They also stopped on the way at a furniture store and picked up additional furniture. Drove to my new location and unloaded everything in less than 2 hours. Travis is an absolute professional and strategic in placing items in the truck to maximize usage. Bruce is a joy and charming as charming can be. Quan is an absolute gentleman and wrapped everything meticulously. These guys are awesome. I could not have made this move without them.

The crew basically shrugged and said "sorry" as they did not have tools on hand to pull and fix a stripped screw, leaving me SOL. This may have been a two-star event as the rest of the move was great. However, there were lighting fixtures lining the sidewalk that they pulled and after the fact, I noticed some of the stakes were broken. These were left piled up and not re-inserted in ground. The crew was definitely in a hurry to leave.

I received estimates from Chapel Hill Moving Company for packing in two stages. The packers arrived on time and were polite and friendly. They were at my home for three hours. The final charge for the initial packing (including materials) was extremely high. When I spoke with Ethan, the owner of the company, he was condescending and rude to me. It became evident to me that while the company provides estimates, the actual charges at the end of the job are at or beyond the high end. Interestingly, there are other reviews that also mention the high cost of Chapel Hill Moving Company. I will be using a different company for the second packing stage and for moving, while hoping that the packing was done professionally and carefully. I recommend that others use a different packing and moving company that is reliable, professional, and (as importantly) cost-effective. Moving is too expensive to overpay when the company knows it can get away with it.

I was looking at several moving companies in the Triangle for a long-distance move across multiple state lines, and after speaking with Sapphira, I knew Raleigh Moving Company would be my choice. She was so professional and informative, and I was really impressed when she told me that the company employs their movers full-time, and that many of the movers have worked for the company for years. The company is easy to get ahold of when you have questions, and everyone there is communicative and helpful. Sapphira was so helpful in coordinating logistics and answering complicated questions, and was so gracious and flexible when I had to change my move date. We also did a virtual walk-through the day before my move, so that she could be sure the team was fully ready for everything the following day. My movers were Travis and Wilson. Wow -- what a team!!! They moved our household contents as well as two home offices and a storage unit containing 50+ years of career detritus! My experience with…read moreAthens Moving Experts was incredibly frustrating due to deceptive billing practices, careless handling of property, and an absolute lack of professionalism. First, be aware of how they manipulate hourly billing to pad the clock. I was charged a flat $150 travel fee, but they also use the hourly labor rate ($180/hr) to double-charge you for extended time on the road. The crew took over 2 hours just to load the truck at a storage facility fully equipped with flat rolling carts and a massive freight elevator. Yet, they miraculously managed to unload the entire truck into my new apartment in just 43 minutes, despite having NO elevator and forcing them to haul everything up a flight of stairs. The math doesn't lie: they deliberately dragged their feet at the start of the day to run up the bill. My girlfriend also noted that the movers consistently disappeared and took unauthorized breaks throughout the process. On top of that, the drive between locations took nearly an hour for a straightforward, 30-minute route. When they finally got to my apartment, I watched them stand around the truck rather than actively working, all while the hourly clock was running on my dime. Management completely dismissed this massive discrepancy and refused a partial refund. Second, the crew's behavior was completely unprofessional. They were actively vaping while handling my belongings. Worse, they left their trash, a Gatorade bottle, littered right on the walkway outside my apartment door. According to the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) Moving 101 Guide, crews are explicitly required to remove debris and packing materials on delivery day, clearly, this crew doesn't care about state regulations or basic cleanliness.  Finally, their handling of my items was careless. Multiple heavy-duty boxes arrived completely caved-in and crushed because they stacked items improperly on the truck. When confronted, management tried to blame me by claiming my boxes were "already showing signs of wear" before the move to avoid liability, which is entirely false. If you want a company that respects your time, treats your belongings with care, cleans up after themselves, and doesn't overcharge you, do not hire Athens Moving Experts.
