If you haven't tried Raise Your Glass Wine Bar & Food you need to. A unique wine bar experience. Thoughtful wine options, creative cuisine, combined with a welcoming vibe. Add this to your list. Gainesville got lucky here

The ambiance here is top tier. I attended one of the themed events and found my people!! The wine was great. The food was amazing. The owner was present and paid close enough attention to my order that she even introduced me to another patron with the same order! It was great conversation with a like minded person. Amazing time. I can't wait for the next.

Wow! What an amazing find! We went out for a late lunch on Sunday and found this wine bar with incredible tapas. It was a quiet, classy place with good service. We enjoyed the roasted red pepper hummus with both pita and chips and the caprese bruschetta, along with two different glasses of Merlot.

This place I had high hopes but maybe I have to try it out again; first off I came in and I was given weird looks and vibes by people while waiting on a friend and then once she arrived-there was a wait and they shortly after it seemed like one of the owners then came by us to assist. She was very nice and knowledgeable but I felt like the staff seemed more helpful helping those who reserved a table for a group or those that were already there prior to us arriving. I would definitely try it again but as of know it wouldn't be my first choice to go to. The wine we tried (red one, forgot the name but it was a sweet one) it was good. We didn't eat anything from here, they have a limited menu but we were told the food pairs with the wine. The food menu looked good and what came out from the kitchen made me want to come back and get the entire experience. Anyhow definitely something cool to experience on the other side of town.

Ambiance needs work. Both outside and inside looks like they aren't open yet but they are. They really need to clean up their act.

Definitely glad we did, because I'd highly recommend getting a reservation here. We went on a Saturday around noon and found out they do a buffet brunch until 3pm. I wasn't expecting that at all, but it ended up being awesome. The shrimp and grits were amazing. I don't know what they put in those grits, but they were seriously scrumptious. The chicken wings and sliders were also really good. The place itself is really nice and well put together. Our server was good too and even gave us some recommendations for breweries in the area, which was appreciated. Overall, great food, great service, and a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.

The lobster bisque is the best I've ever had. The house salad is yummy with the garbanzo beans, pepitas and vinaigrette dressing. The pork chop is unbelievable. The glaze in the carrots that accompany the pork chop are incredible. I ordered the Cobb salad with grilled shrimp and it was delicious. Service is always on point and the entire staff is always so friendly. The inside is like an upscale sports bar meets a nice restaurant with the coach's memorabilia throughout the space as well as a podcast room in the middle of the restaurant. If you are lucky, you might even get to see coach while you are there!

Absolutely worth going off the beaten path for…read more We stumbled across Public & General while looking for somewhere in Gainesville with good vegetarian options, and the first thing that caught my attention was the fried green tomato sandwich. I saw that on the menu and immediately thought, "Yep. We're going there." And I'm so glad we did. The only thing I would change about the experience is the ordering process. You have to place your order at the bar first, take a number, and then seat yourself so they know where to bring your food. Personally, I would prefer traditional table service, but once we got past that, the food completely won me over. We ordered the fried green tomato sandwich, and it was delicious. Then there were the dill fries. Fresh dill on French fries sounded interesting enough that we had to try them, and they were AMAZING. Such a simple idea, but different from the usual fries you get everywhere else and executed really well. But the biggest surprise of the entire meal? THE COUSCOUS. My partner ordered the vegetable couscous with mushrooms, zucchini and squash, and when I tell you this was the best couscous I have ever had... I mean it. It was so good that before we left, we ordered another one to go. That alone should tell you everything. I love finding restaurants that take familiar ingredients and do something memorable with them. Nothing we had felt boring or like an afterthought, especially the vegetarian options. Public & General feels like one of those neighborhood places you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but now that we know about it, it has officially made our Gainesville rotation. We don't get to Gainesville often, but anytime we're back in town, we're stopping here. Fried green tomato sandwich: Dill fries: Vegetable couscous: Seriously... get the couscous. We literally took another order home.
