In fact, the table I ordered from them was cheaper than it was online. I have ordered a coffee table and side tables from them in the past. For the Burlington area, this is probably the most "modern" of the furniture companies (thus the name). Jason, the manager, has been helpful across the board. I didn't find a couch there that met my needs (I need a small, shallow couch to fit a small space and I want it to be modern/retro looking) but he definitely did research for me and even suggested a few slightly less conventional options. He also helped me find a modern dining table that expands into a bigger size when needed. From our conversations I've learned that he has carried many different lines in the past and sticks with the ones that help him provide good customer service. Laurie helped me pick out fabrics for a headboard. I liked her taste, even when certain things she picked didn't go with my space, I wish they had. Things take a while to get in, but this is Vermont. If you order something that's not in stock, you've got to expect delays. Only reason I'm not giving them four stars is that I've had to special order things because they don't carry them in house, but this really isn't their fault. They've been patient and helpful with my "exotic" needs (not looking for typical Vermont furniture). Definitely do check them out if you're looking for new furniture and be sure to ask to see the catalogs of things they can order that aren't in the store.

The simple yet elegant design has fit in beautifully in every home we've lived in since, and we look forward to getting a lifetime of use from it. When a manufacturing defect was discovered during our most recent move, Rob and his team were quick to respond. They remade two components and sent them over, complete with new hardware. I've never experienced this level of customer service, especially on a purchase made over half a decade ago. It's amazing to see a company stand behind their products to this degree, and as soon as we are able, I intend to add another piece of their furniture to our bedroom. This item was not in stock so I knew I would be waiting a few months to get it. I was out of town when the call came that it was ready to be delivered. I instructed my husband to look it over before signing off with the delivery guy. When it came, my husband looked it over. Looked at the one installed shelf that was covered in protective wrap and did not see any scratches. He looked at the other shelves and there was no noticeable damage. This unit is massive and the delivery guy told my husband to look quickly because he had to go. It took 3 men to get it into our house. The delivery guy was not going to wait for all of this and told my husband to sign and he went on his way. This item was not damaged by us or the delivery. When I got back in town and started putting the shelves in I started to notice the top shelf, which is attached to the metal sides of the hutch, looked a little bowed. When I put the other shelves in, it became obviously clear that the top shelf was installed too tightly or not cut down enough. If you put a level on the shelf the middle part of the shelf does not touch the level. It is definitely noticeable when looking at the hutch. When I I contacted Addison West, they said they would contact the manufacturer. After a few back-and-forths she offered me $300 so that I could fix the shelf myself. I explained that it is not fixable because it is attached to the side and doing so would damage the unit. She informed me that when we signed off for it with the delivery man that we accepted it. I told her the hutch wasn't damaged, it was a lemon. That's a manufacturer messed up and they should never have sent it to us in the first place. There was no damage, it was just not built correctly and that the "damage" could not be noticed until you started putting the other shelves into the unit. Now she offered $400. No exchange of the unit and we are stuck with this expensive hutch. That is not as advertised. I think this is poor business practice, and would never use this company again.

Mattress stores have developed a tendency toward high-pressure sales that I was not eager to get involved in; at the same time, I didn't want to go the roll-pack internet-order mattress route, I wanted to try a number of mattresses before choosing one. Burlington Mattress was the experience I was hoping to have. The salesperson never put any pressure at all on me, and didn't attempt to upsell me beyond the price point I was comfortable with. She just directed me to five or six mattresses to try so I could get a feel for what was available, and she could get a sense of what I liked. Then she left me alone to spend as much time with them as I wanted, while still staying available to answer questions, which she had no problem doing. In the end I found a mattress that made my back crackle in the best possible way, and we got the sale done in just a few minutes. Delivery was smooth and easy. When the mattress arrived, they carted my old one away and brought the new one up, unwrapped it and set it up, and took all the packing material away. I've spent a few weeks with my new mattress now, and I'm still delighted. I would absolutely do business with Burlington Mattress again, it was a great experience all around.

I think having just better lighting would help, the whole place was extremely dark. Someone needs to go around with a duster or cloth and just wipe some of the products/shelves, they look dirty and dusty. There are some haphazardly placed items all over the place - and not very much household/clothing items. When we first walked in there was 1 couch and 1 chair for sale, then the first front wall had some random garden/outdoor equipement. There was 1 baby stroller, about 2 racks of clothing and the rest was mostly non perishable food items. If you are in need of condiments, canned food, cereals, and the like they have a decent selection although most items are expired. I was not expecting the best selection, but some items like medication/vitamines/baby accessories and baby sunscreens for example should not be sold if they are past their due date. Although it's cheap, I don't know why anyone would risk using expired sunscreen on their baby without knowing if it's effective? That's the kind of item I would not buy, I don't want to risk a sunburn on my sensitive baby's skin. I was hoping to find some hidden treasures and thought perhaps this place could be like Ollie's bargain bin but our party of 4 left feeling sketched out. Won't be returning, there isn't enough stuff and nothing of value.

The young woman at the counter was pleasant and she spent a little time checking things a few things out. She said she was unable to find the issue, and said she would need to bring it back to the bench to look at it. In all honesty, she did briefly mention a $45 bench fee. She said to come back within 20 minutes and she should have it fixed by then. That surprised me because she said she didn't know what was wrong with it. When I came back to pick it up, the owner (?) was at the counter and charged me $48+. I asked what was wrong with it, and she said it was a bad plug. I was shocked by the price, and queried, " You're going to charge me $48 for a $3 plug and work that would've taken about five minutes?" Her reply was curt and somewhat rude. She told me that they had to cover their bills somehow. To me, this was terrible customer service. It is my theory that the young lady at the counter could tell right away that it was just the plug when she examined it. I felt scammed. I would've happily bought a plug from them and done it myself if I only I had known. It would have been good customer service if she would have worked with me, but this woman was unwilling to budge. I tried communicating with them through email, asking if we could come to some sort of compromised bill. No one ever responded to any of my emails. Poor customer service doesn't pay in the end, but I had to!! $48 was a lot of money out of my very limited income.

We're calling because we know you wanted an estimate which is $56.70. The price is SO LOW we know you won't say "No", so we went ahead and fixed it. You can pick it up any time." Needless to say my daughter was a bit taken aback by this, and she questioned them about the behavior. When she did, the owner of the establishment became extremely rude, shouted at her, used profanity towards her, ripped out the parts he'd installed in the vacuum, then threw it at her. If I could post the voicemail to provide some validation I would. Needless to say I could not warn Yelpers more strongly to stay away from this place. Yelp doesn't allow zero stars, or that's what the rating would be for Vacuum City.
