I rented your boards for 5 days & paddled out with the owner who is a splitting image of the operation staff. - friendly, knowledgeable, trusting, flexible, adds value. I also really appreciate the way you price your rentals. $25 for a quality surfboard when many other places are charging considerably more says a lot. You Molu guys clearly care about your customers, their experience, the ocean, Oahu, and the sport of surfing. And a special thank you for how you handled my little mishap! After 18 years of surfing and thousands of waves, I somehow managed to buckle my first surfboard. I caught my best wave of 2026 thought I had kicked out cleanly, and somehow the board came out of it buckled. I felt horrible like the time I was 16 years old & crashed my moms car. But you all treated me with grace and understanding. The staff couldn't have been nicer about it. Of course, I took responsibility and paid my fair share for the damage, but I really appreciated how professionally and reasonably you handled the situation. You represent Oahu and the surfing community incredibly well. You deserve a monopoly of Hawaii surf rentals. If you're reading this review and looking for a board--whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced surfer--this is an A+ operation. I dropped off my board with Gene, and he gave me a selling price that I agreed with, I signed up and registered with his system, where after selling the surfboard, he would electronically wire the money to me. Within one week, Gene was able to sell the board and wire me the proceeds. The service was excellent, and the process was easy. Most importantly, I was living in a small apartment and did not have the space to store 2 long boards. This way I drop off my board to Gene, and I didn't have to store my boards while trying to sell it myself. Highly recommend.

I'll always rent from these guys when I'm in Waikiki. I also took a couple lessons on my trip with John. Let me tell you... that guy knows waves like they're his ohana. He's patient, always gives good feedback and encouragement, and has a wealth of knowledge on all the different breaks and local history. I feel like I improved a bit with my form and learned a lot about reading waves. My wave count definitely went up a ton. Highly recommend having him analyze your surfriding and giving you things to work on!

I have stopped in here over the years, to check in on board rentals for visiting relatives, etc…read more They have a nice selection of just about everything you need, fins, wax, rash guards, bodyboards and fins, surboards and rentals, etc. With the covid-19 shut downs, it was difficult to find surf shops open, just to buy wax. Things are still shut down, but Koa board Sports will let you do in-store shopping. All you have to do is call the number, and within a few minutes they will open the shop for you. I needed to buy a new fin for my longboard, and they have an excellent assortment of used fins at reasonable prices. Picked up a used 10 inch fin for $40 and it was just what I needed for my 9' 9" longboard! They also have a good selection of newer fins from different manufacturers, but the used fin was exactly what I wanted, so no need buy new. I came by another time and picked up a leash, and another time they opened up so that I could look through their rash guards. So yes, a little humbug to have to call the number and wait a couple of minutes for them to come down and open the shop, but they are still making themselves available to their customers. Parking is easy, just park right in front of the shop. You won't find a better selection in the Waikiki area.

However, the only reason I am giving them four stars is because after visiting the one in Haleiwa, there's a huge difference in size, service and designs. Since this one is closer to the largest tourist area I really thought it would be bigger and have even more amazing designs, however it was so small and with the amount of people shopping at the store it was a little hard to shop around. I had already seen many of the items they had in store at the other location so I didn't spend too much time there. It's definitely worth checking out if you love Snoopy!

Three people walk right past me ... some grumpy woman who was building something on the wall... this other young boy looking at me like what are you doing in my store? While the whole time I'm trying to figure out the sizes and the straps for them make your own slippers. There was a bunch of sales people behind the register talking to who I found out was the regional manager. I was gonna talk to him about the service, but he looked grumpy as hell so I thought it wouldn't even make a difference if I talk to him. Finally the girl who rang me up got the right straps for my slippers put it all together and gave me the buy one get 1/2 off discount. But in all ... no aloha in that store. It could've been a mainland store. Sometimes I don't understand our local people who work in service oriented jobs ... No aloha. Mahalo, I will not be back.

We had a long agenda for the day and number one reason, cost factor. Fortunately the tab came out to $117 that's with one item being on sale. One young man approached when we entered.
