With huge plate glass windows throughout the space. There was also a rainwater drainage issue that needed a solution. All my concerns about the tile layout and sloping for drainage and protecting the big windows were all addressed both upfront and throughout process. This job included removing the old tiles, machine grinding to remove old cement and rebuilding of the cement base outside, putting in a new drainage pipe through a cement frame under a glass wall and then installing the new tile. The end result is a beautiful new tile floor. I highly recommend DJ and his team to handle your home remodel projects.

I believe they have the skill set to do basic repairs and projects. Maybe even more than easy, but it seems when any sort of adversity comes the quality falters. I had a driveway done, which does look nice, but ended up cracking in quite a few places. Not two or three places, but all over. Cracking across the majority of the driveway. I asked about any sort of warranty, having one or two cracks I could've looked past it. When it continued and started cracking all over it got frustrating. Especially when JD came out and looked at the cracks and told me he would ask his concrete guys about a fix. (At this point I was already anticipating he would NOT get back to me, and what do you know. Ghosted.) No communication after that, no attempts to update me on any sort fix. For anyone that reads the reviews. You'll notice the out of country, had an emergency excuse. He used that excuse with me as well after blowing us off for multiple days at a time. Seems fishy. Cheap contractor. Cheap work. Bad customer service. I'd recommend to do your due diligence and get more quotes especially if these guys are your only one. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I paid extra for what, at the time, were called 25 year (asphalt) shingles instead of what were (at the time) called 20 year shingles. My roof still looked OK, and I was confident that it would go through at least one more winter without leaking. There was a certain amount of low-level stress, though, whenever I thought about my old roof, so I decided to get a new roof. I got two estimates, but I liked the idea of A Better Roofing doing the new roof 32 years after they did my first new roof. I also liked what I read on the A Better Roofing website on their "About Us" webpage https://www.abetterroofing.com/about-us/ and their estimate was lower than the other contractor's estimate. The A Better Roofing crew removed the old roof then installed the new roof, all in one day. Since I got good results/value paying extra for upgraded shingles in 1994, I paid extra for upgraded shingles in 2026. :) After my new roof was installed and I had paid, I told Christian that A Better Roofing had installed my previous new roof in 1994. He told me that more than half of their business is referrals (a new roof owner recommending A Better Roofing to someone else who is ready for a new roof) and repeat customers (like me). I've never had anything like this happen to my home before and I was completely overwhelmed with the situation. Shay took the time to explain to me what my rights were with my insurance company and empowered me to wrest control of the rehabilitation of my home back into my hands. I felt as if I should have paid him at least $500 just for the valuable information that he gave me. He also secured my roof from further damage as he did not want my husband or myself to go up on the roof and have to do it ourselves. I did not ask him to do this, he offered to do this at NO CHARGE!!! He also made sure that the property was secured on the outside and inside before leaving my home. I had not signed anything and he wasn't acting as if he was getting the job. What he was doing was acting like a caring Contractor who also happens to be a very kind and caring individual. I don't even have a bid yet from Shay Barber of First Choice Construction, but I plan on hiring him, whatever the cost, as he's already earned my trust! I already had two contractors come out and give me bids and each contractor had assumed that they would automatically get the job even though I had not indicated that I would hire them. One Contractor required $500 upfront just to give me a bid! The other one still has not sent me a bid even though I have requested a quote 4 times.

He then surprised me with wanting another few hundred dollars which was NOT discussed. He gave me an estimate for repairs and it was not the lowest but was doable. That was end of April. I paid half down beginning of May with the promise that supplies were purchased and I was on the schedule. 8 weeks later he finally shows up for ONE day. He announced the next day my whole roof was rotted and needed to be replaced. His words..."shit roof". He discussed for an extra $3000 he could do more extensive repairs in lieu of replacement. I asked for a written estimate. the estimate came in an extra $9k. this was over the last long July 4th weekend. I "disapproved" the change order. I texted this, sent two emails and finally when I asked about getting it completed prior to rain on Wednesday, he said :"It'll be no problem for us". I added that I wanted to ensure he does NOT buy supplies as I said NO to the extensive work he wanted to do. They show up on Monday, late again. I called Shay again to ensure he knew I did NOT approve the extra work. he then proceeded to curse me out, that the supplies were already purchased and the work already started. I said that makes no difference as I never approved any of it. The cursing continued. BTW-the ridge vent had only just then was being pulled up about two feet before I stopped them. he then demanded more money to put things back together or he would make his guys leave my roof open and exposed. he finally hung up on me when i did not give in. he called back and I agreed to pay him all but the last $2k just to get this closed prior to raining. I called the office, Chepe was very nice and took my card number. After the roof was done that day my plan was to pay the rest by cashiers check. when I checked my account I found that the last payment had already been processed by 1st Choice...without my authorization. From the other reviews, this seems to be his tactic. How he is still in business is beyond me. Although this is a long review please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! Because of the weather there was a couple of week lag time. Luckily they came out to put a temporary fix in our leak for no additional charge. The night after they came out and fixed it it dumped like crazy but our roof help up. They were very communicative during the whole process and they emailed us pictures during the construction to show us their progress. After a week we had a fantastic roof. Having owned a business for many years the success in business is pretty simple - just do what you say you're going to do - They did and they earned our trust.

I know nothing about roofs but the owner , Pat, spent a lot of time educating and teaching me about the project. This made me feel confident I chose the right team. The crew that arrived, led by Luis, was great. Luis was friendly, explained what the team was going to be up to, moved the trucks when we needed, and were accommodating to our busy day and family going in and out. No mess was left behind.
