Thursdays at Superette are the highlight of my week. They always curate a thoughtful selection of wines, including interesting and unique ones that I would not likely have the opportunity to try otherwise. I love that they support smaller producers too! The whipped feta is magical, and the sirloin shishkabobs are always incredible. Not to mention the delicious lemon lavender cake. This place is a special, serene haven in Gainesville with kind and attentive service. Will continue to regularly visit! read more

The only reason I gave this even two stars is because the wine and food are good, and the outside seating area is lovely. That being said, every single time I have been here, service has been atrocious. And I don't even mean in an ignore you type of way. The staff are incredibly rude. I went there yesterday for graduation. I ordered a bottle of wine and the waitress dropped the cork in the wine. No big deal. A gentlemen tries to fish it out. The cork started disintegrating into the wine. He takes a large strainer and starts straining the wine. He gives me the wine in a decanter with large cork pieces floating in it. I show him the cork pieces. He takes it to the back and brings the decanter back out, claiming that he poured a new bottle into the decanter. I walk back up to the gentleman and show him the smaller pieces of cork still in the decanter. The manager came up and rudely asked if we didn't want the wine because of the "natural cork" in wine. I tell her I don't want cork floating in my wine. The gentlemen opens a fresh bottle, rudely slams it down on the table without saying a word. The staff is incredibly rude, with the owner being the worst. The passive aggressive comments that she has left on all other negative comments goes to further prove this point. LOVE this new gem of Gainesville! Always love coming back to my hometown and hearing about new places. Superette has an elite wine collection and is a classy place to sip, eat, and unwind! The employees are extremely kind and knowledgeable about the wines they carry from all across the country. We ordered an orange wine and they described how it's made and the uniqueness and flavor profile of each type they carried. Our bottle was $48, but split between two people really is reasonable to enjoy fine wine that you honestly can't get at your local grocery store. You can build your own cheese and charcuterie board and they also have small bites as well. Small seating inside and expansive seating outdoors. 100% will come back once I'm home again! :) read more

The food was good but the value questionable (let's just say I'd prefer to make my own charcuterie board). They no longer serve quiche, which we were so looking forward to. This place is overpriced with very average food and bad service (no service). Judging from the menu items, it seems like the intention was to serve unique and quality food. Then somehow they dropped the ball on service and quality. The uniqueness of it was reduced to our bad experience. The manager/owner kept walking around and excusing (in a passive way) the lack of service to a busy night but it was a lot more than that. It was the style of service they established for their business and clearly from the beginning. That is to have a low cost by hiring a few service staff devoted to the handful of tables inside and on the porch. The customers seated on of their outdoor property, which is the majority, are on their own and paying the same price as the ones being waited on. We had to get our own water, drinks, and utensils. You would order and pay for your food and drink at a counter (like in a fast food shop), then you wait for over an hour for the food to arrive for one person at a time- 15-20 minutes between each dish. Appetizers and main dishes came together with several items on the dishes missing and some items tasted very stale. Even the presentation was sad and sloppy. After such long wait for food and hearing the manager's poor excuse, you're so hungry that you would devour whatever nonsense they put in front of you. I went there with a fun company of friends and the weather was pleasant so it was not a waste of time but it was definitely a waste of money and we will never go back. read more

As someone constantly in the pursuit of restaurants that encompass a healthy mix of ambiance, quality food and a reason to come back for more, this place embraces it all. Located at what once was Civilization, Superette takes seasonal items and creates a diverse menu that has just enough items that will make you have several enticing items to choose from without overwhelming you with options. They will change their menu depending on what's in season. As an appetizer, the grilled bread sampler is filled with buttery goodness, with up to 4 different spreads. The soup of the day was a very earthy and hearty mushroom soup. The confit chicken is amazingly tender and its skin is immaculately crisped to perfection. The accompanying vegetables were also well-roasted and not overcooked. They have an expansive wine selection, imported goods/deli items, as well as freshly made salads. My only critique is the lack of parking. I highly recommend carpooling or coming during off-peak hours. If you are unable to find parking on site, you will likely have to hike 1-2 blocks after parking at the nearby Publix. TL;DR: A fantastic local addition to the food scene full of umami. Great place for a date, but be ready to carpool/Uber. read more

I ordered the breakfast burrito with no bacon. They were super accommodating and said they could modify anything and make it vegetarian for me. this is a dreamy little spot tucked away behind main street. i'm so glad superette opened up in gainesville! it reminds me of wine bars in other cities. the outdoor seating is plenty and perfect for the florida weather. it's decorated very tastefully with small details accenting the space. they offer an extensive list of wines which can be bought by the glass or by the bottle (with a $7 fee). they also have cheese boards (including vegan cheese options!) and tapas from 5-9 i believe. oooh and they have a sweet little deli section with chicken salads, caviar, and smoked salmon for sale. read more

My husband and I met the owner Maya seredipitously at lunch on her birthday. We are major foodies and appreciate quality. After meeting Maya we knew we wanted to go to her restaurant for dinner. This has to be one of the best new additions to the Gainesville food scene. Drive by and you might miss it. But if you find the place, you are in for a treat. A good balance of indoor and outdoor seating really helps the food shine all the more. Going for that French bistro/wine bar/tapas vibe, this place nails it. I ordered the bread and spread sampler and the Schmaltz Tartine and they were both fantastic. The sampler consists of delicious toasted bread slices paired with 4 different types of spreads. There's an olive tapenade spread with nice acidity and bite from the vinegar and olives. There's a Cremé Fraiche spread that is creamy and rich. There's a white bean purée spread that is meaty and filling. And finally, there's a pepper butter spread that is so rich and smooth with just a hint of spice. The Schmaltz Tartine is just as delicious as it sounds. Fat poached chicken is so tender and rich and rests on some beautiful light and airy toast. The use of micro greens and pickled mustard seeds helps to cut the richness. Gainesville, you have really stepped it up. This place is fantastic and I hope more places like this pop up :) read more

Been hearing about this restaurant since moving to Gainesville so I was excited to try it. Had a very disappointing experience. Service was terribly slow. I ordered the breakfast plate because I love Ferenbacher's sausage, the jam sounded amazing, and because I heard their biscuits were really good. We waited about 20 minutes for our food when the waitress advised us they were out of biscuits (at 11:30 on a Sunday?? As if they could not see that one coming! ) Then we waited another extended period of time before our order came. When it arrived, they informed me that they were also out of sausage so just gave me bacon without any choice. And when I asked where the jam was, they advised they had run out of that too. They did not offer an alternative. I had ordered my eggs poached. They came hard boiled and tasted very strongly of vinegar. They had no seasoning whatsoever and there was no salt or pepper on the table. Service was so slow that we missed our 1 o'clock appointment. Because I had a long bicycle ride ahead of me I had to eat the largely inedible food. It was truly a bad experience. read more

I'm more then happy to leave my " purse dog" as you so kindly like to put it in the heat outside while I'm inside ordering as long as you provide a place with water and spot to keep my dog. Tonight was our first time with Superette - take out, but after seeing their lush setup outside, we'll be back to partake onsite.  Hearing rave reviews and drooling over the online menu made our expectations pretty high, and they were exceeded.  Seems like the kind of place that only does what they can do exceedingly well.  Veggie hand pie pastry was astonishingly light and flaky complemented by savory eggplant, exotically spiced filling.  Fun and yummy house pickle plate; cheese + charcuterie board selections (smoked duck, marinated beef,  cambozola...) were divine!  Even condiments were outstanding - excited for leftovers tomorrow (ample servings) and for our next visit! read more

Hard to even explain the level of excellence experienced tonight. Took my Dad out to a wine bar I've been meaning to check out, and it turned out to be the single best restaurant experience I've ever had. We sat at the bar, and I asked the bartender Kory if they had any Rhone Valley wines, knowing how well it would pair with a cheese and charcuterie board, as well as some other things I'd seen on the food menu. He steered me towards an outstanding Cotes du Rhones (Kermit Lynch - 2021), and we ordered the aforementioned cheese/butcher board with fennel salami and a brown ale/whole grain mustard aged cheddar, we each got a kale-beet-feta-walnut salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and we split the braised short rib flatbread. I can't even explain how well these three items paired with this bottle of wine (and it was so affordable - $34 -- I noticed later that they had a Chateneuf-du-Pape for $172 and yes if I was looking for an evening of Rhone decadence it's nice to know that was an option). The service, the creativity and quality of the menu, the kitchen staff's superb execution of said menu, all these things add up to a tremendous introductory experience. Asked another friendly staff member what they had for dessert wine and it was a bottle of Greek sparkling orange wine that was absolutely delicious, paired it with the baklava. Another affordable bottle of wine ($36) to end the night on a perfect note. This isn't just one of the best restaurants in Gainesville, or Florida for that matter -- it's one of the most impressive wine/food spots in the entire country. Salute! read more

If I could leave a zero star review I would. We attempted to dine here a few months ago, my sister and I. I brought my dog along as they had outside seating. Our experience was horrible as we quickly tried to order inside as I held my small dog, I don't like to bring my dog inside restaurants but how else am I to order???? No one came out to assist us. There was no menu outside. So we went inside to quickly order and they said no dogs so we said ok we'll figure it out outside but can you talk with us about the wine selection? She's like yes and walks away. Expects me to go outside. Can I not be involeved in the conversation???? Am I to leave my dog unattended outside? Could be a service animal. No one came out to talk to us. So we left. My sister left a negative review discussing this experience. later we receive feedback on that review. Which was super snarky and I dont appreciate the response talking about how yes even a "cute dog" is not allowed. I wasn't trying to bring my dog into your restaurant. This is awful customer service and I would never recommend this place to anyone I will post everywhere about how shitty I was treated here because I tried to order food with a dog that I held the entire time so she didn't even touch your floor read more

We went to Superette while visiting my sons in Gainesville, and what a great find! The menu is based on locally sourced artisanal provisions, prepared perfectly, and served in a comfortable, friendly environment. The watermelon gaspacho, in-house made gravlax, and melon/prosciutto tartine were all amazing. My sons also devoured the breakfast burrito, which came with a homemade adobo dip.
