This is the best Thai food in town. I've eaten at all of them and this is the one I always come back to. As with many "secret" awesome places to eat, this place does not look like the Hilton. Today at lunch a friend and I ordered 2 orders of a seafood appetizer. I'd had it in the past and liked it, today after we each took a bite, we agreed we couldn't eat it, related to the crab was sour and old tasting. We did something I'd personally never done before, we informed the waitress the crab tasted old and asked her if they'd take it back. The very nice waitress took it back and when she returned she asked "Can you still pay for those? my boss, the owner said she made them just a week ago" I expressed my concern with a seafood item made a week ago and said if her boss wanted to talk about that to please have her come to our table. The waitress returned again and said "My boss wants you to pay for half, she said she made them 2 days ago" At this point I'm feeling really bad for the waitress, and I thought to myself half the price is 7 dollars, I could just pay that, but by then we'd received our other food, it was cold under cooked, mushy and the beef was turning rancid. We said nothing about the condition of the rest of the food and planned to pay and leave, but now we were being avoided and had to ask for our bill. The owners husband did come out and stare at us from the kitchen. When we asked the waitress for our bill, she informed us the owner still wanted us to pay for the appetizer and we'd need to the kitchen if we wouldn't pay for them. We could hear the "owner" in the back yelling at someone. The waitress went to bring the owner out. The owner aggressively approached us and said "you can't walk into a restaurant, order something and decide you don't like and send it back" We attempted to explain that wasn't the situation, but that the crab tasted bad (We said nothing to her about the quality of the other two dishes) In the course of back and forth, she told us she didn't care if we were unhappy or, if we never came back again. And that we were horrible customers. It's was sad to have such an unpleasant interaction with a local business owner, who I'd supported and recommended in the past. That $7 dollars must of meant a lot to her. We paid our bill in full, including the appetizers, and left the waitress a large well-earned tip.We'll never go back. I hear the Thai food Restaurant on Dupont Street is excellent. We'll take our future business there. read more

The only reason this place got 2 stars was because the food, when it finally arrived after almost an hour, was decent. Don't go hungry, because I was starving when we finally had dinner. The wait staff was literally hiding in the back room from the customers. Some got up & stormed back there to cancel their order, and more than one shouting match ensued. Nin cooks me a nice late-in-the-week dinner about twice a month. When I'm tired and cranky from work, her food puts a smile on my face when I walk in the door and dish it up. I always call ahead for takeout; I'm always told it'll be 15-25 minutes. I've never had to wait unreasonably. I've got to wonder if some of the reviewers on here are just accustomed to fast-food-speed food. This is real, made from scratch with care and attention food. Things that we love: the pad kee mao with tofu, the thai style pad thai, and the green papaya salad. I've had other great stuff here, but we come back to those. Awesome comfort food, you know? And the kee mao gets enough time in the wok. I have tried every other Thai place in town, once in a blue moon, and I'm never tempted to take my regular business elsewhere. read more

Entering the parking lot, I was skeptical about scoring a vip parking spot for the lot was near full! A long time ago supons used to be lemongrass. That was when things were better. Now they have rude service and the wait staff is ridiculous. I had a big hair in my food and they didn't care. I asked them to have no green peppers and extra tomatoes and there was no tomatoes so when I asked the server that they made a mistake she argued with me that it was tomatoes and not green bell peppers. Apparently I don't know my colors or my vegetables. It's sad because I use to love going here and now I don't. They have increased there prices now and it's sucks. read more

Came here for lunch for the first time. After reading some reviews I was a bit hesitant but figured I would judge for myself. Ordered the lunch special thai style pad thai, it was pretty good, however the noodles were overcooked. It wasn't the red ketchup based sauce that's too overly sweet. It was more acidic with hints of garlic, fish sauce, and chunks of tofu. If was freshly stir fried with bean sprouts, green onions, lots of chicken, and peanuts. It came with a green salad with a sweet and sour peanut dressing. I had heard the lunch prices were expensive but the portions are much larger than what I'm used to, at least double the size of other thai restaurant lunch portions. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and was conveniently empty when I arrived (New Years resolutions getting an early start?). Overall I would come back again, I would like to try the regular pad thai for comparison purposes. read more

Supons is the best Thai in Bellingham, anyone that disagrees has probably never had authentic Thai food. Nin, the petite woman that runs the restaurant, is a brilliant chef and a wonderful person. No reason to ever eat at any other Thai joint in Bellingham. Their Kee Mao and Tom Kha Gai are two of my favorites. Many great memories with family and friends here for over 10 years. The first time I ate at Supons was when I was in middle school, and that was the DuPont location. The newer location is the Samish Way one and it's fabulous. The restaurant that replaced the old Supons, called Poor Siamese Cafe, is horrendous. Don't bother. Go to the real Supons on Samish!!!! read more

The food is absolutely fantastic.... However the kitchen staff clearly doesn't know how to run a restaurant. You can order your food to go or dine in. Whatever choice u make you will be waiting a very long time for your food. Two hour wait time if you order an appetizer and two meals dine. We got fed up with waiting for our food dine in, but supon serves the best Thai food in town.... So we decided to order to-go. We were given a 20 wait time, but knowing supon we showed up after 35 minutes. What do you know they still were done. We waited in the dining room for almost 30 more minutes. Ridiculous, I could maybe understand of they had a lot of customers but two small tables. Really?!? I'm surprised they are still in business. AVOID AT ALL COST! Seriously, go to Poor Siamese Cafe or On Rice before here. Timely service, cheaper, AND better Thai... We have only gone to Supon's because we mistake it for Poor Siamese on Dupont St. Each time we end up waiting longer than normal and the Thai is mediocre. The two cooks have one pace which is one dish at a time. Should you choose to disregard this review, at least know that if you walk in and there are lots of people, it is best to walk right back out as it'll be a long time before they get to your plate. Point made by the following experience my dad and I had last night: 6:35 pm - called Supon's (thinking it was Dupont's Poor Siamese) and ordered pad Thai, fresh rolls and red curry. They said it would be 20 minutes. 6:50 pm - we arrive at Poor Siamese and realize we are at the wrong location. 7:05 pm - we arrive at Supon's and wait in the front for a good five minutes for the waitress to take orders for a table of 8. 7:10 pm - the waitress gets to us and says, "it'll be just a little bit, shall you take a seat while I run your card and return with water?" We agree. 7:23 pm - while enjoying the vigorous conversation with my father I glance at my phone, see the time, and start getting slightly impatient as there is only one water on the table and still no food (now 20 minutes late). This is when I decide to glance around. Out of five tables, one table has food. All other tables have seen the waitress apologize and bring their drinks. This is also when we subsequently receive the same apology when asking for our credit card back which we gave twenty minutes prior. 7:30 pm - waitress informs us the food should be ready soon. Happens one more time. 7:50 pm - my father gets up to look in the kitchen to see if anything is in boxes and partially ready to go. Upon seeing no boxes and only THREE PLATES ready and being decorated, he declares the atrocity and demands his money back to the waitress who has taken note of his investigating. She then walks over to the cook and explains that he wants a refund. The cook looks at the order and says, "no, I have not started. Give refund," and promptly goes back to the stove without even an apology or glance at us. 7:55 pm - we leave with a 'refund' wondering if it'll actually pan out and the waitress is crying and acting like we're horrible people. It may have been slightly unintelligible to have waited so long, however when a waitress reassures you it's coming, you'd like to think the best. SO. Long story short. Cooks are slow, don't give a rat's a**, and the servers are not to be trusted with your time. Pissed off customer...out. Never to return. read more

Upon entering this resturaunt I was already a little skeptical. I had read other yelp reviews and had always notice their parking lot is always suprisingly scarce. Anyways, my suspicions about this place were pretty spot on. I ordered chicken satay as an appetizer and it was really gross. It was hard on the outisde, not warm and weirdly chewy on the outside. I had to order rice as a side order to accompany my curry because it was past the time that the serve rice for free and that rubbed me the wrong way. The yellow curry was actually very good but that's a staple for Thai resturaunts. The wait times were reasonable, the service good but overall I do not think I would come again. The best Thai food in town! I have had a good amount of the menu and everything tastes authentic and delicious. Minus one star because it is so slow. If only the service was a little better this place would be perfect. Maybe they need to hire more servers because every time I have been here it takes FOREVER for the food to come out and there is usually only one server trying to accommodate several groups. The service is not bad but it is kind of ridiculous to wait an hour for two plates. You also have to pay extra for rice, which I think is also pretty ridiculous. Fantastic food though. read more

"I LOVED LEMONGRASS! WHERE DID IT GO! Once in a while I treat myself to Thai takeout. I always go to Lemongrass because it is awesome. I was disappointed when i called and found it is now supon's. But i ordered my green curry anyway. They asked if i wanted rice, i said yes (duh! its curry). Well they did not tell me a total and i was shocked when my usual $9 meal was $16!!!!! This used to be my favorite Thai in Bellingham. It was not terribly expensive, had supercharged flavors, and was just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately they have always been and still are often quite slow. The kitchen gets backed up even when there are only a couple tables seated, and it can easily lead to 1 to 1.5 hour long meals. Most of which you spend staring hungrily at the kitchen. Food is usually still on better end of the spectrum, but it has proven to be hit and miss at the new location. read more

I've been here on 2 separate occasions and both of experiences were horrible. The first time was with my boyfriend. It was a seat yourself type of situation, late at night, hardly anyone in the place. We said hi to one of the waitresses, who acknowledged our presence initially, but then it took 30 minutes for anyone to come up to us and take our order. We ended up leaving without ordering anything. I feel like they don't have enough staffing here. The other occasion was with my mom, about a year after my first experience at Supons with my bf. So, my mom any I ordered some food, and my mom and I both ended up disliking what we ordered. My mom ordered something mild, but it ended up being extremely spicy, and I ordered something that tasted like it was drenched in sodium. Neither of us could eat what we ordered, so we asked for our meal to be replaced. After all, to both of us, our meals were inedible. The waitress said to us that if we wanted another meal, we would have to pay for it on top of the expense for our inedible food. Screw you Supons. read more

As others have said, the decor is very shabby. The room is very small. There is what appears to be water damage all around, and an overall dirty feel to the place. When I arrived, a waitresses was swearing at the customers and one family left very upset. That same waitress was a train wreck the whole time I was there, swearing and complaining about her job and treating the dishes roughly. It was a very distressing experience. Our primary waiter had only worked there for three days, he explained, so I won't mention his performance except that he was very friendly. Their credit card machine was broken and they only accepted cash, making it very inconvenient to go get cash (thanks for the $3 ATM charge Bank of America) and come back to that place. The food itself was fairly tasty. I had the pad thai zero star without nuts. I just wish it was served to me at a different restaurant entirely. This was another reminder that there is much more to a worthwhile dining experience than just the food. *** TIPS: Bring cash and order your food to go. read more

Favorite Thai in town. The staff is friendly, the menu is small, and the food is authentic. The Thai Style Phad Thai is rich and flavorful. All the dishes I have tried are aromatic, and boasting with freshest ingredients. I have yet to be disappointed. Supons is a great discovery. read more

I'm giving it two stars instead of one only because I really used to love this place, but lately I have not only experienced terrible customer service, but uncooked meat as well. The last time I went to Soupon's, my to-go order was wrong and when I called the employee told me that I must have misspoken and no I could not get what I had wanted because they were "too busy". I can't believe how rudely I was handled! Today I ordered the fried spring rolls and while the outside was a little overdone, the meat inside was not at all fully cooked. It tasted awful! Never mind the health risks. The red curry and the Thai iced tea were delicious and, like I said, I really used to love this place. But these two incidents were just too much. This would be the worst Thai restaurant in out town of plenty of other options for Thai food. The food is bad at worst. When you get Thai takeout you need to know your kids will eat it. It was so bad mine wouldn't. Burnt spring rolls, watery, greasy Kee Mao, tasteless Phad Thai, bad service all make this a bad choice. We live within biking distance of this place but will now drive to someplace with flavorful reliable food. Also the spicey rating is inconsistent at best. Also bad for kids. I have been coming to this location for a Thai fix for probably fourteen years. It was Lemon Grass at one time, which was always good as well. None the less, Supon has been a regular on the list of standard places to enjoy. A long time friend that moved away nine months ago was back yesterday. He mentions Supon often in our phone conversations and cannot find "decent Thai" in the Boston area. He has always loved the place and could not wait to return. Though there are many other restaurants (not Thai cuisine in particular) in town that I enjoy more, I'm always happy to go to lunch with my friend at Supon. Seeing others comment about wait times is news to me, but I go for lunch exclusively. That said, this last visit was a little different. They used to bring out soup almost as soon as you ordered. It was always interesting and sometimes outright fantastic. Now with lunch you get a very small salad first, (used to come with the main course) and "no soup for you". That reduced my rating from what would have been a little better. The Kee Mao is my favorite and standard. In fact I cannot speak for the other dishes since it has been some time since I have ordered anything else. I order 2 stars but probably could easily go three. I make up the extra spice by asking for the spice tray and piling on the extras like sweet chili sauce. In this regard, Supon has my vote for the best Pad Kee Mao in town. My friend would place that rating as "between here and Boston". read more
