Ventured out to Ambler to try Sushi Hatsu and was very impressed. The space is bright and modern. We were greeted with hot towels to wipe our hands, what a thoughtful touch! Service was friendly and very knowledgeable about menu items. We tried the Korean shortrib empanadas they were delicious. We also ordered a variety of sushi rolls and they were very fresh. I had hoped for just a bit more flavor from the specialty rolls but overall I was happy with what we had ordered.

Sushi was delicious and so so fresh, but felt the prices were a bit steep for their specialty rolls especially. Great service and nice atmosphere. Not too crowded on a Friday night either.

Sushi Hatsu os a really tasty sushi spot. It's on the main drag on Butler Pike. Bet you might have driven by and didn't notice. Now you will! There's about 20 tables inside. When we walked in, it was pretty loud and full. We were seated quickly. It was easier to talk after some folks left (it was 8pm). The sushi is well presented and full of flavor. You can expect to pay $8 for an AAC roll, and twenty for a really cool one. They even have "specials" which sound quite intriguing. The chicken dumplings were fabulous too! I definitely recommend this place. Not good for groups or kids (they won't appreciate how good this is).

Corkage fee and 3% credit card surcharge - they really must not want return customers!

This is a tale of two restaurants. Before COVID, this was a great restaurant that we would visit every month or so. Now in 2023, the portion sizes have gone down (e.g. Empanadas - they ruined them and they are half the size) and they added corkage fees and a 3% credit card surcharge - wtf? There is no way in hell I am going back to a place in the suburbs that has those charges. Hatsu needs to check themselves - they aren't Morimoto and Ambler isn't Rittenhouse Square. I'm doing you a favor going into Ambler - parking sucks and there's nothing to do after you eat. At least in Doylestown or New Hope there are interesting stores and coffee shops to visit. I didn't even get to our server not mentioning the Daily Specials - wtf. Chef Harrison Kim must have left, because those empanadas suuuucked! Bye bye Sushi Hatsu - you were once great, but you don't treat customers like that.

Yummy cute spot for sushi in the area! Service was a little slow but the food was still good~ especially the green tea panna cotta!! Good place for a date night :D

We came here for Valentine's Day and while it was pretty busy, we got seated on time for our reservation. The host and waiters were very attentive and nice. Inside was romantic and dimly lit. The food did take a while to come out- not sure if it's because they were more busy that day. We got calamari, two sushi rolls, and two hand rolls. I thought that the calamari and sushi we got was good but not the best. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the sushi rolls we got. However, we really loved the hand roll! We got scallop and a fatty tuna hand roll. It was so delicious and melts right into your mouth!

Twice in a week my preconceived ideas about sushi in the suburbs have been proven wrong. My niece was visiting and requested sushi. We found this place minutes from the hotel and decided to give it a try. We were thrilled with the entire experience. Our waiter Raphael was awesome- he was friendly and attentive, he suggested a few dishes, we selected a bunch more and we feasted. We started with the wasabi edamame- which had a nice little bite, the carpaccio with truffle oil was exquisite, the fried dumplings were stuffed with nicely seasoned pork, the little empanadas were a fun fusion, miso soup was not your average miso, it had an assortment of mushrooms, the rolls were all very good, we didn't go with anything too extravagant, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese pumpkin and tuna crunch varieties. We topped off the evening by sharing the scrumptious strawberry cheesecake. It was a memorable meal. Can't wait to return.

$22.00 worth of scallops!! These guys are jerks.

OMG!!! Ordered take out, got the "Pan Seared Scallops" for $22.00 and Got 2 scallops. That's it. So $11.00 each! What a freaking rip off!! Never again. Sushi Hatsu is off my list . I don't care if they offer me free soup, I'll never go back. And, if they rip you off on the scallops what else are they screwing you on?? I just bought 1.5 Lbs of fresh scallops from Whole Foods and paid $27.00. Screw you Hatsu!!

The food is really good. I love the green dragon rolls. However, $15 for what you see in the picture which is three empanadas is a little excessive. They should put more empanadas in the order is all I'm saying. But they were cool. They stayed open for us. We were five minutes late. That was very nice of them but five dollars an empanada. That's 40 minutes of work if you made minimum wage for 1 empanada.

Come here for the sushi and desserts! I came here a couple of times with my husband and my friend and was not disappointed. It's a really cute BYOB restaurant located in the heart of Ambler. I love their fresh sushi and cold appetizer but I am not a fan of their sushi rolls nor their hot food. The staffs are very attentive and knowledgeable and were able to answer all my questions. Since it's a newly open restaurant, the restaurant itself is very clean and so is the bathroom. When you ever visit this place, try to touch the bottom of your table. They put a carpet under the table so even if you bang your knee (#tallpeopleproblems), it doesn't hurt as much. I highly recommend the Japanese uni with quail egg and madai tiradito.

Who are the owners of this sushi restaurant? Do they have any affiliation with the Osaka restaurants in Philly and Lansdale?

Harrison Kim is the son of the owner of Osaka but the father has no interest and has nothing to do with Sushi Hatsu.

You can tell Daniel (the owner) actually cares about how everything runs. The place is clean, organized, and everything flows smoothly without feeling rushed. And Christina... she's seriously the best. Super friendly, easy to talk to, and actually helps guide you through the menu. She was on point with the specials and made great recommendations. We even got into a conversation about her trip to Peru, which was a really cool touch it felt natural, not forced, and made the whole experience better. We started with the Leche de Tigre, and it was a perfect opener, fresh, citrusy, and packed with flavor. You get that brightness from the lime with just the right kick, plus the calamari added a nice texture. We also tried one of the specials, the causa, which was light but still full of flavor and a great way to start. For the mains, we went all in. The Cowboy Steak (18 oz bone-in ribeye) was easily the highlight, cooked right, super flavorful, and paired with the huancaína risotto and that huacatay butter... yeah, that combo is no joke. We also had the pollo a la brasa (special, marinated 24 hours), and you can tell it was super juicy, well-seasoned, and done right. We also had the pasta con mariscos, and this one deserves its own mention. Homemade pasta with shrimp, calamari, and mussels in a chupe-style tomato broth rich, flavorful, and comforting without feeling too heavy. Definitely one of those dishes you keep going back to. And I'm not even exaggerating... the table bread with the butter? We were eating like it was part of the main course. That butter is ridiculously good. Dessert sealed it. The lava cake with lucuma ice cream was warm, rich, and balanced out perfectly by the ice cream. We also tried the house-made guanábana sorbet, which was light, refreshing, and the perfect way to finish after a heavy meal. The vibe is what really ties it all together. It's casual enough to hang out with friends and talk, but still nice enough for a date night or bringing family. It doesn't try too hard, and that's exactly why it works. Overall, everything just clicked: food, service, atmosphere. No weak spots. Definitely coming back. This version is clean, structured, and reads like someone who actually understands what they're talking about, not just listing food.

The staff were super friendly and checked in just enough without being annoying. The food was the best part for sure. Everything tasted fresh and actually well-seasoned, especially the seafood. There's also a nice variety on the menu, so it's easy to find something you'll like. Overall, it's a really solid spot. If you're into seafood or just want something different with good flavor, I'd definitely recommend it. I'd go back for sure.

We were looking to try a different restaurant this weekend, and decided to try Seven Seas…read more We started with a yummy roasted eggplant remoulade with tomato. I put it on the fresh pita and it was an excellent starter. We ordered the Caesar Salad - it was very good - fresh, green leafy lettuce - crispy croutons, a sprinkling of grated cheese, and a delicious dressing. Next up, the Crab Bisque. I lived in Maryland for 30 years and had crab bisque many, many times. This was the first crab bisque that wasn't tomato based - it was a brownish, creamy version. It was more like chowder - although when I looked up 'bisque', it most certainly can be creamy. I might have been fine with the 'creamy version', but it lacked any crab flavor and had no crab in it - not one shred. I've never had any fish soup that had no fish in it. I took a few spoonfuls and left it. My partner tried it and came to the same conclusion. The entrees came next - I got the Seared Branzino and my partner got the Shrimp and Scallops. The Seared Branzino was okay - there were bites where I had a very fishy taste - and it was a very small piece of fish. My partner's Shrimp and Scallops came with steamed garlic spinach and mashed potatoes. The Scallops were tender and cooked perfectly - they were in a delicious sauce and had a very nice sear. However, the Shrimp were tough and chewy - we were both very surprised to have one item (scallops) so good, and another (shrimp) on the same plate, that was so bad. The steamed garlic spinach and mashed potatoes were very good. While our Caesar salad, Scallops and side dishes were very good, the rest of the meal was lacking.
