The owner of this local franchise reached out to me personally after hours to discuss my needs. He apologize for calling after hours, but said he wanted to get back to me as soon as possible. I truly appreciate that. I was able to get on their calendar and have the job completed within a very reasonable time, during a busy time of year. The day of the service, the team of Text that was going to do the job remained in constant communication with me. The lady I spoke to in the office, McKelly, was phenomenal. She helped me get an invoice marked paid so I could use it when I get my taxes. She was friendly and knowledgeable, and just super nice. Several weeks after Superior Softwash came to my home and softwashed the roof I noticed browning on shrubs in the front of my home. Close to a month later my 25+ year old Norway Spruce and Blue Spruce turned brown almost overnight. I have also noticed a potted weeping Alaskan Cedar start to fail. I, as well as my landscaping crew, regularly water my property as I have thousands of dollars invested in decidous trees and shrubs as well as numerous mature conifers in my yard. My Baltimore County water bill is a good indicator of how I religiously water my landscape! I have employed Davey Tree Service, a licensed aborist, at my home for over 30 years. They come to my home during the Spring through fall seasons to inspect, fertilize and treat my landscape on a regular schedule. Davey Tree Service, as well as my landscaping company, were at my property just prior to the softwashing job. No damage to any plant material was seen at the time. After each visit I get oral as well as written reports from both parties in regard to any noticable plant/tree/shrub problems. When both returned in late August their reports noted the damage to trees and shrubs, as well as some perennials planted near my home. Another written opinion was sent to me from the arborist at the local Davey Tree service who came out specifically to inspect the damaged conifers. He supported all findings of the Davey Crew and the landscaping team servicing my property. The contract I signed with Superior Softwash was executed on my part, based soley on the promise that there would be, specifically, no damage to my "high value" (their words) landscape or koi pond. I spoke with their agent/salesman, in great detail about this and repeatedly noted that I had many valuable specimin trees and did not want to risk damaging or losing them. He added an addendum to the contract which stated "Guarantee Deluxe Plant Care - Significant/high value landscaping - water/neutralize/fortify - no plant loss guarantee - $75." He stated that his company had worked at numerous homes in Potomac, Maryland with similiar landscapes to mine and there had never been any problems. I asked him if this (the "guarantee" for which I was paying extra) was, in effect, like insurance against any potential damage to my landscape. His answer was "yes". There was never once any mention that damages had to be reported within a specific time when paying this additional fee. (Their site manager quoted a time frame of 10 days in an email after the damage appeared, while their standard written contract stated 14 days after completion for reporting damages.) I am not sure why I was charged an additional amount for what I perceived to be liability insurance when they would not honor the "Guarantee" added to the contract. I based my decision to employ their services ONLY after their agent added the "guarantee" which never included any time frame. Had he told me I would not be covered for any damages that presented after 10 or 14 days I would have never signed their contract. Conifers, especially more mature established trees, do not always show damage until a month or more. I did call another softwashing company to ask about their guarantees and I was informed that no softwashing company can guarantee against plant damage and they were surprised that I was given a guarantee by another company as they had never heard of such a thing in their industry. I reported the damage to the agent (my only contact with the company at the time) as soon as I noticed it. He referred me to a woman in their office. I left a message for her and when I heard back the next week I was told the site manager would come out the next day to take a look. Nobody ever called or showed up the next day. I left messages again that week but got no response. After Davey Tree came out the following Monday to give their opinion as to the cause of the brown trees I contacted the office again. The woman in the office said she would leave a message again for the site manager. Instead, I asked for the site manager's direct phone number as it had been 12 days since I first reported the problem. I was ready to call my attorney at this point as it seemed they were avoiding me. When I finally got an email from the site manager later that day he said I was out of the "10 day warranty" period but he would send his "plant crew" out to "hydrate the landscape and give nutrients to the plants that are in need of a little encouragement to bounce back". I declined as my entire yard had already been fertilized recently and more fertilizer would kill more of the trees, shrubs and plants in my landscape. I asked again for him to come out and see the damage first hand. At this point I was told, to stop bothering him and his co-workers in their office as I was harrassing them! I will now have to bear the brunt of a very expensive bill to clean up the mess. I spent almost $2.600. for their service and the clean up will be more than 5 times that. read more

We do this instead of power washing. This is very easy to schedule and typically, they send someone to review and price the project first. Terrific upfront pricing. The work is good and lasts several years. This cost is similar to power washing but is less damaging to the exterior of the house. Work was timely, easy, and no plants were harmed in the process. We did soak down everything near the house the night before. We didn't have to water those planting after because of all the rain we had. Be prepared for a bleach smell a day or so afterwards. Again, we have now done this 3 times (4 years apart) and highly recommend. Great process, terrific people. read more

They assured me that there were no chemicals in their cleaning agent that were harmful to animals, but when I requested the MSDS sheet, there WAS a chemical in it that could harm my dog. The salesperson promoted the soft wash as "eco-friendly." In my opinion, it's far from eco-friendly. The solution burned most of the plants around my house, including a prized hydrangea. The hydrangea never recovered and now must be removed completely. In addition to burning the foliage, while working on my roof, they threw the hose down right on top of the hydrangea, causing even further damage. My neighborhood reeked of chlorine-like fumes for days. The fumes travelled up to three houses away. How can a solution that smells so strong be eco-friendly?? It was horrible!! I wondered how the "technicians" could breath this stuff. I noticed a couple of them tied bandanas over their noses. I was told the job would only take one day. Well, one day turned into three days...late starts, equipment failure, miscommunications. My house and roof are clean, but at a cost I would never have agreed to had I known about the chlorine-like fumes my neighbors were subjected to, and misleading eco-friendly information provided by the salesman. read more

Very positive experience. We were looking to get the house cleaned and didn't want a strong powerwash which may damage the siding. this company uses specialized equipment and cleaning solution which is low power and doesn't damage anything. It does smell a bit like bleach so I can't say how specialized the chemicals were. But it did the job and they definitely didn't use high power sprayers. There was virtually no noise, no loud power washers. Their price was a bit higher than regular power washers. We hesitated a bit and cut out some of the add-ons to negotiate to what i felt was a decent price. It was still expensive but they were quite thorough. Overall I'd recommend highly if you want your house cleaned and willing to pay a premium for reliable workers, good equipment and process. read more

Their price was competitive, they came on time, were completely professional, and the team stayed for amount 6 hours until the job was done. I spoke with this company before and told them I did not appreciate it, the neighborhood has a no soliciting policy. The 2 young men who came to treat mold on roof were very pleasant and thorough. The company sent the team quickly as requested because I wanted the spray from the roof not to get on a new garden I was having installed below at the end of the week. I tried to cover existing plants but ran out of tarps and wind blew one off. Another company that I had interviewed told me they used tarps to protect plants around house.... the result was some uncovered plants were burned by the spray....one seriously. Furthermore the grass where downspouts from roof gutters emptied onto grassy areas was severely burned. The instructions they left said to water plants around house with drip hoses which I then ordered but did not have at the time and I don't believe that would have helped at all. The plants were burned on top. And no one warned me about the buried downspouts that emptied 8 or more feet from the house I wrote to them, sent pictures and urged them to take protective measures. They never responded but I hope they have adopted some homeowner protective measures. Caveat emptor. read more

What I thought was going to be a relatively simple encounter with SSW quickly turned otherwise. In addition to having the house washed, I paid the extra to have the gutters and deck cleaned too. Andy told me for problem spots, the crew would use a brush. Before the crew left, my wife had them come back and redo the side of the house against the deck as well as the gutters. The gutters still have stains on them so I'm not sure how much scrubbing was actually done. After they left, we took a closer look at the work. Some of our windows had a film on them. It was then that we noticed our oval accent window had three inches of water on the inside. We called and they asked us to email some pics. We then spoke with Lori. She immediately denied the window could have been damaged by their process. That was pretty much the end of her side of the conversation. We called her again the next day. She continued to deny the ability to have damaged the window. After saying my only obvious recourse was my review, she agreed to speak with her supervisor. She said he'd be by the next day. When he showed up, it became evident his only job was to come to my house and continue to deny any possible culpability...but with a smile. We showed him the gutters and he said that was permanent and would have to be painted. He then went on to tell me the color differences in the wood on the deck was because my deck had sunburn. The darker spots were a UV sunburn. He seemed to have an answer/excuse/denial for all the imperfections. So, I took some Soft Scrub and a sponge on my gutters and they now look way better than after they left. So much for needing a paint job. A similar oval window is going to cost me $2500...just for the window. I'll ether have to pay more to have it installed, or pull the siding off and replace it myself. They DID offer to send a crew back to rinse off the windows. So, let me think about this. The house looks great, but if I want clean gutters and windows, I'll need to clean them myself after paying SSW to so the job. A new window is going to cost me a minimum of $2500.00 and now they want me to give them a SECOND shot at the REST of my windows? How many more windows do they think I can afford to replace since they will just deny any of THOSE were damaged by them? So, all in all, this whole ordeal cost me over $3500.00 and I STILL have windows and gutters to clean. read more

Disgraceful sales and performance with tragic consequences for our yard. We have a mature Japanese garden that includes more than 50 plants. As soon as the salesperson said they used bleach I said, "we can't proceed because it will kill the plants." I believed him when he said that they neutralize and fertilize, and the plants will be fine. If the salesperson had an ounce of integrity, he should have taken one look at the garden and said that they could not safely use their process on our house. After the work was done, the crew handed me instructions stating I needed to water the garden three times over the next 10 days to prevent it from "drying out". The salesperson made no mention of this. Nor does their website, as of October 2020. The instructions said every plant needed to have its roots soaked for 20 minutes. You do the math: 20 minutes times 50 plants/trees. I called the supervisor, Lori, and expressed concern. She said, "no problem, I'll send a crew with soaker hoses." The crew showed up at 8pm and tried to lay the cheap 1/2 inch soaker hoses in the dark. The hose was totally insufficient to do the required watering. After trying for an hour to get it to work, Lori told the crew to go home and she was supposed to call me the next morning. It is now a week later, and I have yet to hear from her. There was no neutralizing; you could smell the bleach as you walked through the garden and the neighborhood. The bleach burns are not just on trees within 6 feet of our house; there are burns on our neighbor's trees 12 feet away. The die-off is continuing as the days go by. The garden is scarred and will never be the same. Do not trust this company and do not believe in the process. You will be heartbroken. read more

I called the owner, Jeff Kirby, this morning to ask him to stop littering. Their marketing strategy is to drive through neighborhoods and throw plastic bags that contain their business flier and 2 pieces of hotel soap into the everyone's driveways. They did this in our neighborhood yesterday. He indicated that he can and will continue to do so. He said that the market dictates what he does. I told him that he is littering and that the residents in our association do not want it or appreciate it. He did not care. Never would I work with such a company! The business uses large binder clips for their brochures that are distributed from company vehicles that land on private lawns, driveways, sidewalks, county grass medians, and county roads. The materials are not picked up by homeowners because they are in the road or in common areas. Cars run over the binder clips, they break and it results in razor sharp edges. More like 4.5 stars after the initial job and some weeks after. The house looks great and everything really does look spotless. There's been no obvious plant die-off or any injury to the grass that I can tell (which was a concern as they recommend watering before and after the process). They guarantee the job for 3-4 years afterwards. The "wash" apparently has specific anti-mold, anti-fungal properties that maintain the integrity of the wash longer than a regular pressure-clean. One of those properties is bleach, although you only find this out after you smell it. 100% organic, which technically it is, although I don't really see it that way. But so long as it works, and it doesn't harm plants and small animals, and it does what they say, who am I to argue? The salesperson was prompt, timely with his presentation and a pleasure to shake hands with. The two guys who came to do the wash were sweet, eager to explain and got into every crevice and corner. At first I was annoyed with the company because it was difficult to schedule an appointment. I had to call multiple times after paying my initial deposit. They have a $350 minimum, which meant my bill of $348 wasn't enough, so I had to add another service. I felt their prices were extremely expensive, they wanted $1400 just to do the outside of the house, & they quoted me $3500 to do everything outside, which is crazy to me. However, after the bad customer service on the phone and with the sales girl, the tech who came out to perform the service, Daesean, was extremely kind, worked very hard, was extremely respectful, and ultimately earned my respect. Totally annoying and incompetent. I received a quote and set up a day and time for them to wash my son's roof. The time came and went. An hour later, I talked to them and they said it would be another hour. We rescheduled. The day of the rescheduled wash, they didn't show up on time; an hour and a half after the scheduled time, I called, and they said they would arrive about an hour later (or two hours after the scheduled time).
