I've been here twice now and had a great experience both times. Their Omakase pre-fixe used to be $75 a couple years ago but now it is $80 which is understandable considering inflation and the economy these days. The price is fair in my opinion for an appetizer (albacore with cucumber and seaweed), 11 pieces of sushi, miso soup (or deep fried shrimp head) and dessert (vanilla ice cream sprinkled with matcha powder). All the sushi was very fresh! I do think the portion size is slightly on the smaller end for their nigiri sushi but not by much. It was still very delicious and satisfying. We also really enjoyed their Kirakucho Junmai Ginjo Kitsune sake! So smooth! Service was great! No complaints. Definitely make reservations ahead of time. They get pretty busy and it can be hard to do a walk-in especially if you're in a group. Parking: free in plaza lot but limited spaces. There's also residential street parking nearby.

My husband and I had the omakase to celebrate my birthday and were pleasantly surprised. The lights were a bit dim and made for a relaxing experience. Definitely get a reservation!! It comes out to an appetizer (we thought was ok), 3 dishes of sashimi, including a hand roll, fried shrimp head/miso soup and ice cream. I loved how each piece had its own sauce/marinade/flavor and was truly an experience. We were worried it might not be enough food but were happily full by the end of the meal. The seafood is very fresh and the service is very attentive. Sushi Chitose is a great option if you want to stay in the South Bay and not have to drive to Little Tokyo/LA.

A hidden gem! This sushi restaurant is small and intimate but passionate about providing good quality sushi and service. Went for their omakase and added on a couple of oysters. Also had some green tea which is free refills. The kind staff is diligent about refilling drinks and checking in. I asked the sushi chef how long he has been a sushi chef and he said 40 years! What's even more amazing is that they import most of the fish from Japan except for the blue fin which is from Boston and the uni which is from Santa Barbra.

Made reservation for dinner. Tried the Ankimo and oysters which were both pretty good. Got the omakase. The food was okay. The rice was a bit dry and lacking vinegar. Would be nice to know which nigiri needed soy sauce and which fine. Service was A+++ with the waitress coming by frequently to refill drinks. 3.5 for the food. 5 for the service.

One of the most affordable sushi omakases in the area! Definitely need to call ahead and reserve (saw a sign that said they don't take walk ins). Still thought the quality was good and had some great cuts of fish. All super kind here and definitely feels like a comfy hole in the wall type spot. Also, would recommend ordering the shrimp head instead of the miso soup! It was nice and crispy and super shrimpy.

Omakase was delicious! Service was excellent. Parking lot was small but we got there right when they opened so we had parking.

Went here anticipating I would just grab take out. Instead when I got there, the open sign was not on and it said "no walk-ins" on a sign on the door so I almost left. However, seeing it was a bit of a drive to get there, I decided just to double check and go in. I wasn't super hungry and the person I talked to was super nice. I could have ordered from a list of available items, but she suggested trying the omakase experience. You pay a set price up front ($75) and leave the rest to them. I wasn't super hungry, so was a bit hesitant, but decided to give it a go. I have always heard about it, but never have done it. Wow! Such an amazing experience starting with a delicious and beautiful appetizer, then the following 12 (?) pieces of sushi artwork were something I have not experienced before, to the crispy shrimp "side"?, and the mini ice cream closer. Yum! I learned a lot from the sushi chef and experienced lots of sushi I would have never thought of trying...Japanese sea bass, raw shrimp, scallop, toro, uni with soshi, ikura, unagi, crab hand roll..to name a few. I sat at the sushi bar, solo, and another small group of three were at the end/around the corner. There were a handful of couples at the tables doing their own ordering. It was an intimate and calming space where I had the best seat to watch the sushi makings in action. So glad I took a chance on the unknown, which now is very much known. My sushi level of expectations has just been risen quite a bit after this experience. I hope I don't get too frustrated with the options we have in CO.

We came here for my birthday for my very first omakase experience, and overall, it was pretty fun! I definitely had a great time. Since it's a reservation-only place, the atmosphere is quiet and intimate. There seemed to be just one server and a sushi chef, which created a nice, personal vibe. The server took our order and promptly served each dish, being really attentive about things like getting us hot water. For $75, the omakase was well worth it, especially since many places charge way more. I did take off one star because I felt like the sushi wasn't cool enough. I usually enjoy my sushi a bit chilled, but every piece I had was room temperature, which was a bit different for me. Overall, the ambiance, service, and food quality were excellent! I'd definitely recommend it!

Surprisingly, I've always found it difficult to find decent sushi places in the South Bay. That changed when I discovered sushi chitose. It is a delicious, affordable omakase that truly reminds me of Japan. The omakase consists of several pieces of nigiri (I lost count because I was too busy eating) with a small dessert at the end of black sesame ice cream (Yum). . It costs approximately 75 dollars a person, which I think is reasonable given what you get. They have a good selection of saki which complements the meal well. This place is tiny with a few seats outside of the bar. It is also reservation only. The parking lot is small, but since the restaurant doesn't seat many people it was sufficient. The staff are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!

One of my favorite omakase's in LA, super good bang for your buck. One of the few (if not only) omakase's under $100. The nigiri here is simple and fresh, chef keeps it consistent with your classic fish cuts (toro, salmon, sea bream). Ambience is cozy and warm, and service is always amazing. Come here every now and then and enjoy it each time :)

I searched for a dinner spot to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and knew she was craving sushi the past month. Inside Sushi Chitose, we were greeted by a quiet atmosphere, with the sushi bar and a few tables welcoming us directly. Sushi Chitose's affordable omakase was truly worth it; impeccable service and incredibly fresh fish made the experience exceptional. I loved that they accommodated for my allergy against scallops, they served me tuna instead of scallops and I still really enjoyed it. Note that reservations are a must, but it's well worth the effort for a future visit (no walk ins).

Unassuming strip mall spot in the South Bay with delicious omakase. Came here for my sister's birthday and called ahead to make a reservation (no online reservation system). There's a small parking lot in the front. There's a few tables and bar seating - the restaurant is pretty cozy. Credit cards are accepted. You have the option to order a La carte, but the omakase is well done and you get a good variety. They also do ask you whether you have any allergies so they can accommodate. They do serve alcohol. The hot green tea was good and they do give free refills. My favorite pieces were the salmon and a roll with a fish from Japan (skipjack?). The salmon roe on rice was surprisingly delicious (I was a bit apprehensive at first). My family also really liked the fish with uni and the scallops. They give you a choice of miso soup with shrimp or a fried shrimp head for one of the pieces. At the end of the meal, they give you a small scoop of black sesame ice cream. There was only one waitress so things moved a bit slowly, but she did her best and was super nice.

Pop music was playing (think Anne-Marie's 2002), LED lighting, and large posters advertising specials and desserts. The vibe was very much what I anticipated (3/5), but the space was clean and well kept, which matters most (4/5 for cleanliness). We arrived around 7:30 PM; they close at 9 PM. What pleasantly surprised me was the food. Both the roll and poke bowl were very simple in creation, but simplicity was done well. Minimal ingredients meant the quality and execution had room to shine without needing to hide behind extras. My poke bowl with seaweed salad, greens, and brown rice was fresh and tasty. My boyfriend's Redondo roll, ango, spicy tuna, and cucumber--was especially well balanced; the mango was perfectly ripe, not mushy or sour. On that basis, the food earns a 4/5. Service wise, there were a few small mix ups: I was served a Kirin instead of the Kirin Light I ordered, our dishes were placed on the wrong sides of the table (swapped) and macaroons from a neighboring table were added to our check. None of these were major issues, but they did point to a lack of attentiveness. I'm feeling forgiving, so I didn't let it weigh too heavily on the rating. If you're looking for the best takeout sushi in the South Bay, Yanagi Kitchen is the spot. I've…read moretried a ton of places in the area, and nothing consistently hits the same level of freshness, quality, and value. The fish is always incredibly fresh, with clean flavors and generous cuts that don't feel skimpy like some other takeout spots. Their rolls are well-balanced (not overloaded with rice), and everything tastes like it was made with real care--even when you're just grabbing a quick order to go. What really sets Yanagi Kitchen apart is how reliable they are. Whether it's a simple sashimi combo or a full spread of rolls, the quality never dips. Unfortunately, everything tasted really bland even with soy sauce, maybe they don't season their sushi rice? For us, this is a one-and-done spot.
