I had three separate issues with my Hotpoint stove. The front burner stopped working, the broiler started to smoke when used, and most disconcerting- I smelled gas every time I turned the oven on. Since the stove was 10 years old, I didn't know if I should bother having it fixed, or simply replace it (depending on how serious the problems were to fix). I called Shawn at Advanced Appliance repair, and he asked several concise questions about the stove, and then was able to clearly explain what he thought was causing each issue, and explain what parts are typically replaced with that make and model. He also helped me gauge how much life was left in the appliance and whether or not it was better to replace it entirely. After a simple phone call, I felt relieved to know that the issues were generally minor and could be fixed easily. The only drawback I found was that I had to leave a message, and then wait for him to call me back. But otherwise it was a very good experience, and he seemed incredibly knowledgeable. read more

I have Advanced Appliance on speed dial (or speed text)! Shawn is absolutely one of the best to work with. He is fast, professional, honest, responsive, and fairly priced. When I moved to the area, he came the day after the movers to install my washer and dryer for me, saving me from a trip to a laundromat. Over the years I have reached out a few times, and he is always ready, willing and able to get the job done. This time, it was my dishwasher. I had a part break off a couple days ago, and he ordered the part that night, and came and replaced it for me today, the day the part arrived to him. Shawn is a very talented and trustworthy technician. He has worked on and installed several of my appliances and I have referred him countless times. "I sell appliances". Unfortunately you may not find out about him on Yelp. I just checked my company's profile on Yelp. Says we have 2.5 out of 5 stars for a rating with 4 reviews. At the bottom of the page is a filter button that you need to type in the two codes to see the real reviews. We actually have 8 reviews 5 are 5 star and 3 are one star two of those are duplicate. Apparently if you don't pay to advertise on Yelp they only post your bad reviews. I work hard to keep people happy I don't need a scam like this making it tough to make a living. read more

I really wanted to hire Shawn to check out and repair my washer. My washer became a dancer some time ago, and during the spin cycle, it spins very hard -- hard enough to make it dance across the floor. I called Shawn's business number several times and never got any response. I also contacted him through his website, but again, no response. It has been over 6 months since I first contacted him, so he must be either incredibly good at his job or he really needs an office manager and some additional help. I cannot vouch for his ability to repair appliances since I have never met him nor had him fix any of my appliances, but I do know that his customer service definitely needs improvement! read more

Shawn rocks the house. He's simply amazing at appliance repair and knows his stuff. More than once he's been able to do his best to diagnose over the phone what was wrong with my appliance, and sure enough he's nailed it. I definitely recommend calling him to fix your equipment. As a side note: Not sure what HK is talking about. "Jacked the price up?" Doubt it. Sure, Shawn's amazing, but give him a break if he didn't perfectly diagnose what was wrong over the phone. Ironically, his price came in less than his estimate on one of my jobs. He does the best he can so that he can arrive with the right part the first time and not make the dreaded second trip. Shawn was responsive, direct, and genuinely appeared to be giving me advice that was in my best interest and, clearly, *not* his. When my refrigerator was down, he made it out to my house quickly and I felt confident in his diagnosis, which was clearly stated in a way that I (layman) could understand. There's a 1-star rating saying that the customer was mislead after feeling Shawn miscommunicated his pricing. To me, Shawn's pricing was clear and correct, though it was stated in (apparently) exactly the same way and exactly the same situation occurred where the diagnosis was completed in about 15 minutes. $99+25. Over several months our washer had two recurring problems that were dealt with by another appliance repair firm, we had a leaky boot in addition to a water pump problem, being in the service business myself I was blown away with Shawn' promptness, accuracy in diagnosing and taking the time to ultimately correct this machine that was barely out or warranty. In addition prior to the service Shawn did all he could to walk me through by phone atleast the leaky boot part in order to save us money, again very impressed, I have since and will continue to suggest Advanced Appliance to all who need this service. We had 2 other service companies try to work on our stove and they really were over there head with the complexity of our unit. Shawn was extremely helpful, diagnosed my fridge problem immediately, was super efficient with his time, had the right part, and respectful of my home. The installer was going to be a bit late for the appointment but he had his scheduler call and let us know that which we really appreciated. Shawn came out to fix my dryer because it wasn't heating anymore. He quickly found a blown fuse on the element. Repaired that and pointed out that I also had a bad pulley and belt. My pulley was obviously burned up which caused the belt to be brittle. Asked if I wanted that fixed too; he even had the parts needed on hand! Dryer was back up and running quick and would have broken again soon if he hadn't shown me the bad pulley. Great service! read more

Great guy. Had them out to look over my washer that didn't drain. He was able to do some light diagnostics on the phone with me and was able to pin point the issue. When he arrived he had the new pump that did in fact fix the washer. He was in and out in 20 mins. He was clean neat and well organized.
