I can't believe it's been two years since I was here. I must have forgotten. The location has something to do with that. It's a little further up the road from a community ice cream shop. The service is quick and friendly. No line waiting to take your order. They are always busy it seems. The food just keeps coming out fresh and hot. Not much on ambiance. Basic sit and eat with tv a mix and match of chairs. Lots of tables for two. Which seems to be how every on comes in pairs of two. If there are seats they sit and eat and leave if there are no seats they take their order and leave. Kind of a game time decision. Lots of to go orders being made and taken as you wait. Maybe phone ahead of your short on time or in a big rush. Not too long god a wait as they have it down. Nothing fancy. Good fast food usually to go read more

Five years later, the place is probably worse for wear. Fortunately, the food is still to notch. I had the bulgogi with a side of goyza. Large portions, hot, well spiced. I still like the house made dressing on the salad although the wife didn't care for it. The food was moist and very tasty. The wife had their teriaki chicken. The sauce is thick, closer to a glaze than a sauce, rich and sweet. The chicken is char broiled to perfection. Think pieces of chicken and another generous sized portion. Her conclusion "I liked it a lot". Our son went for the yakisoba with chicken. The chicken was good but the noodles didn't get very high marks. Sadly, the most hungry of our group got the smallest portion. He also felt the miserly portion of rice was a disappointment. The place is still crazy busy. Calling ahead is probably going to be your best bet. The staff, although overwhelmed with all the customers are cheerful and helpful. Get it to go, you'll be happier that way. read more

Ramen! Decent ramen this far out on the East Side is rare and this place delivers. It's not the greatest (I would have given it 4.5,) but I am SO happy there is a decent ramen place close to me. This play is so good! It's taken forever to actually finally walk in there to eat but was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the chicken friend rice and put a couple of their sauces on the side for an occasional dip. All made fresh to order!!! We ordered the spicy chicken with a side of gyoza. The gyozas were crispy & delicious. Our chicken was a little bit on the dry side. Next time we would just order the teriyaki chicken. The complementary egg flower soup was really good! We would give this place another try. read more

Oh my goodness, this place knows what they're doing. Best teriyaki I have ever had. For real. Even my picky 8 year old daughter went CRAZY for this place. The chicken was juicy, flavorful & totally addictive. Their yakisoba was beyond any yakisoba I have had in my life. Please do not go here. The owner (Mr. Song) is rude and disrespectful. I got a job here. I lasted a week. He does not explain everything to me and when he does he is hard to understand because his accent is so thick. He doesn't let the cashier get off on time or care that he is legally supposed to give us all break. Yes I know the food is amazing. But I've seen him deal with everyone (customers and employees) and by far the cashiers and customers get the worst end of the stick. read more

The food here is awesome however there is a lot of turnover by serving staff and I think it's because they aren't treated well.

The lunch special is outstanding. Teriyaki chicken with rice, salad, and 4 gyoza or an egg roll (depending on the day) for $6.25. The sauce is excellent and the gyoza are a consistent golden brown. The portions are generous; enough for lunch or dinner and a cold snack later when you pull it out of the refrigerator for just one more taste. From the normal menu, I love the spicy chicken. It really is spicy and has a great flavor. The staff is friendly and hurries to complete each order, but Nara gets very busy during the height of lunch or dinner. While the dining room is small and spartanly decorated, they are constantly filling take-out orders. The parking is also very limited. The consistent excellence of the food guarantees that this little restaurant will be around for years and I'm happy to live close by. read more

Sure, the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, but the portion sizes and the beautifully grilled chicken with sauces that just hit the mark for me have ensured that I will be a return customer. I am writing this review at my workplace in Tigard, two days after eating there for the first time, and I am actually contemplating whether or not I can make it all the way out to Nara in Newberg and back on my lunch hour. Went in today cause I was craving chicken Katsu. Got my chicken Katsu went back home & when I took a bite the chicken was so hard & rubbery I thought I wasn't eating chicken for a second. Called them back to see if they could make a new one & I went over the old man gave me my money back & decided not to cook my chicken. He literally said "no more fried chicken." Apparently they only have one fryer and they use that for there Gyozas and tempura that the temp is set so high that they need to double dip the chicken to fry the outside panko layer and when that happens the chicken over cooks. I have never felt disrespected before.. & to have the old man not cook the chicken just show poor customer service. Saw that they had 3 1-2 stars review but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but I was highly disappointed. Never going here again. read more
