Since there's no DTF in Houston, I will always be on the look out for some good soup dumplings and bbq pork chop and fried rice. Located in the heart of Katy Asian Town, parking could get a little crazy, had to drive a round a little until a spot freed up. The two dishes we ordered were the main reasons I came: XLB and Pork chop fried rice. Both were great! A little on the pricy side, but the food was good and fresh. Service was ok that day, not sure why it was slower than expected- it wasn't overly busy. But the restaurant was clean. While it was good for Katy or Houston, it wasn't a direct replacement for DTF. read more

The inside is a cute shop size. They have a bar at the front with interesting drinks. They also have a see through window where you can watch them hand make the dumplings. I tried the signature dumplings which came with a variety of the 8 dumplings- 2 of each flavor truffle, chicken, shrimp and pork, spicy pork. I also tried the Wagyu dumplings. The Wagyu dumplings were my favorite the soup inside tasted hearty and not too salty just a nice broth. The other dumplings that were one of my favorites is the taro dumplings. It tasted like they used real taro and they were made fresh. They were soft and sweet. The thing that I didn't like much was the shu mai. I tried the shrimp and pork and that was meh. The meat was too thick and the shape of the shu mai was too big. It seemed like the meat was almost stuck together with the outer layer instead of actually being inside of it. The spicy cucumber was more of a Szechuan flavor to it and chili oil than a vinegary spicy cucumber. It tasted more oily than anything. I've heard this place is DTF dupe, so I had to go try. I love Din Tai Fung, so my expectations were high. I ordered some similar items, but it was a disappointment. The noodle dish I got was very salty, so I wouldn't recommend it. The fried rice was delicious even though it's just fried rice. Restaurant is small and seats are crammed together, so you don't have that much room. The service was okay! And I like they had wild mushroom fried rice, thats unique but could use some more flavor. I got my son the spicy dumplings to go and he only ate one because he didnt like the insides, and he's a dumpling-holic. Just all in all it was a one and done for me. A very specialized restaurant from the perspective of Bao and I found every one of them that I ordered simply wonderful inclusive of pork, chicken, crab, beef as well. I had some spicy cucumber and the next time I'm going to order it with steamed rice, which is also readily available. I do not know how close to authentic this Bao is however, regardless of its authenticity it has a wonderful flavor that is well worth experiencing. Aside from the wonderful food is the equally wonderful service which was efficient effective and fun. The waiter we had was absolutely perfect given that we did not have experience in this particular menu. In this particular case, he also seem to be seconding as the bartender and he did quite a marvelous job at that although frankly, I simply had a Nigiri sake, which was wonderful. It is a relatively small area, but the ambience is quite well appointed. I would say somewhat modern for 2026. Everything was clean well appointed and a pleasant atmosphere overall. I would encourage whoever is reading to make reservations, especially on a weekend night as the waiting list if for walk-ins is rather extensive. It's the closest I've found to Din Tai Fung, the dumpling wrappers are super thin and everything tasted fresh and delicious. I am a huge fan of dumplings and love to try new dumpling places. Saw Supreme Dumplings on my search and thought of giving it a try. I loved the interior's simplicity and wall accents. The menu was short and simple. I had the Supreme Pork Xiao Long Bao, Mini Pan-Fried Dumplings, Pork Chop Fried Rice, Supreme Tan Tan Noodles, and Sweet Taro Xiao Long Bao as my dessert. The skin of the pork xiao long bao was thin and the filling was of good proportion. However, the soup inside didn't have much depth to it. Thus the xiao long bao was just ok. The mini pan-fried dumplings were good and had some soup inside, so be careful when biting into one. The pork chop fried rice missed the mark for me. Firstly, it wasn't presented nicely. Secondly, the fried pork chop was fried in old oil, thus the taste of it wasn't good. The fried rice was decent, but too much chives. The Tan Tan noodles' soup was flavorful, but the ground pork was little to no existence. The taro xiao long bao was tiny, but each one of them was filled wholly. The filling wasn't too sweet, therefore it was enjoyable to finish the dish alone. Overall, the only dish I enjoyed thoroughly was the dessert- taro xiao long bao. As the restaurant is small, I would recommend getting a reservation to avoid long wait time or disappointment. Made reservations here for a Sunday evening. There was a wait and a line outside. So I recommend a reservation if you decide to come. The restaurant is small inside. There is a hostess stand and the bar, which was used to hold supplies and dirty plates at the time I arrived, which is not something you want to see. I got here 3 minutes before my reservation and was asked to wait because the hostess was deciding to wait for another party or sit me. The other party wasn't even here or checked in, so I don't know why I had to wait if I was on time. Order some soup dumplings, mini pan-fried dumplings, and pork wonton noodle soup. For the dumplings as a whole, they have a nice flavor in all of them. The pork wonton noodle soup needs some adjusting. There is no flavor in the soup; all the flavor is in the wonton, which only tastes like ginger for some reason. Also, all the food came out at room temperature or slightly on the colder side, which is weird. Other guests around said the same thing and made the restaurant redo some of their food. Their service was on the slow side too. Multiple people around me had to wave for the waiter/waitress, just like me. I heard that people have lined up for this place, so it was a nice surprise that we were able to be seated immediately with our large party (10). My side of the table did family style and ordered the tan tan noodles, Szechuan spicy XLB, the supreme pork XLB, mini pan fried dumplings, pork chop fried rice, the stir fried seasonal greens with garlic, and the famous charcoal gold lava custard bun w/gold flakes to share. The tan tan noodles were a great balance of nutty, savory and only subtly spicy. The noodles were chewy and the dish was tasty overall. (7/10) The Szechuan spicy XLB was the star of the meal for me. This was super unique and had the kick of spice that I really enjoyed. (9/10) The supreme pork XLB were also yummy. The broth was flavorful and exactly what I'd expect from a XLB. (7/10) The mini pan fried dumplings were juicy and had a perfect crispy bottom. (7.5/10) The pork chop fried rice was great as well. The pork chop was tender and the batter was well seasoned. I felt like this dish was a good portion compared to the others as well. (8/10) The stir-fried greens with garlic were standard, nothing speacial. I think next time I would get the green beans instead. (5/10) The charcoal gold lava custard bun w/gold flakes were good, but I think they were a bit over hyped for me. Anywho, I knew they would be a long wait so we came here hours ahead and had to wait about 45-50 minutes before being taken to our table. Luckily, as soon as you joined the waiting list, you will get a text when it's almost time so you can walk back instead of crowding the front of the restaurant or their bar area. Upon sitting down, it looks esthetically nice and attention to details so good job on the interior designer. With that said, lots of tables open - thinking it's because due to short staff. I honestly felt bad for my server. One of his customers hated her food, took only a few bite and left while at another table, he spilled drinks on the customers. Anyways, my server was having a bad night so we tried to be as nice as possible while making note in the back of our head of their closing time so their staffs can go home in a timely matter. Food... overall, not bad but not great. Part of it was because I wanted the majority of the food out at the same time. I should have asked for the lids to cover and keep some of them warm but I won't take stars off due to our part of wanting to wait. Szechuan Spicy Xiao Long Bao - my favorite of the bunch. If you like some spice and XO sauce, you may enjoy this. I like the kick. Shrimp & Pork Xiao Long Bao - good but overall okay. Read a lot about supreme dumplings ever since they opened in Katy Asia town. Finally got to give it a try for lunch today. Went in around 130-230 and it had a good consistent stream of customers. Really only saw 2, maybe 3 servers though. But despite this-service was fair to good. She we got our table, we had to ask the servers to clean our seats bc it still had food and crumbs from the previous customers. The inside decor was chic to modern. They have a good drink menu with 0.99 mimosas if come before noon. We had our baby with us and they were very accommodating for his stroller and making plenty of room for it. Food order: Szechuan spicy XLB: 5/5 easily the best dish! The Szechuan spice was prominent and overall spicy. Amazing flavor though and the pork was seasoned well. Black truffle and chicken XLB: 3/5, a bit underwhelming. The initial bite had a hint of truffle but then it was absent during the rest of the mouth fill. Chicken was a bit bland imo compared to the pork XLB. Stir fried string beans: 4/5, nothing amazing or special but good consistent dish. Crunchy string beans with mushrooms. Wild mushroom fried rice: 4/5, this was a unique dish! King oyster mushrooms with these little white round egg white pieces and green beans- had a nice umami flavor. Mini pan fried dumplings: 5/5. Great consistent dish as well. Good crisp and retained a good amount of juices and moisture inside-- careful it can pop out juices like an XLB. Overall good experience. Dined in on a Friday for lunch for a party of 3, the wait time was 15 minutes. Shoutout to our server, Lila, she is super friendly and attentive! If you like Din Tai Fung, this is very close to it! We ordered: -Crab and pork xiao long bao: broth was very tasty, the bao was thin and cooked perfectly -Spicy cucumber salad: cucumbers were cut a tad too thick but very good flavor -Pork chop fried rice: DELICIOUS! We tore it up. -Stir fry string beans: a tad bland, we didn't care for the carrots in it, wouldn't order again -Japanese green milk tea: good flavors and not too sweet -Tropical iced green tea: so refreshing! My friend and I came here for a quick luck during their grand opening. The staff were quick and nice. We ordered soup dumplings (mediocre), mini pain friend pork dumpling (really liked this), and braised beef noodle soup (soup was good but need work on the beef). Food was alright. Overall, it was decent. I expected the braised beef meat in the soup to have a stronger flavor. The soup dumplings did keep its form very well but it tasted kind of plain. The place was very nice and I really liked the decorations. They also have a pitcher of water for the table to share. There's free parking out front. read more

Nut allergy friendly - they label allergens! A dessert has nuts, as does the tan tan noodles. Reservation recommended! Another famous dumpling chain arrives in Houston! I knew this place looked familiar when I saw the menu - I wrote an extensive review for their Bellevue location last year! I was invited to join the soft opening for this location on the second evening. We were promptly seated. Parking is somewhat difficult in the plaza, but not impossible if you're willing to walk a bit. Time-to-Appetizers: 11 Minutes Time-to-Entrees: 13 Minutes Time-to-XLB: 14 Minutes I heard that they took a little longer on Day 1, but our service was very quick! The times are decently aligned with my past experience in Bellevue. One small surprise was being served our vegetables and entrees before our Xiao long bao (soup dumplings). I would prefer being able to start with the XLB as an appetizer. I tried some different things compared to the other location. Previous review highlighted the Hot & Spicy Soup and Crab XLB as being very good. General Bao Improvement: I'm not a fan of whatever paper they're using. It sticks too much to the bao and therefore leads to tearing when you try to pick it up. I think that could be improved. (-0.5 for the Baos) Szechuan Spicy Xiao Long Bao (4.5/5): Seriously no sauce needed here! It comes with a fantastic peppercorn kick and is extremely flavorful. One of the most unique XLB flavors I've had. Black Truffle & Chicken Xiao Long Bao (4/5): I don't think I'd order this again for the value, but it was also quite a unique flavor. Very pricey for what it is but the truffle comes through and they are tasty. Truffle Mushroom Roll (4.5/5): Biggest surprise of the night was a recommendation from the table next to us. The best way I can describe this is a weightier, fried spring roll. And I'm all about it. Dips well with the normal soy sauce-vinegar mix you'd have for an XLB too. Pork Wonton Noodle Soup (4/5, partner 5/5): I have to highlight that this was my partner's favorite dish. For me, the wontons were nice and light but a little bland, and the noodles stuck together a bit too much. But once you got it apart, the noodles actually took on a great seafood flavor. Ended up liking this more than expected. Taiwanese Cold Noodle (Spicy) (3.5/5): I didn't think this was anything crazy and needed more vegetables and meat, but I also didn't have the sesame sauce with it. Stir Fry String Beans (5/5): Still excellently crispy and very sharable. Must-get vegetable side if you like veggies. Chocolate Melt Xiao Long Bao (??/5): I admit we didn't order this but another table let us try one each. It comes with 6 but I don't think I could handle more than one. It's very sweet and explodes with chocolate in your mouth like a melted Lindt chocolate. Great experience, too intense to have more than one haha. Onyx Lava Custard Buns with Gold Flakes (4.5/5): Comes with a set of 3. Fantastic light and not too sweet dessert. Very picturesque too. Drinks: The lychee Green Tea actually had very nice lychee notes. It was a tad sweet for me, and the drink was served warm with ice instead of chilled. (3.5/5 Last but definitely not least, a shout-out to our fantastic and attentive server Lila for great service. Overall, most of the dishes we had were very good. It's a bit pricier but comes with some unique twists on Xiao long bao and many dishes are quite sharable. Service was friendly and attentive.
