Expensive. That's okay, if the service is good. But I had to wait a while to order, then the thing I hate most of all.... I had to wait forever to pay the bill. You know how some tables have a thing you can scan to pay your bill without waiting: There wasn't one on my table. I asked a waiter for that and he moved over one from the adjacent table, which I thought wouldn't work, and I was right. I scanned my bill and it was waiting for me to order, so actually, the wait staff is ignorant. So yea, I was mad I had to wait forever to pay my bill. The staff walked past me twiddling my thumbs and they could care less. I literally had to interrupt one of them and beg for my bill. I hate that soooo much! read more

This is my first time here and it was a great experience. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks were really good! I had three of the espresso martinis. The food was really good especially the ceasar salad. Even though I gave 5 stars, the bread to my bucatini wasn't that great. It was hard, but if the bread was thicker it might not have been hard. Food was tasty and well presented. Dining room was clean and trendy. Service attentive. Portions sizes are inconsitent. The Salmon was tiny (4oz ?) and almost no vegatables with it at a cost of almost $40. But the fried chicken was a huge bowl, double what a person could eat. At the end we were charged almost $400 for a table of 6. The 22% automatic tip and a fee for their crappy sundayapp payment system felt like a scam. Im not going back there unless they accept cash so I can pay for what I ordered plus a tip I decide. Forcing me to pay a 22% minimum tip pissed me off at the end of my meal. read more

It's new and still figuring out the area I suppose. The menu is rather limited. I've been twice during the lunch time, service was always good and prompt. 1st order was Nashville brisket. So, with a depth of knowledge on the BBQ circuit from competing and catering, I'd never heard of a Nashville style of brisket so I thought I'd give it a whirl. It was pastrami... 2nd time figured I'd try the pizza. Too thick, and doughy. Massive pieces of crust. Sauce is first rate. Told the bartender and showed him. No questions asked, took a beer off the tap to you. Overall it's a nice place and a good change of pace for Crystal City. But for the price and options, probably better options nearby, like freshman's. Also, add some small plates, shareable options or appetizers to the options. We went here for our anniversary and actually really enjoyed it. Place is situated between a bunch of offices, but I don't think this is a bite after work sort of place. It's a sit down long dinner kind of place. Started with cocktails and salad. Salad was very good. Fresh produce, good dressing, unique use of capers and fried angel hair. Lady got the Saigon sandwich and it was super flavorful, I got the veal Mac parm and it was a great mix of marinara sauce and a Mac n cheese like parm. They comped us dessert and bubbly for anniversary which was nice. The desert was a cheesecake with a tangerine topping and it was delicious. I think they lowered prices a bit because about everything was between $15 and $20. Whole bill was under $150. Prices online when we booked reservation were higher I'm pretty sure. Service was good. For a place with a fun menu and good cocktails it was 5 stars. Not going to win any Michelin stars, but I don't need a 7 course tasting menu and it was a good time. Menu had so many thing I wanted to try -- almost felt like it should be tapas which also might work better for that after work crowd. The menu was underwhelming and food is very over priced I ordered the Halloween Gnocchi - which was very tasty and quite good but for $30.00 I would have expected a full bowl of pasta not such a small portion of food. My husband ordered the white pizza and added chicken to it per the recommendation of our server. The pizza was quite good but when we got the bill and saw they charged $12.00!! Extra for the chicken..that is crazy! Most places charge $5-$8 Extra for chicken. 12 00 is highway robbery! And...get this..they charged $4.00 for ice!! Ice! This is water that is free! I was shocked! Our group shared a few desserts which were okay but not amazing. The decor was probably the best part..very pretty, Asian themed, cool lighting and lots of space. This place is definitely trying way too hard to be bougie. I get that it's Arlington and it is trying to be hip and cool but the menu could be better and the portions should be comparable to the prices. Based on the server's recommendation, I had the spicy beef Saigon pineapple on a baguette. It's like a Vietnamese banh mi. Service was attentive. But either under staff or a lack of experience but I found the bar service very slow and inefficient, especially when on Bartender just talks to one group and pays no attention to the other 75% of the Bar. No hand off among the bar staff. Was able to get a drink and menu thanks to a waiter from the dining room that happened by but that was it. Did not get service after that until I finally got eye contact and asked for my check. Never ordered food. Btw if you ask for a "big rock" in your drink. You get charged $4.00 extra. Lol. Not a big deal but the Bourbon is way over priced in the first place. The two stars area because it looks nice. read more

I can't say I'd ever return unless I went solely for desserts. Frankly, and unfortunately, the food quality needs significant attention. The ambiance is great, but I wouldn't counter-argue someone for preferring Chili's, which there's nothing wrong with, over this restaurant. The pizza came out extremely hard. My colleague's salmon looked like something I could cook at home, which she agreed; the french fries were soggy and embedded in a bed of sauce, and the poke rice felt old, with a texture of next-day, microwaved rice. The only aspect that saved the restaurant at its current state from a one-star review was the desserts. The pastry chef kills it. I've been twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, and both were disappointed, given the food quality of its sister restaurants. read more

Our first time here and it was amazing. From the decor to the great, yet different, vanity of mixed drinks. The bar tenders are top notch and we're very dedicated to the attention to detail with everything. The food service was very quick, very well presented, and seasoned perfectly. I'm a huge fan of the seven reasons restaurant group (specifically imperfecto ). I love the concept of surreal the inside is very posh and Instagram worthy, the service is very good and attentive. The drink menu is incredible as well. Everything I had was good. There are a few tweaks I would suggest. Our host sat us with drink menus only and we had to ask for dinner menus even tho it was right around dinner time (6 PM) and the menu was large like a placemat that took up a lot of table space so I think there's some room for improvement there. The food was all really good but the wings were underwhelming, very small and they were similar to what you could get at a typical wing spot (but these are all flats) . However the mac and cheese bites that came with them were unbelievable and so was the guac.. all in all I will definitely be back. read more

The service and atmosphere were excellent, but the food was not so good. My friend ordered a $52.00, 10-ounce NY strip, but by the time he cut off the fat, it was less than that. He said the steaks at Outback or Texas Roadhouse are far better tasting. I ordered the pork chop, and it was lacking any type of flavor. My other friend ordered the Branzino fish and indicated it tasted very 'fishy' and did not like it. The food was not good and did not meet expectations for the price. Also, draft beers come in a small water-type glass and only offer three or four sips. Again, it may be a good place for one of their pizzas or a cocktail, but not worth what the entrees offer. read more

The sauce was the best part, veal was tough breading was too think and loose. The Mac n cheese part had no flavor. It you're looking for a "bar" this place is awesome. I live close by, so I was really hoping this would be a great restaurant. I didn't have high expectations for the new staff or timing with the order, though that went great. Staff very attentive and friendly. The ambiance is nice. Very comfortable bar chairs. Regular dining seating is kind of weird with wonky tables. My first visit I tried the brisket sandwich which was average at best. Wasn't much meat on it and the broccoli on the sandwich wasn't my thing. The second visit I sat at the bar and had a Caesar salad and added chicken. There wasn't much lettuce, whatever kind of lettuce it was. And the chicken was really soft and barely warm. The salad was very salty too. L The third visit I went with something I figured had to be good, a margarita pizza. I asked for it to be extra crispy because I hate it when the center of the pizza is a soggy mess. The pizza was a soggy mess in the middle and was average at best. I wasn't sure what to expect when we came here - I've had mixed experiences with other restaurants by the same restaurant group. That said, I ended up being disappointed at Surreal. It is decorated beautifully. We came in on a Saturday night and many tables were available. We got mocktails and my friend got a cocktail. They were fine. One of my friends wanted her drink to be sweeter... and the waiter brought her sugar packets like the ones you put in coffee. I found that to be kind of weird because normally when she asks for her drinks to be sweeter, they will take her drink to the bar to be fixed with simple syrup. So that was really weird to me. Our waiter seemed really annoyed the whole time honestly. He was weirdly pushy about us ordering a salad to split... he swore it was great. It was not. It was literally pieces of lettuce with sprinkles of cheese and dressing on the bottom. We ordered the gnocchi, bucatini and margherita pizza. My friend enjoyed the gnocchi - it was nontraditional. The bucatini was forgettable with unseasoned chicken. The pizza was not what we expected and my friend sent it back because it was covered in grease and fat. For dessert we ordered the cheesecake and that was probably the best thing we had. I don't really know if any employee was in a good mood but it was late so. There's that.
