary if you decide to dine here. Food is good, but I'd recommend paying with cash so you don't get charged/scammed under your nose. I've been here a few times before and I always raved about this place, but unfortunately this recent visit may as well be my last. They had their late night special that is ~$26 after taxes as the lady that worked Sunday night 10/4 mentioned to me (to which I already knew of, that's why I went). I put $5 on tip to make it $31 and I'm now seeing a charge for $76 total even though I dined at 9:30 by myself. I was making sure I was being an easy customer as I understand the late night customer service atmosphere (I also work in customer service), but charging in a fraudulent manner really puts a damper on my point of view of this place. Wanted to try Sushi Koma for the price of $19.95 for lunch. Can't beat that. Sushi was ok, a lot of nigiri's had garlic sauce or some other kind of sauce. It was just ok to me. My kids also said it was just ok. The fish to rice ratio was a lot more rice than fish. Our usually spot is more fish than rice. I enjoyed the tuna nigiri, salmon nigiri, salmon belly nigiri, tuna belly nigiri. They were edible. Service was good. It was a lady with Golden State Warrior hat. She was friendly and compassionate. Restaurant was clean and tidy. My 9 year old complained about the bench seats not having cushion but he forgot about it once the food came out. Had a great experience when coming here for a date night. It's very nice and quite intimate spot for a casual date night. I wish the lighting was warming and maybe dimmer to make it more cozy and intimate but I understand it's probably because people want bright lighting. Food was great. My favorite was the Kamikaze roll! We also had the caterpillar roll which was very good and had a more savory taste and none of the spice hint that the kamikaze roll has. So I loved both. Also had the super Philly roll and it is very filling! Meant to be shared for sure if you're ordering a lot. We did 6 rolls in total and 8 orders of nigiri plus a seaweed salad. Wish I had gotten more pics before eating but we could wait haha Service was great. Was sat quickly. We came during the week so it is calmer than maybe weekend time. This was our first time trying out this sushi restaurant and it definitely hit the spot. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, so we were able to get seated immediately. The server let us know that they were currently offering a $19.99 AYCE lunch special, which I thought was a really nice incentive. Their menu was quite extensive so we narrowed down our "must-have" items that we always tend to order when we go out for sushi. We started off with a few of their appetizers, nigiris, and sushi rolls. The food came out really fast and our server was very attentive to our needs. All of the appetizers we tried were so tasty and very flavorful. The sushi was presented elegantly, tasted very fresh, and were proportioned well. FIRST OFF! WOW!!! We originally were wanting to go to Sakana but the line was 2 hrs so we found this place instead! Blown away by their quality of fish! I'm surprised there isn't more people here!! We enjoyed this place. It was all you can eat for $19.99 and then we ordered an al a carte udon for my youngest son while my eldest son ate his own lunch that we packed. I really liked how this place let the kids eat Al a carte and bring their own food. Some places give you a hard time and require you to pay half price for a child even if they don't eat anything, so that was good service. We went at 12 pm on Sunday, and it wasn't super busy. So that made the food come fast and it tastes good. Fish was fresh and portions weren't too big so you could order more and taste things! Thus, we would come back! Our daughter and son-in-law brought us to celebrate our anniversary and we were all very pleased with the food and the service. Everything we ordered was delicious. The rolls were fresh and came out in a timely manner. We were glad they offer half orders, so we were able to try several kinds of rolls. We were very disappointed with our experience at Sushi Koma. The first issue was the restrooms. There was no toilet paper, no soap, and no toilet seat covers, which was concerning from a cleanliness and hygiene standpoint. The menu was also very limited, and unfortunately, the quality of the food did not make up for it. The fish did not taste fresh and seemed more like it had been defrosted. Several pieces were served at room temperature rather than chilled and refreshing. The nigiri was especially disappointing. The hamachi was warm and mushy when I expected it to be cold and firm. The salmon was also warm and tasted like it had been sitting at room temperature. The rice portions were excessive and the rice was falling apart, yet they charge for uneaten rice, which made the experience even more frustrating. Even the water was room temperature and had a strong tap-water taste. As far as the atmosphere, the restaurant was very bright and lacked much of a vibe or ambiance--it felt pretty plain and boring. Between the restroom conditions, limited menu, room-temperature fish, poor texture and freshness, and overall atmosphere, we left very disappointed. The $20 AYCE lunch special makes it worth the commute off strip but note it's a limited time special. Might not be worth going out of the way otherwise. Fairly wide menu for AYCE. A range of appetizers, nigiri, and rolls. Would skip the fried apps as they're of the frozen pedestrian variety. But special shout out for the yellowtail nigiri which was very tasty such that we got a second round of just it. Salmon roe was satisfying. The one-time appetizer specials of the seared tuna carpaccio and the sashimi roll are worth an order too. The crowd peaks between noon-1:30 where the kitchen can get a little backed up. Called ahead and asked if we came a little earlier than 9:00pm if they would honor the $23.99 price per person. The gentleman on the line said that he would. We got there and we were in at 8:53pm and the waitress said that she would not honor the price.....even though the gentleman that I spoke to said otherwise.......strike one. Since we are pros ordering AYCE sushi, we ordered our usuals since every AYCE spot mainly has the same items. Food came and came fast. It was okay with a good rice to sushi ratio, but the only thing that bothered me was the lack of checking on our table for water and such and then as soon as we were done, they constantly asked if "we were finished", as if to tell us they were kicking us out. All while the table behind us had been there before we got there and is still there when we leave and I didn't hear anyone asking them if "they were done yet". That's a strike 2. Most annoying thing is we are with my daughter who is only 7 and she has to pay full price too.....strike 3. Now I know why they weren't packed like the other spectacular AYCE sushi spots in the southwest like It's Sushi, Smile Shota, Mr. Shota, and Sumo Sushi. Even though the sushi was ok, we will wait the extra 30 to 45 minutes going to restaurants where the customer service is impeccable and they do not rush you out so quickly. Our favorites today were the Volcano Roll and the Super Philli Roll, and the classic salmon nigiri was also excellent. I want to come back more often and try other rolls. We came from Cali to try out this spot that we saw on instagram. Deal was good for what it was worth. We did the $19.99 all you can eat. Heads up, kids older than 7 years old will still be charged adult prices. Even if they eat like birds. They will be charged adult prices. They don't want to tell you that til "after" you give the kids ages. We came in right when it opened on a Monday (yesterday) and we were a party of 12. He asked if we had a reservation I said no. It looked like we inconvenienced them with that number. We ordered, and food came out quickly. But for what ever reason, a lot of the items we ordered never got out. Plus, they have happy hour twice a day at $19.99 AYCE. I went at 1:00p yesterday. I ordered a few rolls, one of them a baked roll. The fresh roll was named the ponzio. It's a tuna and avocado roll wrapped with albacore and garlic ponzu sauce. The baked roll named the pania which had shrimp, tuna, cream cheese, koma sauce, drizzled with eel sauce. They both were good size and super tasty. Had a few standard rolls as well. I got a few egg rolls which were just okay for me. My son ordered a roll named the kamikaze which I highly, highly recommend. It's a spicy tuna roll wrapped with baked eel, avocado and eel sauce, prepared very well. They had baked green mussels which were pretty good but overly cheesy. The deep fried oysters were bland. The bulgogi was somehow watery and the meat was minced into tiny, tiny pieces. Saw an ad for after 9pm special $23.99 AYCE. Really good deal considering what you got. I think the only items that were excluded was the Uni and sweet shrimp otherwise everything else in the menu was available for the special. Pretty wide selection of Nigiri, rolls/hand rolls, and appetizers. They even had Halibut and Escolar which you don't usually see on an AYCE menu. The service was quick and friendly. Not the best quality AYCE I ever had as far as texture and flavor of fish and rice, but average. The selection and service was better than most.
