I don't know why this place only has three and a half stars. We had lunch here today it was wonderful. The hostess/waitress was friendly and attentive. The sushi was excellent and we eat a lot of sushi, so I know sushi. I think some grumpy person complained about the music. The music is just loud enough to be heard. Just a little piano music tinkling in the background. I love the voice fish trailing across the wall over the tables. We will definitely come back when we are in Newberg. read more

The interior to this shop is cute and well done, didn't get a photos but loved the koi fish on the wall. The waitress was very friendly and made sure my water glass was always full. Great service but some of the items I ordered didn't seem super fresh. Most likely will not have sushi in Newberg again.

The ambience was fine, and the service was perfectly serviceable, though admittedly there weren't many people there when I went. However, I was unimpressed with the tonkotsu ramen. The chashu pork and other toppings were bland, the noodles were overcooked and too soft, and the broth was the most disappointing of all. read more

Came here for my mate's birthday August 2024. You got a lot of great food for a reasonable price (10-17 bucks). Interior is very clean, well decorated. Service was great/well timed, waitress was always topping off our water. Food was a little slow, but the reason for the slow service became apparent when they brought out our elaborately arranged boxes/rolls. One of us got a little scorpion the size of a plate made out of sushi rolls, it was beautiful and very tasty. Will come here again for sushi. read more

Just got through with a "procedure" at Providence so needless to say I was starving and wanted my favorite food. Hunted down my sushi and went in for the kill. Had a fabulous roll that was fresh and well made. Because I had been fasting I needed one more thing and had the Salmon Skin salad. Amazing!!!! Sushi is great and I would give it five stars, except I've been here twice and the EXACT same elevator muzak song plays on repeat over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. If you love sushi, don't eat here. Even if you think you can lower your expectations enough to try it, don't! This is the lowest quality fish I have ever experienced anywhere I dared to eat sushi and Im pretty daring. Spicy tuna roll is ground tuna with too much smoked spice which is hiding a lot of evils. Salmon is disgustingly fatty and yellow tail still had a thick inedible skin on it. We threw it out - may be off sushi for a while after this. read more

My food however was terrible I ordered a 20.00 combo plate and all my rice was hard and crusty it was very warm the fish was sweating. My Thai tea was Terrible. My daughter and her husband had dinner at Sushi Hunter soon after they opened and they were disappointed in the value of their meal. They felt it was overpriced for the size of the dinner sushi. I decided to visit at lunch on a Friday at 11:30. The restaurant was not very busy. Just 4 tables had customers. I was greeted by a friendly face and I asked for a menu thinking I would take-out. I was handed a lunch menu and their full menu. The full menu is quite extensive. At the moment my daughter text me and asked what I was doing. She ended up joining me and we had lunch at the restaurant. I enjoyed the decor. The restaurant is well decorated and has a clean look.......well except the plastic Easter tulips.. Love the Koi Fish on the wall. I ordered the Tonkotsu Roman with Pork. I asked for Sriracha to give it flavor Much small serving lacking in pork. It was a bowl of noodles in broth for $10. I can not say much about this meal because there is just nothing to say about nothing. My daughter had a Bento Box with the fried chicken. Nothing special again. I feel the chicken comes frozen and is not breaded in house. The whole Bento box was bland with the ice berg lettuce salad having dressing that tasted like runny Miracle Whip and not at all like other Asian dressings I have had on a Bento Box salad. My daughter also ordered the double spicy tuna roll lunch to-go. It seemed to have quite a bit of sushi and may be a better deal than what we had in-house. In all: the service was very friendly but, for mostly empty tables, we waited quite a while for our meal. The prices are high compared to the amount of some meals. The restaurant was clean and so was the restroom but the soap dispenser was empty which was not good. There is only one unisex restroom. read more

It was in the middle of our heat wave. Too hot to cook at home. Looking for something other than a hamburger or taco. Our grandson said he had been to Sushi Hunter and enjoyed the food. We ordered the rainbow roll and shrimp. They were both very good but we especially like the shrimp. It was very busy,when we went. Worst pick up service I've experienced. I called to order at 6:45pm, arrived at 7:10pm, and didn't get my order until 7:33 pm. When we arrived the server told us it was almost ready, which was obviously a complete lie. At 7:25pm I asked her how much longer it would be and she said 10 more min, which made no sense since she said it was almost ready at 7:10pm. This is the second time this happens. I hate to have to leave this review but something has changed here. The owners were always so amazing and even thoight the wait times were long the food ALWAYS came out fresh and so delicious! Tonight was an entirely different experience. We ordered calamari, green mussels, beef terriyaki, combo yakisoba and 2 sushi rolls. We asked for spicy mayo to go along with the calamari. When the calamari came out it was luke warm...and didnt have the spicy mayo.I reminded him about the spicy mayo. He never brought that back. When he finally checked back in after we had tried to get his attention multiple times (by the way, they have a 4 table max right now...not that busy and he spent a lot of time standing by the Sushi Chef joking around and A LOT of time on his phone) when he finally came back over we kindly let him know the calamari was cold and he argued with us that it was hot when it came out. He argued with us!! And it was most definitely not hot! So he said, Ill throw it back in the fryer-and my husband obviously said thats kind of gross, can we just get a new order? Well...he brought out the re-fried batch of calamari. I know this because we left a half eaten piece( because it was cold) and that piece was still on the plate..along with the fact that it now tasted like a fried rubberband. The terriyaki beef also came out luke warm however the rice was piping hot. The yakisoba came out hot but the meat was rubbery. The sushi rolls were fine but we were so annoyed by the entire experience we had really lost our appetite. Please understand..I work in the service business and I always try to be so kind and understanding but the moment you start arguing about MY experience it's over! So to top it off, he charged for the calamari, which I politely asked him to remove and he came back with a bill where he added a charge for the spicy may. This was $130 meal for 3..it felt very petty. Unless we walk in and see the owners, we will walk back out. We have been going to Sushi Hunter since 2017 and this was the WORST experience we have ever had. So sad because they used to be the top choice for us! read more

I was really happy to see a sushi place so close to home, so we gave this a try. I know it is their soft opening and they still have a lot to improve upon.... so here are my suggestions... The temperature in the restaurant was freezing. It wasn't even that hot this evening so to keep the ac blasting in the restaurant made it hard to enjoy the meal. We were shivering and dying to leave by the end. The food took a very long time to come out because it looked like there was only one guy behind the counter. Rolls were pretty overpriced for what they were. I wouldn't say they were anything spectacular or fresh tasting. 40 bucks for 3 rolls (and tip), and we left cold and slightly hungry still.... Came in and we were greeted by attentive staff. I got the Tokyo box to try a few different dishes. The gyoza and California roll were good, the teriyaki chicken was not my favorite. Someone else for the Chicken Tonkatsu ramen and jt was great, robust and full of grilled chicken. Another member got the Dragon Box and really liked the Tempura shrimp and vegetables. Only drawback was no liquor license so we couldn't enjoy Kirin which is one of the reasons we came, ha! Next week they are getting their license. read more

Sad to see some of the reviews. My daughter and I went here after a softball game and we were pleasantly surprised to find this little treasure in Newberg. We both did the lunch special, which was 2 rolls, miso and cucumber salad. OMG Delish!! They gave you 6 to ate pieces in each roll you chose. They have so many rolls to choose from it is crazy. The cucumber salad is the best I have ever had (I know not much to a cucumber salad, but what ever they do to theirs it really is fantastic). My rolls were so fresh, that when my daughter was done devouring hers, she decided to try and finish off mine (she got 1 and a chopstick to the finger). Every time we have a game in Newberg this is our go to place. If you like sushi you will like this place. read more
