I enjoy getting sushi takeout from here the other day! I got the sweet potato roll in the shrimp tempura roll. Love the flavor of the teriyaki type soy sauce complimenting the sweetness of the sweet potato. The shrimp, tempura roll is pretty typical, but the fish eggs are a little, overpowering. The pieces of sushi were large, and it was a good filling portion for the price. We also tried the Gyoza, which was pretty typical but was nicely fried with a good crunch! We ordered online and my friend picked up the food, but I think it was a pretty seamless experience although she did have to wait a little bit. read more

Eaten here two times in the last month and both times the food was excellent. The miso ramen was on point. House salad was so satisfying with homemade dressing. We started ordering from Sushi Jin during the pandemic and it quickly became a favorite. I will say that they have some odd combinations of rolls- perhaps in an effort to cater to americans? I don't know- but please don't ever put cheese on my sushi. Either way- we went in person for the first time recently.. and then the second... and then the third. It's kind of a dark hole restaurant but their sushi was even better having it fresh. Their miso soup is my favorite! They have a fun one called burning love roll that come lit on fire- definitely makes for a fun date night! I wish they had a better wine selection (you get barefoot or cavit for white- neither a fav of mine LOL) but it's inexpensive and they give a good pour! We always do a sake bomb for nostalgia. They do have a good sake collection, its just not my fav drink. The servers are quick and helpful. We also ordered the mussels for an a pp and the beef udon noodles for a entree. The rolls were good but not amazing. I would say the fat caterpillar roll was the best one out of the ones we ordered. My girlfriend thought the Hawaiian bad boy was the best. Udon noodles were pretty good. I want to come again to try the teriyaki bowl, stone bowl and other special rolls. I love good ramen places and this is one such place. The warm, cozy place in the Silver Spring Ellsworth mall area. We had a couple of sushi rolls and their signature Spicy Jim Ramen. It's silky and spicy just like how it should be. They made it in chicken broth per our request. There are paid Montgomery parking garages around store and metered parking on the side streets. Both are free after 7pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. The only downside for this restaurant is that the place is usually full and there is no place for waiting. Ofcourse, there aren't any chairs but even for standing, only 4 people can stand in the waiting area at the max. Also, there is no shade outside the restaurant, so you can't go and wait outside if it's raining. Just call them ahead to make sure you have space or ask for reservation. The kitchen was a bit backed up so the staff offered us free beverages for the inconvenience. We were grateful. The food was delicious. Absolutely horrible customer service experience at Sushi Jin. I'm a regular customer who frequently orders delivery, but after today, I will never order from here again. I placed an order for three sushi rolls and requested masago as an add-on. Somehow, that small request resulted in an extra $10 charge, as if I had ordered a fourth roll. Confused, I called the restaurant to politely ask for an explanation. What I got instead was the rudest, most disrespectful customer service I've ever experienced. The manager answered the phone sounding immediately irritated, cut me off mid-sentence, and then told me to "call back in two minutes" before hanging up abruptly. When I called back, it got even worse. He raised his voice, yelled over me, and kept cutting me off, not even giving me a chance to explain the issue. I remained calm, but out of pure frustration at being yelled at and disrespected, I let a single curse word slip. "What the f*ck" That's when he hung up on me again. From there, it felt like a complete power trip on his end. He told me he wouldn't help unless I apologized. I apologized multiple times, yet he kept demanding more apologies like it was some sort of game. I then asked him for an apology for how he spoke to me--and he flat-out refused. He also refused to give me any contact info for a higher-up or the owner and said he would no longer answer my calls. To top it off, he told me to "come into the store and handle it" -- which honestly felt like a threat given the tone and aggression throughout our entire exchange. This was not just a misunderstanding. This was outright hostile and unprofessional behavior. No customer should ever be treated this way, especially when trying to calmly resolve a mistake. I ordered Spicy Jin Raman (?) last time. I'd like to review based on that. Broth: tasty Noodle: doesn't seem/taste fresh I was fine, but when I see the meat in the Ramen, I was speechless. The meat looks really old, you can even see the tendon, and extremely thick! But I gave it a try anyways, dang it tasted like char-shu pork (caramelized pork). It just doesn't make sense that extra sweet thick pork meat is in the Ramen. Egg : omg, this is not Ramen egg. This is just a boiled egg. I used to like this place because I only order appetizers. So very disappointed! This has been our fave and only local sushi place for years. We went tonight for the first time in about 6 months. Food was still good but service was terrible. Place was also not at all crowded on a Saturday night tho takeout was strong. Makes me wonder if they are under new management or what happened. The atmosphere is no longer warm and welcoming. And it was way more expensive than in the past and they said my Visa gift card would not go through though I just used it yesterday at a parking machine (worked fine) and double checked the balance afterwards. Two different ramen menus for lunch and dinner I would suggest just paying $1 more for dinner ramen because well more choices. This place is good like not average no it's really good in several ways. Sushi 10/10 the dragon roll was probably the best I've had in the states love the added tempura on the top gave it a beautiful crunch. Star of the show the spicy pork ramen it's actually a decent spice level but you can add more on the side which is great. Thw nitamago egg my goooooodnwss it was definitely marinated for at least a day or two because it's beyond good the flavor seeps alllllll the way to the egg yolk like what ! I would come back off the strength of the egg. The thing about this place is they give you a lot of food for a great price which encourages me to want to tell more people. They're not stingy with their portions ans do not over charge. The meat was thickkk usually I like a nice slice but this was well worth it still fall off the "bone" and seasoned well. They cook their ramen very similar to the way I had it in Japan and it's made it to my top 5 ramen list mind you in the dc and (Maryland) I've tried over 29 places. I am moving to Silver Spring and wanted to try this place since I love sushi. I was not disappointed. I got two rolls and my partner got ramen, but my favorite dish by far was the steam bun appetizer! The sushi and ramen were good but didn't blow me away. I want to come back and try different dishes next time. The food was fresh and very tasty overall. It is a small space so we could only be seated because we were willing to sit at the bar, but that shows how popular this place is. I am excited to come back and try more of the menu! read more

We weren't here much later than 6 after looking for somewhere local and really loving sushi (and me wating to satisfy a weird Ramen craving) and the place was pack. Thankfully we were only a party of 2 fresh off walking down Colesville road from a potential new apartment home. We sat at the "bar" in front of sushi chefs and watched them make everything. It's definitely a small restaurant, but we didnt feel crammed there and I've still got a bit of a Covid beer belly. Seating was comfy and honestly it didnt bug me that servers reach between me and the stranger on my left (fiancee was on my right) to grab dishes or whatever. That happens at a place like this. We ordered the Cha Shu Bun, the Cha Shu Ramen and the two sushi rolls: Bohemian rhapsody and a shrimp tempura roll. Weirdly the sushi isnt listed on the menu on the website at first glance unless i'm missing something, but it's an extensive menu. The sushi was all super fresh and held together well, so I dont know what other reviews were talking about or why people think it was mediocre, because both rolls were really good. The Ramen was really goodand satifying too, with a very flavorful broth (again some people think it's bland, which is just weird, and I guess those people grubhub'd it or something.) and a nice hefty amount of noodles and meet. I'd have liked another egg without have to pay $2 more but whatever. The Buns were amazing. Some of the best Bao style buns we haveever had. We split them and mine could have had the sauce spread a little more uniformly as I didnt get much on the first couple bites, but it was still amazing. Stopped in because it was on our walking path from the garage to The Fillmore. When they seated us, I probably should have noped out: the seat they placed me in felt like it was a sneeze away from collapsing; they were storing boxes of to go containers under the at-the-bar seating area, meaning I had no leg room while sitting in my rickety seat; when I looked in the fish case, the fish looked tired. Waitress handed us a stack of menus and a single sheet for selecting sushi. I always get nigiri while wife always gets sashimi. We clearly marked our respective selections and the waitress assured us she understood which pieces were to be which. However, when the plate was served over to us, what should have been nigiri was sashimi and vice versa. We didn't have time to wait for them to remake it, so we made do. Honestly, with as indifferent as the sushi was, correcting the swap wouldn't have markedly improved things. I went to this spot because the reviews were great. I was looking for some good ramen in silver spring. However the reviews are wrong. This is the worst ramen I've ever had. There's no add ons. The egg is not marinated in soy just a regular boiled egg. The chicken tasted charred or smoked. You're basically better off getting a pack for $1.25 at dollar general. They do have a bunch of specialty sushi rolls as well but good luck with those! read more

Decided to try this ramen spot that is within walking distance of my apartment because I looove ramen and sushi. We got the Cha Shu Ramen, Bulgogi Don, Avocado Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and a specialty roll called the Spicy Moon. The staff and ambiance was great but I was pretty disappointed in the ramen, my egg was overcooked which made me sad because I was really looking forward to a soft-boiled egg. I also felt the ramen was lacking a bit, most ramen spots I try have other items in the dish such as corn, sprouts, etc. I saw such good reviews of the ramen on Google so I was disappointed when it didn't meet my expectations. Was craving sushi and ended up going to Sushi Jin around an hour before closing. We were seated quickly and the staff was extremely kind and attentive. Our sushi came out quick and tasted pretty fresh. We got the milky sake and it tasted pretty good it had a banana flavor profile which was pretty pleasant. The Memory of Geisha roll was really good if you like a sweeter/slightly spicy roll, I'm usually not a big tuna fan but this was amazing (very fresh tuna). Jin's Yellowtail was also one of my favorites, it was a nice twist on the traditional yellowtail! The only thing we weren't a big fan of was the regular salmon roll. There wasn't a lot of salmon and it was mainly rice. Also, the rolls tended to fall apart really easily and some even came with cracks in the seaweed which sucked. read more

This place ,it's coziness and yummy food never fails. We've been coming here for years yet I'm not sure I've ever made a review. Ambiance , location, and space: it's a small location but very cozy. I love the decorations on the walls and that they place their specials on the wall. It's located right in the heart of downtown silver Spring therefore there is ample parking. Food: the sushi is amazing every time. Although this time around we didn't have the Ramen, that is also amazing! My hubby always orders the lasagna sushi and their deep fried sushi 2013 and the cheeseburger which were amazing. I always love the veggie ones, I had: Kimchi, crazy jungle and shiitake roll. This place has amazing sushi. But I'll start with the not as great to get it out of the way. The space is really tiny. Like crammed tiny. And during the warm days, when the door keeps being opened and closed, a lot of mosquitos get in and just basically swarm around you legs and bite you constantly. That was really difficult to enjoy and made us somewhat rush to finish our food and leave. The second time we went, it was colder so that helped a lot. Because of how small the place is, service is great because the staff have no choice but to walk by your table without any other route to take. So I guess that's a perk for having a small space. The sushi was really good. They have a good variety of rolls, from those who love cream cheese to spicy. The fish did not have that gross fishy taste, and the sauces they would add to their rolls weren't overwhelming. We thoroughly enjoyed every roll we ordered. And of course it was good enough that we came a second time during our time here. There's a lot of sushi spots out in the DMV area, but highly recommend giving this one a try! Went here for dinner before a concert (back before this pandemic, I'm just really late at reviewing). We went here based on reviews and they were PACKED! I'm not sure if there were many people there who were also going to the concert, but they all didn't seem like that kind of crowd. There isn't really a waiting area, and the restaurant is pretty tiny. It doesn't extend further back or anything. We only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, but there were still several people behind us waiting. I felt like our order took awhile to come out, but then again, I can't really blame them when they are that busy. Since the space is so tiny, you're basically sitting with the people next to you because they don't have much space in between the tables if you're at the left side of the restaurant where the booth seat is. The couple next to us seemed pretty high maintenance and complained a lot, but I felt that our order was great. Recently went here for date night with my boyfriend. I'm biased about how great this place is as I've been coming here for years (and surprisingly never left a review.) I wish I could pinpoint any one thing as my favorite but I can't. I always attempt to order something new and usually can never remember names of rolls anyway. This place is extremely small so be prepared to essentially rub elbows. Don't worry, this place attracts fun and kind patrons and staff alike. Food comes out at a reasonable pace, and you never feel rushed aside from the courtesy of wanting to free up your spot in a reasonable amount of time. Sushi I ALWAYS fresh and delicious. But honestly anything you order from here including the rice bowls are AWSOME & completely worth trying. For a special night I encourage you to order the BOAT! It's got a bit of everything & is delicious. If you're ordering out, they have easy to pick up service. If you're there in person they have a classic style (traditional) size Japanese restaurant. It's long & narrow and is comfortable for small parties but not large ones. There is ALWAYS a line out the door during prime dinner hours because it's that good. I ordered the stone box with Bulgogi meat and fried egg and it was amazing. The spicy Mayo made my meal go from a 8/10 to a 10/10. We had a pickup order through Uber app. Our order was delayed...seems to have a disconnect with Uber and the resto. They ran 1/2 hour later than the app estimated time! Ordered Cali roll Eel roll Shrimp tempura roll Shrimp tempura - missed Bulgolgi roll Nothing blew our minds but everyone liked everything well enough. We never got the shrimp tempura which we didn't find out until we opened the bag for dinner. My favorite was their wasabi. I was extremely impressed with this place. Came here as a suggestion because I was looking for a dinner place close to Fillmore. I sure am glad we were told about this place!! First, it's a very small place, so expect a wait if you come during a peak hour. Unfortunately, the "waiting area" is very small and crowded and there's no real place to stand, so that was uncomfortable. We were still seated in about 15-20 minutes. As for the food, I was loving the prices and flavors. The miso soup was average... probably would not order it again but tasted standard. The seaweed in the salad itself was very tasty, although I think the coleslaw like cabbage and carrots were unnecessary. I kind of just ended up picking them off. The edamame was delicious and unique. The coating of sesame oil with sesame seeds it's a combination I had never had before, but was surprisingly great. Loved this appetizer. For the sushi, the star was the yellowtail roll. It was so fresh and simple, but so so good. I loved the addition of the mango in the roll as it added a nice sweetness. The spider roll is one of my favorite sushi rolls in general and this once held up to some of the best I have had.
