* Mediocre Thai * Popped in for a quick bite on the way down to Seattle. At the exit I hopped off in Bellingham there were not a lot of options other than the usual fast food suspects. I spotted this Thai spot next to a Subway and grabbed lunch. I heard Thai being spoken in the kitchen - a good sign! But it ended there..... I had the pad see ew. It was served with a complimentary cup of soup (which was not very Thai in its flavours - it was more like an Eastern European cabbage soup). There was a slight hint of Thai flavours with a dash of fish sauce. But it was nothing I would need to repeat. The pad see ew itself had a decent char on the noodles, but they were overcooked and falling apart a bit. The beef was the toughest beef I remember having in the past few years! Shoe leather would be considered soft and subtle compared to this beef. It was not edible. The other unique aspect of the meal, was that it was the first time I've been served rice with pad see ew. It was certainly carb overload! Next time I'm passing through Bellingham, I'm going to get off at a different exit! read more

Every dish is absolutely bursting with flavor- basil fried rice, tom kah and specialty curries are to die for. Seasonal and rotating dishes are a culinary delight. Some hidden unique choices will expand your Thai pallet. Didn't love the pace of the restaurant- very slow. Possibly understaffed? Waitress was kind, but made some mistakes on our order. Window seat was COLD, so make sure you have either a warmer area or bring a coat. There is table seating and floor seating available. About $1.50-$3.00 more expensive per dish for comparable Thai restaurants in the area, which can seriously add up. Overall, solid 4 because of the taste but definitely not more due to the length of time, small mistakes and cost hike. read more

Most people who've given lower reviews here typically note issues with service/wait times, etc., which are all pretty valid. I always go into Supon's knowing the service will likely be slow. It is a VERY small, family-owned operation, the food is made to order, and often times the waitstaff are extremely shorthanded and overwhelmed. Good service is an integral part of a successful business and positive customer experience, so I understand why people may be upset, but 90% of the time here, it's not because the servers don't care or anyone is slacking off. The food here is amazing. End of story. It is 100% authentic. For those that don't know, Pad Thai: Thai Style is made with a fish sauce base and regular Pad Thai is made with a tomato base, making it slightly sweeter than Thai Style. Both are delicious! The green curry is another one of my favorites here. Honestly, probably the best I've ever had. Spice level is also pretty mild, so go a star or two up if you're on the edge and/or request a spice rack. Bottom line, if you can deal with/accept slower service, this place is a diamond in the rough and totally worth your time. read more

The Kee Moa with pork was incredibly flavorful and perfect texture on the noodles. The Panang Curry was also delicious and kept calling me back. My partner and I decided to try it out since our favorite place, Poor Siamese, seems to have closed down. We love Thai but we're not necessarily picky. We didn't try anything new, just our "usuals" at any other Thai restaurant. First, it took us 20 minutes to receive our Thai coffees. There was very little coffee and 75% condensed milk. I love sweet things but it was inedible, unfortunately. Another 30 minutes went by and we finally received our food. I ordered Tom Yum Gai soup and my partner ordered Vegetarian Rama, both at 3 stars. It was clear, immediately that this was not going to be good. My soup was flavorless, spicy water that was full of chunks of galangal (I'm talking about 10 pieces, more than there was chicken). I hate wasting food so I picked out the mushrooms, which were raw. I hoped to share my partner's Vegetarian Rama but it tasted like watery peanut butter on spaghetti noodles with two pieces of broccoli. Most important, though, we've both had to cancel our plans and have been home sick all night with migraines and diarrhea (sorry for the info, but it's clear something we ate was BAD). I don't recommend this place at all and the only reason I paid for the meal was because the poor waitress was tackling the whole restaurant by herself and I knew it wasn't her fault and she didn't deserve to hear my complaints. read more

Called in a to-go order and was quoted a 35-45 minute wait. Arrived to pick it up and had to wait an additional 30 minutes. There is only 1 poor server in that entire place and only 2 people cooking for everyone. Created a really frustrating and 'hangry' experience. Will not return because of it. Pad Thai was tasty, got the traditional version and it has lots of good veggies. The Penang curry was just ok. Strange texture. The fresh spring rolls are HUGE, but not that tasty. So, the atmosphere is really unappealing (drafty, peeling wallpaper - think what you'd expect at a dive diner). When our appetizer of fresh spring rolls was taking more than 20 minutes, we asked our server if we could expect them ahead of our entrees, she awkwardly (but politely) replied, "they really don't do that-they cook by the order, so it will probably come out with your food." hmmm... Sort of defeats the purpose of ordering an appetizer to me, and would've liked to know this when I ordered, but I digress... Also, all of their curries and their 'vegetarian' pad thai are made with fish sauce, which was disappointing to my strict vegetarian husband. That being said, the food was surprisingly good, and worth the wait. The raw tofu spring rolls were fresh, crunchy and stuffed with savory herbs served with a sweetly spicy plum sauce. I ordered the Thai garden special with broccoli, bok choy and giant prawns, which was excellent with plenty of well-seasoned shrimp. My husband's dish was also great - a veg stir-fry topped with a crazily rich and yummy peanut sauce. For those who like it spicy, take your spice up a notch than you normally would -- both of us could've handled more than our usual request. NOTE: the Dupont location doesn't serve alcohol, but the Samish one does ... I like a glass of wine while waiting for my spring rolls... Perhaps the decor is a little nicer there, too? All in all, the food is a solid four stars. Next time, we'll do takeout instead so the atmosphere / wait is a non-issue! Try this Thai! read more

Don't get me wrong the food is good and fresh....but... We called ahead for reservations, more to give them a heads up they would have 12 people at one table at one time. It took us 2 hours to get our food.....and they kept serving smaller tables that came in an hour after us. The waitress' were great.....but they def should post that they can't handle large groups.....we should have left. Then when the food did come, it came one at a time so by the time my son got his meal, everyone else was done eating. I guess I will stick to take out from this place...if I ever go back. read more

We have since returned for dinner. The waitstaff service has improved greatly. The dishes were prepared superbly. We were even served two extra dishes (no charge) as it was our son's birthday. My only small complaint was that the dishes were a bit salty due likely to the base of the sauces which in Thai cooking is often fish sauce. Don't go to this place in a hurry for dinner. Although our wait time was reasonable with appetizers and salads preempting our entrees, the cooking staff is small and everything is freshly prepared to your liking. Lunch time can be busy here, but dinner was just right. read more

Meh. Ordered food to go and was told 40 minutes wait. That's not horrible since it is a Saturday night. Got there at 40 min though and they took my money right away and then I waited another 30 minutes for everything to be ready. No compensation no sorry. Good Thai food. Spring rolls were nice and crispy with a yummy veggie filling. Pad see ew was not overly greasy like some Thai restaurants, flavor was very wonderful! Tom Kha was nice and spicy. It comes in a huge bowl, enough for left overs. I wish there was more meat in my portion though. read more

Came here to celebrate my sister's birthday. Ordered the pad kee mao and tried some of my wife's curry. The curry was good, but the kee map was drenched in soy sauce and that might have ruined it for me. I couldn't really taste much more than the soy sauce and the rice for the curry was not included. Pro: -Food was very delicious Con: -Took at least an hour to get our food because there apparently were a lot of take-out orders that they had to cook before ours. -They didn't remember to bring out our whole order. We had to remind them of the rice that I ordered and even then, they said they had run out of brown rice so I got white. Not a terribly big deal but I have a hard time believing that they weren't able to set aside a small bowl of brown rice anytime in that hour we were waiting. -About 2 hours after eating there, I experienced quite unpleasant food poisoning type symptoms. Honestly this place gave me hella bad gas. We couldn't finish all our food and opted not to take it home cause it was that bad. Shoulda listened to the other bad reviews saying it was greasy (cause it was VERY oily). Also I got the phad Thai: thai style and there is no difference to regular phad Thai... But normal phad Thai doesn't taste oily af. The fresh spring rolls were bland too and came with a terrible sauce. Waitress was pretty awful also. She wasn't very attentive and seemed uninterested. I was even high for this meal so I thought, "hm any Thai will be good cause I'm high." Not the case here sadly... Sigh, I need some bagel bites. Won't be returning or recommending. read more

The food was outstanding! I hadn't been here in years and was told they are under new ownership with the main chef being the original owner of Wanida Thai in Bellingham. I had a lunch special of Curry with chicken and it came with a nice portion of pad Thai and brown rice. I also ordered some crispy spring rolls which are by far the best in town. The food was very tasty! The restaurant is nicely decorated, spacious and clean too as an eat in option although my order was take out. The server was very friendly, and overall it was a great experience. If you haven't been there in awhile or are looking to try a new Thai restaurant with delicious food check them out! A little closer to gourmet in terms of authenticity and price. Beware they stick you $4 for white rice, $4 for a coke, etc..etc..etc...they might even charge you for soy sauce? Though rare for me to give 4 stars when being over-priced, the food does warrant it. Just know, it's not going to be reasonable in price, but will exceed your expectations! The Pad Thai done 'traditional' is one of the true pleasures in life. The peanut sauce is divine , or at least it should be for the price. The atmosphere is nice, small, ornate, and cute. It's Thai food that doesn't taste like anywhere else. For example, Asian 1 and On Rice are both excellent, but have very similar tasting food, Supon's goes further in terms of just how good the food is. I believe because of the quality of the food, that the high markup on side items has to be to make up rising import costs, and I can't imagine the rent for the location is affordable in any possible way. Taking this into account with the quality of the food, I justify the 4 star rating despite side item cash grabbing. It will blow your mind how good that traditional Pad Thai really is! read more

Good service but unimpressed with the food. We should have known by the lack of cars in the parking lot. No one was in the place and it was dinner time. My husband attempted to order a beer. Each time he placed his order, they "were out". Basically, they didn't have most of the beer listed on the menu or half the wine. The soup we ordered had four shrimp, broth, and nothing else. It was $10.99. For so few people in the restaurant, it took an extraordinarily long time to get our food. My husband spoke with the owner, she seemed unfazed by the fact that she seemed to be out of everything. I sincerely believe this business will fold sooner than later. read more

As a half-Thai girl, I would say Supon's is the most authentic and worthwhile Thai food in the 'ham. Forget Busara, Pad Thai on Meridian, House of Orient, Lemon Grass and all that watered down stuff and go for the gold. You know it's real Thai when the people actually speak Thai, your table has a big spoon and a fork for eating, you can ask for a condiment rack with true Thai sauces, there is a picture of the Thai king and queen, and an altar to Buddha and/or the spirit of the house. Obviously my standards are high. But you will not be disappointed at Supon's. Delicious noodles and stir fry dishes. Plus if you order take out, I swear they give you twice as much. read more
