This was a disgrace! First and foremost they gave me the wrong cupcake because they ran out of the one I wanted. Secondly, the cupcakes were extremely dry. When faced with another year of getting my daughter a birthday cake that looked a lot better than it tasted, I asked the interwebz to find me a custom cake maker near Verona. Welcome, Supreme Bakery and thank you. We used an online cake maker to choose everything - the size, the type of frosting (whipped cream - excellent, so much better than buttercream), the type of cake (red velvet - spongy and packed with flavor) and the innards (fresh banana and strawberries - so perfect, pieces of strawberry throughout). We then added the text and clicked a few other things, paid, and our cake was ordered with a requested pickup time and date. It could not have been easier. They also have custom kids cakes and for $10 they will scan any picture onto edible paper to cover the cake. I called the day before to check on it and confirmed that it would be ready. The cake was amazing. It was actually too good for most of the kids as most kids are used to supermarket cakes with buttercream and garbage, but that just meant more for the adults (*pauses review to go get leftovers). It was about $40 and probably could have fed at least 12 people at a minimum. The store is centrally located right on Main St. in West Orange and is very nice inside - clean, orderly and full of sugary goodness everywhere. Tons of cupcakes, cakes, breads and muffins to stuff your morning face with. I didn't get anything else because I was picking up a cake, but next time it seemed there were some blue velvet and coconut cupcakes with my name written all over them! read more

Clean and bright, a comfortable bakery to sit down having coffee and spend your morning. Came in with a living social deal. The girl who helped me was very nice and patient. Busy in the morning, and there were many people behind me in line. I had the $15 for $30 deal, which turned out to be a big and time consuming order but they did not rush me. I told them I wanted a dozen miniature fancy pastries mixed and placed nicely in a good looking box so I could bring them to a friend's house for a lunch party. I saw the girl very patiently selected the pastries and carefully placed them into the box without rush despite the long line behind me. Very good customer services and they were all friendly. Although located on Main Street, there is a huge parking lot behind the bakery store and better yet, it's 25 cents per hour meter parking!!! I still prefer asian bakeries, cause I don't like sweets. First, this bakery is local. Second, the quality of the baked goods is fresh and very good. And they have cakes like a Brown Darby that are hard to find. (You have to order in advance but that's no hardship.) And the bakery is kosher, which may be important to you. The service gets there eventually but it is a bit confused. When I went to pick the cupcakes up... -_- The fondant flowers were falling off the cupcakes. The base and fondant were 2 different shades of blue (royal vs navy blue) although I only asked for Navy. The royal blue really threw the look off. - I requested pearl balls- necklace etc.. they put oversized balls - that looked like gum balls on the cupcake. Didn't match the image I initially sent to them. Now - I asked for it to be fixed- a young girl in the front took it to the decorator in the back- all she did was put the flowers back on the cupcake. She brought it out and I explained this was completely unacceptable. And they explained I would get a call from the manager. The decorator didn't even come out to address this hot mess. Got a Groupon so figured I'd pick up a few items. Customer service here is horrendous. They don't list prices or tell you what the cakes are. The first woman I asked couldn't tel me how much the cakes were or what they were so she had to try to ask someone else. It took 45 minutes to get someone to help and pick up cakes and cupcakes. When I finally did get someone to help she put the wrong cake in the box was rude when I corrected her and overall rude through the whole transaction. My girlfriend ordered a cake for a baby shower with explicit instructions to have the fondant blankets in Dallas Cowboy blue and Philadelphia Eagles green. She left sample swatches, (the team banners) as a color reference. Today, a week later , she went to pick up the cake and not only the banners were wrong, the piping on the cake looks like it was done by an amateur! This used to be my favorite bagel spot. But a few days ago I went in there with my son who was running circles ( which I don't approve of.) I believe there is a time and place for everything. So I was trying to get him to stop, trying to get him to wait to play, ( he is 5, so I had to say it multiple times). I go up to the register and say I'm sorry ( as in about him running around the bakery) and Marie one of the girls behind the counter was like " He is a kid you should let him be. It is completely beyond my comprehension how they've managed to get 5 stars from anyone. My brother commissioned a cake from them for our father's 60th birthday party. He asked if they can make a cake in the shape of a beer bottle with a picture of a Budweiser label. They assured him they could do this. Come the day of the party, when my brother goes to pick up the cake they did not make a cake in the shape of a bottle. They made a regular sheet cake with a Budweiser label painted on it, then took the Bud bottle that my brother gave them to model from and stuck it in the cake. They stuck the beer bottle in damn cake!! Who does that??? i'd expect such ghetto mentality from a bakery in Newark, that's why we went to West Orange. It's 10 years later. I'm planning a surprise 70th birthday/Retirement party for my dad. I spent 3 hours designing a picture to be painted on my dad's cake, now I only need find a bakery that can do pictures on the cake. In comes Supreme. They accept the job and assure me they can do the picture. $80 for half a sheet, plus another $`0 for the photo. I'm thinking the $10 is not bad although 80 for the cake itself seems a little steep. Maybe at that price their cake rivals that of Whole Foods or Magnolias. But I go with it. I make the arrangement and tell me brother to cake is ordered. When I tell him where I ordered from, he tells me it's the same place that screwed the pooch on the Budweiser bottle cake 10 years before. (I didn't know because he ordered the cake before.) Well I assure him it's just a picture and not special shapes so they shouldn't be able to screw this up.... silly me. The picture came out completely discolored with a weird pinkish hue. They didn't bother trying to fix it or offer a discount or anything. When I went to pick up the cake it was all business as usually, except for the fact that they couldn't find my order for about 5 minutes, but that's the lowest issue here. They completely effed up my cake that I spent hours designing and they didn't care in the slightest. And the taste.... We' you get past the age of 21-25 you learn the difference between good bakery sweets and cheep little Debbie cakes(sugar & sh!t). At the age of 34 I generally try to avoid the 'sugar&shit' and save room for real desserts. This cake tasted like sugar & sh!t. I would have better served my family with a smaller, less expensive, BETTER tasting cake from Whole foods or probably anywhere else. Never Again. Oh memories. Supreme indeed! For as long as my family has lived in that area, this was our go to place for birthday cakes, graduation cakes, just-because cakes, and other bakery treats, and they never failed. Moist cake, great tasting fillings, and the frosting... perfection! I'm not sure if they do buttercream frosting because we always got whipped frosting. I remember fighting over cakes with my brother after birthday parties were done. I'd actually get angry at him for finishing my birthday cake, and vice versa. My mom and aunt used to hide the leftovers because if they didn't, it would be all gone! Sad story: my uncle placed an order for a graduation cake for me last year, and we never picked it up. I still have the order slip, and whenever I go back home and drive past the bakery, I wonder if they would let me pick it up. I mean he did pay for it.
