Worst sushi place in Katy. Rude people, low quality sushi. Salmon on the sushi is a thin as a plastic wrap. I was shocked to see a piece of salmon can be cut this thin. Stopped by with my dad today for our weekly dinner outing! Service was very good. Staff was so sweet and friendly. I feel like good service really makes an establishment. We got the ayce sushi today! It was around $30 per person. Sashimi was very fresh and the sushi rolls were tasty. I really enjoyed the Lion king roll. You also have a lot of ice cream choices for ayce as well. Came in for a Friday lunch AYCE. Place was decently busy. Ordered about 20 something pieces of nigiri right off the bat and a couple of rolls along with some appetisers. (Rather get it mostly ordered instead of waiting to reorder) Appetisers (egg rolls and gyoza) were only so so. Egg rolls were all mushy on the inside would not get again. I was expecting smaller nigiris like some AYCE places do and was a little surprised when these were "full size". However, like some other reviewers have mentioned, the rice to fish ratio is definitely skewed towards more rice. But I get it...they're trying to make money too Waitress got some of my order wrong (asked for Tamago, but ended up with Masago). She had some trouble with the iPad and some items on the menu weren't on the iPad. Rolls again were surprisingly "full size", but were only so so. If there's a sauce, there's a little too much sauce and had to scrape some off Waitress checked up on us once or twice, but I know she had several other tables to wait. Didn't really get our waters refilled (or at least asked) but I wasn't downing cups of water. Waitress sort of forgot our tempuras (think they were sent to another table) but honestly, I was so full by then (of rice), I didn't even follow up. Food came out in okay time. Figured there were several tables, so turnaround time would be slower. Floor was a little sticky. It's about what I expect of a buffet of this calibre. At the end, I felt I got some value for only paying around $19 for AYCE. Quality is on par with what I expect a place like this offered. Not blown away but not dissatisfied. Slices of fish on sushi was thin, like grocery store sushi kind of thin. The salmon skin salad was super salty, will never get that again. Too much salt on the edamame too, I had to dip each one into my water cup to reduce the salt. Food came out slow for the AYCE lunch. This place has potential. Horrible service. Plates piled up on table and instead of removing the dirty dishes, they put our new dish on top of the dirty ones multiple times. When asked if they could remove it, Mimi our server, ignored it and asked if we needed put in new orders. When I told her no that I just needed the piled dishes removed, she smacked her lips and rolled her eyes. Tried following up on missing items and our server yelled at us that we didn't tell her the order. I told her never mind then and she told us to wait and went to the kitchen, came back and said someone took our order and she will put in a new one. So which one was it? Go somewhere else. When I look at reviews for sushi on Yelp, I begin to wonder if any of the other reviewers have actually had ANY decent sushi. While staff was friendly and an effort was made, it is not possible to hide a lack of quality in the ingredients. I think AYCE means "give portions as inexpensively as possible" in many cases. Sushi Ichii is in the old Nagoya spot. Btw, there's parking in the back for those that struggle to find parking in the front. Fairly typical sushi buffet. All is made to order so there's no cafeteria style which we love. A little more expensive than other spots around but sashimi cuts were thick and fresh. We tried every appetizer and favorite was the pepper tuna and mango salmon. Rolls are full of rice so start with sashimi and riceless apps before trying rolls. read more

We did the lunch buffet, which is $18.99 and includes numerous rolls, appetizers, soup, salad, dessert, fried rice, and fried noodles. There really is something for everyone here. They played pop music and the lighting was so nice and comfortable. It wasn't overly bright. We sat in a booth with neat changing colors. Honestly, it was such a great deal and our waitress was incredible. Basically I tried everything I always wanted to based on her recs. I will not return here. The good: The Sushi was actually good, (Sushi is actually one of the better servings in the area). The Coconut shrimp was ok but it was actually a little burnt. That is about as far as I would go with any compliments. The Bad: The various tempura all tasted the same, fried rice was very oily, Shaggy Dog had very small amount of shrimp inside and so much cream cheese in it that it should have been called a cream cheese roll. Also, none of us liked the sauce they used on the Shaggy Dog. Miso soup, gyoza and several other small dishes were rather blah. Then, at check out; the Waitperson pointed out several times as to how much she wanted for a tip which was printed at the bottom of the receipt, actually went out of her way to ask for that amount. I specifically asked no masago on the roll of course it was a ton. I called and let them know and requested a refund they tried to give a credit for future purchases but i knew i wouldnt be back. the lady who answered was extremely nice however she didnt trust i was telling the truth she stated she made a note so there was no masago and i clearly was looking at the roll with it on there. not until the kitchen confirmed did she believe me. they offered a refund. the fried rice didnt even have egg it was just rice no flavor no green onions nothing just rice and a tad of soy sauce (very bland). the chicken was over cooked and didnt have any seasoning. the veggies were ok they had teriyaki sauce on them. the cheeseckase was inedible you can tell they fry it the same grease as the shrimp as it tasted only of shrimp and no cheesecake. epic fail :-/. 3 is being generous bc they were quick and outside of the masago mishap the customer service was good. the sushi roll was smaller than i usually receive as well. won't be back food was literally a waste of money. read more

First it is AYCE so let's not compare to the best sushi you have ever had in your life. To me the rating is the value and expectation upon entering. First the wait staff was great. I did not know what I wanted but saw one roll and then asked the waitress to fill out my order with recommendations. I thought the food was really good. The maki rolls I thought were the best and her recommendations were way better than the one I picked for myself. The sushi was ok not amazing, the pepper sushi (I didn't order so not sure what it was) was really good, and I had so much food. Would recommend to anyone but do not come if you are going to compare to the high end sushi places you have been. I have been to all of them but there are times where I enjoy a lot of good sushi at a really good price. read more

Worst restaurant experience in years. Waitress was rude. She kept making the weirdest comments that were so wrong. The food was ok, but they intimidate you with big bold threats that any left overs will be charged on the AYCE menu. It was also the first thing that the smug waitress said when we asked about the all you can eat sushi. Felt very much like they were really wanting to fine you for any bite of food left on your plate. We are not wasteful people and always clean our plates, with the exception of nasty inedible food. Here we felt compelled to eat the last few pieces of pretty unpleasant sushi. Clearly they need to make more of an effort to make customers feel welcome and LESS of an effort to threaten patrons if they leave a bite of food on their plate. We will never return. PS. The price structure requires a lot of study to understand. That's a nice way of saying it's absolutely ridiculous. Depends on what day, what time, what age, which section of the ayce menu.
