Pepper Tuna (Custom Roll) + Eel + Assorted Sashimi

This is my first time in Texas by myself and not with friends. I've been out to see as a veteran for about 4 years and I have the say everything I tried was top notch. I may have came here at a good time where there was no particular service to focus on other than me, but between the three sake fact I got and all the fresh fish that was available everything flavor-wise was amazing. However, the service went above and beyond and made sure I was good even though I was bouncing from the restaurant and the store next door. They made sure I was okay And as soon as another customer walked in he was able to treat them with the same expeditiousness I was given. There was only two people however behind the counter I didn't even given time. So for anyone who does come here, definitely take note of how many people are in the building before you sit down. 10 out of 10, would definitely recommend.

We were initially told the wait would be about 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to an hour. Once we were finally seated, ordering through the iPad was simple and convenient. The sashimi and hibachi dishes arrived quickly, while the specialty rolls and fried items took considerably longer because of how busy the restaurant was. To get the most value out of an all-you-can-eat experience, I usually focus on ordering sashimi. My favorites were the salmon, yellowtail, and eel, all of which were fresh and enjoyable. The spicy scallop sushi was the standout of the entire meal and easily my favorite bite of the night. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and that was the one I kept going back to. The steak hibachi was solid, with well-seasoned meat and generous portions. The fried oysters and crab rangoons were both crispy and cooked well without feeling overly greasy. The specialty rolls were good too. While none of them particularly stood out, they were all enjoyable and well made. Overall, there was not a single dish that I disliked. Even with the much longer-than-expected wait, the quality and variety of the food made for a satisfying all-you-can-eat experience. If you plan on visiting during peak dinner hours, I would recommend expecting a wait, but once you're seated, there are plenty of options to make the meal worthwhile.

During that time, other customers walked in and were greeted almost immediately. Other tables were being attended to and orders were being taken, and the restaurant did not appear to be understaffed or overwhelmed. What made the experience especially uncomfortable was that my wife and I were the only Hispanic customers in the restaurant at the time. Seeing other customers receive noticeably different treatment made us question whether our ethnicity had anything to do with why we were being ignored. I cannot say for certain that this was the reason, but that was genuinely how the situation made us feel. We ultimately decided to leave because we should not have to sit there wondering whether we are being treated differently because of who we are. Everyone who walks into a restaurant should be welcomed and treated with the same level of respect and attention. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and looks into how customers are being treated, because this was not the experience we expected.

To summarize my review before it begins, Masa is now my destination if I am craving sushi and Japanese food. The atmosphere was elegant, which makes it stand out from other surrounding sushi restaurants. We started off with cold sake and Ahi Poké Nachos, which were crispy and delicious. My friend and I split Sushi Combo C, which features 20 pieces of assorted sushi with California and Spicy Tuna rolls. The sushi was very fresh and skillfully made. The Tamago was freshly made with the traditional chopstick method. This was the best sushi I have had since I dined at Nobu in Las Vegas. Our companions had the chicken katsu Bento Boxes because they wanted an assortment of things to try. The tempura battered shrimp and vegetables were lightly crunchy and delicate. After dinner, the four of us had a round of Ninja Drop martinis, which were tangy and sweet. The owner, Michael Zhou (pronounced "zjoe"), came over to say hi. He encouraged us to try one of his favorite items, the Ahi Tuna Tartare, which was spectacular. To finish, we had a couple of bottles of hot sake alongside some yummy mochi ice cream. Our experience was amazing. Our server, Jordan, took great care of us, and we all had a great time. I was looking for an elevated experience, and I got exactly what I was looking for and more. I can't wait to eat here again and try other things on the amazing menu!

There's decent space inside, but not suited for large gatherings. The location is a little difficult to find. Komeya is crammed into a small business strip next to a busy street. Parking may be difficult. Their menu is 90% sushi, but they have other dishes. Their ramen and rice bowls are excellent. Every day, Komeya has a different special of the day, food they don't typically serve on their menu like Korean fried chicken wings or fried mochi with banana for example. Prices aren't too bad. I wouldn't recommend the green curry ramen. It didn't remind me of Asian curry and it lacked flavor, though the chicken in my green curry ramen was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My big brother and his wife are sushi fanatics. They would love to come by here!
