I was ordering nearby and decided to try a couple sushi rolls as an appetizer. I got the salmon skin roll and the shrimp mango roll. Flavor-wise, they actually weren't bad. You could taste the mango, and the salmon skin had a nice crunch. My biggest issue though and it's a major one for me, the sushi fell apart when I picked it up with chopsticks. Sushi should stay together, and both rolls immediately started coming apart. That alone really affected the experience for me. The place itself is very small, cozy, and intimate with low lighting and little booths. Service was fairly quick, and there's private parking which is convenient. It was a little warm inside, probably because the kitchen area is so close to the dining space. Overall it was ok. I may give them one more try someday, but usually when sushi falls apart the first time, the second visit ends up disappointing me too. We got a free shrimp tempura roll since our order was over $30, so we got 7 rolls and seaweed salad for about $50. You really can't go wrong with Sushi House's bento boxes if you're an indecisive eater. I'm one of those people who pores over menus and stresses about making the wrong choice (i just want to try everything!). You don't have to worry about that here, though - just choose a bento box or one of Sushi Houses other combo specials and you feel like you're getting a taste of the menu at an awesome price. I've been here twice, once for takeout and once for dine-in. Both times, I got a smattering of items - tempura, salad, a protein, miso soup, rolls, even shumai! And unlike some places that cut corners on combos, every item that came out on my bento box or combo plate was fresh and delicious. The salmon was well cooked and super tasty, the tempura was crispy and light. Even the California rolls were decently filled with avocado and surimi - not overflowing with rice or cucumber filler. Everything was the right temp too - either piping hot or nice and cold, so nothing was waiting around under a heat lamp or getting warm on a counter while everything was put together. My eat in experience was also great, really wonderful service and super clean and quick (without feeling rushed). Would love to come here with a group to get even more of a taste of the menu. They obviously do not understand the concept of gluten, as a piece of fish without a flown free sauce is gluten free. Rice is gluten free. It's cheaper than some other sushi places for the same quality of sushi, so that is good. Actually, the sushi tasted pretty decent! There were a variety of different types of rolls. I try to get the ones with salmon, which I wanted more of, and it was decent. Also, even though the prices were more affordable, the place looked nice inside. It wasn't dirty and looked like a typical sushi restaurant. I don't think they use the powder wasabi which was good. This is easily my favorite sushi spot. The place is small and cozy. The service is always very quick and fast. The rolls are very tasty and their wasabi tastes better than your average one. What I really like about their rolls are that they don't use excessive rice unlike a lot of other places. My favorite rolls are the Pink Lady, Tamago, and Xmas. No distinctive wasabi taste or punch, rather bland. Sushi was not properly cut in sushi style, but rough, with extraneous meat hanging on side. Most of it tasted average with some of the regular sushi pieces tough and thicker than normal. I've been eating sushi for the past 40+ years and have had it in Japan, Europe and the West Coast of the United States. Here in Ambler, I've been spoiled by Sushi Hatsu, but they don't be open until May 2022. I figured I'd give this place on an off day to see if their product is as fresh on Sunday as it is on a Friday. It wasn't worth the almost $20, and soy wasn't included. In my opinion, not worth it. Fish - the salmon tasted fresh. I eat a lot of sushi and the salmon is definitely up to par with the finer restaurants. The tuna, however, was definitely not fresh. Crumbled in my mouth with each bite. And being that tuna was my favorite, a majority of my order was tuna so I was disappointed. I couldn't even finish the tuna. The rice to fish ratio for the rolls was great. Not too much rice, so you can really taste the fish. However, since the tuna wasn't fresh, this wasn't a positive. Good on the salmon rolls though. And the presentation was spectacular. The wait staff was very attentive without being bothersome. No complaints there. At 50% off the menu price, the place is a good deal. We're talking about $3 for a basic salmon roll and $5-$6 for a specialty roll like a spider roll (soft shell crab roll). I'm not sure exactly when this place opened for business, but the receipt still says Mei's at the top, so were talking pretty recently. A standard sushi bar menu - see pictures. Not everything is 50% off, but most of the sushi is. They also do Pad Thai. We had the seaweed salad which was standard, good; the pork gyoza, which was excellent - some of the best we have had, and vegetable tempura - sweet potato, onion, green beans, zucchini, carrot - very nice. The salmon sushi was very fresh. The Sunshine Roll - with banana - was almost a dessert sushi - was very delicious. The scallop tempura roll was crunchy and tasty. The Hawaiian Roll - with two types of mango - very nicely done! Finally the Pink Lady Roll was sort of like Chinese food in a sushi roll. We eat a lot of sushi and thought this was very good quality. Okay first thing first, I've eaten a lot of sushi and Asian related food in my lifetime so I like to think I know what I'm eating. Truthfully I don't know how it got a 4/5 star review because I don't feel anything from it. While waiting for them to order my food, I heard them telling these group of college kids that they should be tipping 20% because it's customary because she was clearly not happy with the amount she got. There was 2 other waiters with that one so they were pretty overstaff for the small area they have. Secondly, the sushi wasn't that great. The bread crumbs in the spicy crab tasted stale. I've also attached a picture of the eel cucumber roll I've ordered. Only one thin slice of eel so in the entire roll it was maybe 3/5 cucumber and 1/5 rice and eel. I've also order a pad Thai and I'm not happy about it. Tasted like Japanese noodle than Thai noodle because there wasn't any peanut taste in it.
