Well the owner has now posted a reply that is a complete misrepresentation instead of trying to fix a simple problem - completely tracks with the behavior described in my post. So, we were NOT asked to sit in a waiting area - we were told we had to sit in two specific chairs next to the entry door - no other choices Even though there is plenty of bench seating away from the entry door. We told the hostess, we would wait on the bench seating and she said no, we were not allowed even though there was another guest waiting there. Also, we were not given options on where to sit and the explanation given - cutting staff - does not make any sense. There are tables that are not under the tent that are just as close to the restaurant. and yes, you can fall in love with a restaurant and its space and when the owner changes the usability of the space and treats you as a child, you can fall out of love with it. read more

Sat outside for brunch on a beautiful sunny winter day. 5 in my party so we had a variety of dishes on our table. The menu is varied, comfort with good choices for everyone. Absolutely everything was delicious: the burger, the hash, and especially the Phyllo French Toast. Our service for large party was great. read more

We love this place so much! It's such a cute wine bar! It's as close to an enoteca as we have found near Ocala. The owner, Maya, is super friendly and nice and always helps us pick out a good Italian wine. They have a nice little selection of small producers which we love. We have yet to try their food. read more

If there is one thing you need to get when coming to superette it is the french toast. Literally the best french toast I have ever had and I honestly am not even a fan of french toast in general. The breakfast sandwich was absolutely delicious as well as the potato hash. Superette has great vibes with a chill patio seating and nice indoor seating. Very unique menu, make sure to check out their brunch and dinner! read more

I went to visit my daughter at University of Florida for the weekend and looked at Yelp for suggestions. This place came up. We arrived and it's the cutest outdoor area with lots of tables. You need to order in the counter for outside or full service for the inside. The weather was 64 degrees so we ate outside. They sell wine by the glass or full bottles along with beer. The menu is farm to table style. We order to start a Mezze sampler with hummus, roasted red pepper and babbaganoush. It also included pita bread, grape leaves with rice and olives. It was delicious. Second, we order a roasted beets and kale with a balsamic glaze. We had the small portion and perfect for two. As main plate we order the chicken plate with spice Greek rice (it was not that spicy) with veggies and mustard seeds. Everything we order we share for two and we were full. It is a very cute place for a date or fun with friends. Device was great. The food took a while and waited around 40 minutes. Had a great time with my daughter did not mind waited. We catch up in conversations. read more

The place and the people are amazing! I went with my girlfriend and we ordered: French press, olive cake, whipped feta and Lebanese hash we loved it. The food was delicious, I'm an incredibly fast eater and I needed to go slow because very bite was too good not to throughly enjoy. The place was amazing, great music selection and ambience. They have 3 main places, a porch patio, a backyard and an inside space. We sat under a beautiful pine tree and we loved it. The food came in antique plates that look amazing. Everywhere you would look you would see a little detail or decoration that made the location magical. The parking is limited, when we arrived there were only 2 spots. The only thing that I was disappointed is that the system to get tips to the server did not work at the time so I could not give a tip to the person who was helping us so well (yes the service was so good that I was sad I could not give a tip to the server). Thankfully, when we order the drinks and dessert the tip system worked again so we tipped the server. 100% recommend, great place to go on a date or just enjoy by yourself. PS: We went in the late morning/ early afternoon I heard they have a great bar in the evening that I would be checking other time! read more

I've been here a few times. If the weather is nice, it is an amazing place to hang out with some cheese and wine. Most of the seating is outdoors. I've tried a few of their salads and was not impressed. Keep to the baked goods and charcuterie board. Service has always been friendly. read more

Love love love this spot! You'd be hard-pressed to find a better location to enjoy a beautiful Florida afternoon with great drinks and food. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially when you have questions about the extensive wine menu. I particularly enjoy the Mediterranean elements on the menu, from crumbles of halva adorning the French toast to the saganaki (cheese flambéed with brandy). If you're a wine lover, I highly recommend enjoying a glass on the spacious yet cozy patio. read more

The small restraint in the middle of Gainesville is quite cute. Walking in there was very few seating and mostly outdoor eating area. But they have very beautiful decorations and feels like you are not in a college town at all. The food was so delicious and I believe they source their ingredients locally, which could possibly change their seasonal menu. I would definitely return and have a glass of wine with some friends for a nice evening. Downside: you order over a counter and the food did take almost one hour to arrive read more

Great restaurant food was great. Service was incredible. Good vibes all around!!!!! The salmon was incredible and the hummus great as well

Service was sub par: the server was new and obviously untrained. They had difficulty with special requests, such as asking for sauce on the side. One side dish (fries) came out only after I reminded the server about it and it was more than 15 minutes after the rest of the food came out. Food: lacked flavor and salt. Venue was very nice. read more

This is such a beautiful hidden gem here in Gainesville! I have been to Superette twice now and both experiences were amazing! Atmosphere: This is mostly an outdoor setting with a string light bulb outside when it gets darker and a few seats on the inside. The ambiance is chill and is perfect for a date night or catching up with your friends. Wine/Provisions: They provide a wide variety of bottled wines or you get wine by the glass with their suggested selections. They also offered sangria press as well! For the first time, I had a Sangria press which was delicious, and the second time I got a bottle of white wine. For food, for the first time, I had the bread with several spreads ranging from sweet to savory. On the second trip, I had the salmon dip as well as the lemon lavender cake! Just wow! That cake was everything!! Super moist and the flavors were well balanced. Superette offers rotating pastries and desserts. I sure do hope this cake makes another appearance! Service/Logistics: Overall, the service was outstanding in both instances. You order your food and drinks at the counter inside then you are given a number for your table. You pick up your wine glasses and get your wine. The food is brought out to you and after you are done there is a station where you leave your glasses, utensils, wine bottles, and plates. Overall, will definitely recommend it! I am excited to return and try more menu items and desserts! read more

I enjoyed my first visit so much, I came back 2 more nights that same week! As a lover of a great wine, a fabulous charcuterie board and great vibes - Superette has it all. When you walk into their quaint shop, it's so peaceful and full of so much eye-candy! Your eyes may first wander to the wall of delicious wine options, each situated in their rightful locations among their grape kin. There are so many but it still doesn't seem too overwhelming somehow. I'm no sommelier so I love that I can ask the wonderful Superette team members for their recommendations and they haven't let me down yet! Prices are quite reasonable, ranging from around $16+, and they all stand out! Don't want wine? Beer is on draft, as well as special Sangria presses! (Yes, I know Sangria is wine but whatever) Don't want a bottle of wine? There's always a few options available up front for a quick glass! Once you've chosen your drink, you've got to try some of the food available. I'm still making my way through the menu because the dinner options look so good. But I've completely fallen for their pickled vegetable plate - OMG. I expected just pickles but got peppers, crisp green beans and more, and wow - sooooo good. Another visit saw me grabbing a charcuterie board which was beautifully prepped and so good. The outdoor seating is so gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing (for our eyes and IGs), it's even better that the offerings will blow you away right along with the vibes! read more

Maya's narcissistic rage comes to the fore in the piteous gaslighting attempt in her reply to my original review. It's analogous to an irritating fly telling us to stay away from its garbage pile, but narcissistic rage is what it is, and we will happily avoid this dumpster fire. We've dined at many actual luxury restaurants that are priced far higher than this sad little place - from Daniel Humm's Eleven Madison Park in Manhattan to Thomas Keller's French Laundry in Yountville to charming Ristorante Allegria in Napa, after a day of wine tasting at Alpha Omega - and have always provided glowing Yelp reviews for their food and service (as seen in my other reviews), but Maya not only offered no apology in her reply for making us all ill, but actually thinks that we would ever want to return to her pathetic little failure, when we live on the other side of the country and certainly don't revisit inferior establishments that also happened to have made us ill. While we normally do not bother to rate or review forgettable mediocrities like Maya's Superette, the food poisoning was enough for us to make an exception and warn others about it. Instead of mocking customers whom her "eatery" made ill, Maya should perhaps spend some time on self-reflection while waiting in line at the next Black Friday sale at Walmart where she likely gets her "thoughtfully sourced" food. read more

I recently visited this "wine bar" that left a lot to be desired. From the moment I walked in, I could tell that something was off. The ambiance was lackluster, boxes were scattered near the shelved wine posing a trip risk, and many food items were not available. It was as if someone's well intended but too polite to be honest friends convinced a member of their posse who organized girls' nights to open a restaurant except she always burnt the hors d'oeuvres and served expired Welch's grape juice from estate sale glasses, cutlery, and plates retrieved from a landfill. It was a bit like showing up to your great aunt's home with an entertainment selection of canned olives and big store packaged charcuterie boards and veggie trays from Walmart. Except you visited a few months before she fell from tripping over a box from Amazon and was afterwards transported by ambulance to the hospital for a broken hip that she couldn't crawl away from; a paramedic who felt duty bound reported the condition of the home to Adult Protective Services which then resulted in her needing to go into an assisted living facility. After almost tripping over a wayward box, I tried to peruse the wine offerings, attempting to make the best of a place that a dear friend was excited to try for the first time. The prices were steep and I felt like I was being taken advantage of, like wading through timeshare salespeople in Cancun. The service was nonexistent. Superette only offers extremely entitled counter service that must survive from guilting customers in to tipping and also paying for the privilege to explore a career in hospitality. As we considered abandoning the venture due to items ordered being unavailable, the counter person opened the bottle of wine we ordered which made us feel trapped into humoring the experience. What a mistake! If only we had left at this point despite the social pressure to pay for the open bottle of wine and the ignored warning conveyed by many items in our order being unavailable, . To my surprise, despite a member of our party going above and beyond to tip for counter service, even basic service such as setting a table or providing ice or water was entirely up to the customer. Even she had buyer's remorse about tipping in this instance and she works in a field that is also traditionally tipped with the tendenc I had to take it upon myself to wipe the table and seating down and clear the debris before we could even begin the cascade to calamity after ordering. The same low quality experience went for the utensils, glasses, and plates, which I had to search for in a communal shelving area. Beyond the wine being subpar and not worth the price - the same bottle literally sells for under $7.50 at Total Wine and is marked up to over $30 - we acquired food poisoning and one member of our party felt so ill we were unable to finish the bottle of wine let alone our Walmart-grade fare. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this establishment. The fact that customers are expected to set and bus their own tables is unacceptable while also the expectation to excessively tip despite the lack of service only added insult to injury. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a pleasant experience. But, if you want to have a bad time, maybe on a date to see how your beloved handles infuriatingly poor experiences while exercising their emotional regulation skills, highly recommended! read more

5 Stars for a fab woman-owned wine shop in Gainesville with some great outdoor seating! I was able to visit Superette last time I was in Gainesville and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Inside you'll find a good selection of wines (many, if not all, are natural wines) as well as cheeses, meats, and a small marketplace of fancy pantry items. We weren't there to eat, but were able to get some bottles to share while there. The seating is outside, which during the FL summer may seem a bit intense, but a lot of it is covered. The outdoor seating set-up is also perfect for bringing a medium-sized group and enjoying an afternoon among nice plants with wine and nosh. There is a self-serve bus station for wine buckets, ice, glasses, etc. It's a bit odd, since each bottle comes with a $7 service fee (if you're drinking it there), but it wasn't a big deal for us. We didn't order any food, but judging by the photos, we missed out! Next time for sure. This is great spot for casual hangs with friends and some delicious wine! read more

I really hate to leave a low review on a local establishment. But I've been here multiple times and the experience is always the same. They simply seem to seat too many people for the capability of the restaurant. I will give my two latest experiences (within the past month). 1. Table of four in their limited "server" area (the rest of the tables have to order at their garden bar) Drinks took roughly 20-30 minutes per round. 2 of the 3 appetizers never came. Entrees came one at a time, roughly 20 minutes apart, and everyone was finished by the time I got mine. The first meal took over an hour to come out. I ordered mussels, which seemed simple with a butter garlic sauce, but it tasted like mussels in a thick, unflavored water. Very disappointed. 2. Table of 3 in the garden. The line for the garden bar was very long so a helpful server came to take a drink order from my friend and said he'd deliver it. 20 minutes later, no one has a drink and we walk inside to ask, no one has any idea what we're talking about. The garden bar line has disappeared by this time but we already had our order in. The charcuterie comes out (ordered well before drinks) but no one has drinks. First wine comes out. 15 minutes later, second drink comes out. 20 minutes later, the draft beer comes out. Yes, it took roughly an hour to get these drinks, and no one had liquor drinks. The server said there was only one bartender, but when we went inside, there was no one behind the bar. For the second round, I tried to order a draft that was at the garden beer to make it easier (no one was in line at this time, yay!) They were out of pint glasses. I understand they a re busy, but after the other experiences, I'm super frustrated. I get my draft beer about 15 minutes later. My two cents: hire servers for all tables and eliminate some tables if the kitchen cannot handle the capacity. Have more staff at the garden bar. If a table orders entrees at the same time, try not to have them come out more than 5-10 minutes apart. Pros: everyone is incredibly kind and tries to be helpful, the ambiance is beautiful, and I love a menu that highlights local and seasonal flavors. read more

While visiting a friend in Gainesville she mentioned she wanted to take me to Superette for some wine and cheese. Is there a better combo?? Of course I said let's go! I really enjoyed this place! It's super cute! You order at the bar inside and they give you a number to put on your table. They do have inside seating but the outdoor patio is adorable. If the weather permits, I would recommend outside. We went on a Saturday around 5pm and there were only about 4 other parties there. I was surprised to see it so slow, I would assume it picks up in the evening! For drinks, you can order from a select few wines if you want to go by the glass. But they have a very wide selection of wines you can purchase by the bottle! Since it was just me and my 1 friend (and we were planning to only stop by for a bit before heading to dinner) we opted for a wine by the glass. It was delicious! Even better than the wine was the food!! We got a cheese board to split and it was great. The food came out before quickly. The Gouda was our fav!! read more

My family and I visited this place after my engagement. It was about 20 of us and we all found seating and were served so quickly. What I really love about this place is the options for wine and charcuterie boards/desserts. We tried several wines that day. I think the highlight for me was a cheese that was a mix between creamy goat cheese with herbs. Visiting this place during the evening is the best. The vibe is so relaxed and definitely great for girls night or date night. read more

The Superette experience is one of perfection down to the tiniest details. The service is always lovely. Good service and ambiance no doubt. Food was also good. But pricing felt a little egregious for what you were getting. I mean the bottle of wine I got poured a cup of wine from, I know that bottle. It goes for $10.99 retail, and they probably got it wholesale for $6. That small cup of wine cup cost me $11. I also ordered a cocktail that cost $15 and it came in a can. I looked up the price of that can. It comes in a six pack for about $15, they probably got it wholesale for $8. That's a huge markup. I mean I get it. A business is meant to make money. And truthfully, if I didn't see the bottle the wine was poured from, or the can the cocktail came in, I would never even noticed. So that's my advice to you. Pour the drinks ahead of time, then serve it. Presentation is everything. read more

Excellent outdoor space with a well-curated wine list, tasty food, and very friendly staff. The saganaki appetizer was a stand-out.

Horrible food. The skewers that I ordered were overcooked and dry. It is too expensive to be self service. The portions were very small. We asked to be seated inside but they said tables were not available. They took us to the hot wooden tables with uncomfortable chairs. We were eating for 3 hours and the tables inside remained empty. there was no coke or Pepsi, horrible diet cola. Only good thing desert. read more

I'm happy that restaurants like Superette are open in Gainesville. I personally love a good wine and charcuterie board. This restaurant is a sort of "serve yourself" restaurant which is an interesting twist. The atmosphere outside is wonderful and and picturesque. Superette a has a great wine selection and one can find almost anything they would want. However, there is a $7 service fee added to each bottle. This is fine, except all they did was open the bottle at the counter and we brought it to the table after picking up our glasses. Now this may not be the case with other bottles or it may depend on something else. However, the fee in our experience was not justified. Their menu is limited, but it has good selection and you can most certainly find something the whole table will enjoy. They are also accommodating and can switch some items around (if you're vegetarian or vegan). The food tasted great and the cheese options are clearly carefully chosen. They will also help you find the best wine & cheese pair which is neat. One issue was the cleanliness of the plates and utensils. There was still leftover (stuck) cheese on one of the "clean" plates, and the forks still had previous unwashed residue on them. It's not a big deal because we just got another set but it made the experience less pleasant. Especially when it's self service. Additionally, the tables were not cleaned after the last patron had left so we had to do that ourselves. Overall: the food is great, wine selection is extensive, prices are reasonable, and the patio/atmosphere is wonderful. However, there are minor issues that made this particular experience not as enjoyable. I will give it 4 stars only because it is a new restaurant and I'm sure they are trying their best during these times. It's worth checking out and supporting. read more
