Decent salon overall, but my experience had a few rough edges. The haircut itself was fine, but the stylist wasn't very warm or engaging -- not rude, just indifferent. For $32 a men's cut, you'd at least expect the basics. The biggest miss was at the end: no one blew off the loose hair clippings from my head and neck. Didn't offer, didn't do it -- just finished and moved on. The moment I put my cap on walking out, it was a mess inside. I wish I had taken photos. I needed a haircut fast and I wasn't in the mood to go to My fancy place. I arrived last Tuesday and was greeted by the lovely Susie on a Tuesday. There were people ahead of me so she took my name and I went to Trader Joe's. When I got back she was ready to take me. We chatted and she was so great! Everyone knows Peter at Salon Trenza is my hair soulmate, BUT Peter is about 20 "LA"miles away. For the rest of the US, 20 "LA" miles can be 30 minutes to 2 hours. I LUV the little plaza in which the shop is located. I'm a regular at the nail salon and dry cleaner next door. There's also a florist, coder school, comic shop, Hawaiian BBQ, and bike store. If I am hitting up the nail salon and dry cleaners and am in need of a clean up, I either -pop in, or -check in on the app. It's uber-convenient. They can get BUSY, so the chances of a wait or having to schedule later do exist. Especially true since they closed their South Pasadena location. Unless you don't mind a possible wait, definitely check before you go. Veronica is THE Absolute Bomba, but she usually works at the Eagle Rock location. I see Ara and Christina at this location. I know they do color and a few other things, but I've only visited for cuts. I posted a 9/2023 pic of the service board and pricing. Go get pretty! read more

When they do not respect time, it's not good, they do not know how to manage the time, I've been coming to this place for over 5 years. Had an appointment this morning at 10:40, arrived at 10:15, when it was my turn they took a lady that walked in 20 minutes after me, I'm very disappointed an I will never come back to this place ever. read more

We begin on a positive note: Ara is a brilliant hairstylist with world-class talent. On this visit, however, the Arroyo Supercuts was dismal. With Pasadena temperatures hovering above 90 degrees, the air conditioning was inexplicably turned down. Instead, noisy fans blasted heat and tendrils of hair. The lights were barely on, casting gloomy shadows over a sorrowful scene. Because cutters had been double booked, customers were irritated. Prices have been raised. There are no more senior discounts. Unknown substitutions have replaced previously available color products. It appears that the Pasadena Supercuts in Arroyo is under new ownership. I asked for a specific haircut for my child but the hairdresser only cut the bang. The rest of the hair they only brushed with wet hair brush which made it look like that they also cut the back. However when the hair dried off we saw that only bang was cut. We paid $27. Today I had an awful quality hair cut. I brought a photo of what I wanted and I got a very different look and length. It looks like a very short men's style. I would recommend women not to use the deaf gentleman since I have seen him give more adequate men's cuts in the past but never a woman's cut. Racially discriminated. I usually come to Supercuts when my regular barber isn't available. My first time at this location I called in first to see if they have availability and experience with thick course hair, the answered saying she can help me. I came in here and explained what I wanted and she cut all hair around at a zero. I look awful. They attempted to clean up my beard and left me looking botched. I'm completely embarrassed. The male barber that was "in charge" said " WE DONT DO YOUR PEOPLE'S HAIR". That comment hurt me. It made me feel less than. I can't believe businesses can hurt you. I will never come back to the establishment again. I asked for corporate information and they all said they didn't know. They refused to provide me the corporations number. I'm so upset. This location is the best, super walkable from where I live and very accommodating. I always get in within 15min, I don't mind the wait at all as it's a nice lobby area. Just had the worst haircut of my life. I have African-American hair that's very curly. I wanted a simple trim and the guy who cut my hair could not have done worse or been ruder. He looked annoyed that I even sat in his chair which I'm guessing is because I don't have a fine hair texture. He immediately started picking out my hair which is the LAST thing you do w textured hair as you'll ruin the curl pattern. I asked him what he was doing and he snapped at me. At this point the damage was done and I had to let him finish. I was trying my best not to cry right there on the spot. After he finished ruining my hair he still looked annoyed and he looked happy to get me out of there. Now full disclosure there are 2 women hairstylists at this location and they are so sweet and lovely. Go to them, ESPECIALLY if you have textured/curly hair. My hair is ruined and I will have to shave it off. I hope they seriously talk to this guy bcuz his customer service is horrific and he just lost them a repeat customer. read more

Avoid this Super Cuts if you can. The staff is rude. I used to use this location for a wash and cut when one of the former stylists was still on staff. After she left, I made an appointment with the head stylist (who is also the manager and possibly the owner). She was a bully who took it very personally when I asked her to only trim a little off of my long hair. I made the request respectfully. From that point on, the stylist presented a nasty attitude, making sure to tell me "she was a professional." Her attitude was so bad for the remainder of the cut that I considered getting up and leaving before the cut was finished. Poor customer service, aggressive attitude, terrible visit that I still think about sometimes because it was so bad. Stay away from this place. read more

I got my first haircut since quarantine, this afternoon. They are open five days a week and I was told they open at 10 am weekdays and 9 am weekends. You NEED to make a reservation and wear a mask while getting your haircut. They will ask you how you are feeling, if you have recently traveled out of the area, and then take your temperature. The stylist sanitized the clipper head thoroughly and I was given a fresh apron (they are not reused, they are sanitized/laundered after each use). They completely sanitize each seat and foot pedestal after each use. All in all, I felt that they took every precaution possible to provide a sanitary hair cutting experience. I was a little shocked to pay $25 for just a haircut (think I usually pay about $18 at Great Clips), but tipped my stylist $20 for stepping up and coming back to work. read more

She was friendly and approachable but also made personal comments about my spouse and my son that were not appropriate for a client/service provider relationship. I've exchanged my precious treasure in return for a haircut at a fair few Supercuts and this particular location won my return business. The shop was new, super clean and offered my first experience of a massage chair whilst having hair washed at a Supercuts location. My decision to return in future was cemented by a specific stylist named Bonita. Bonita has a very polite and gentle manner about her and the care she takes when styling hair was on full display at each step of process. I would at this point like to thank and commend this Supercut's owner for hiring, training and retaining Bonita. Well done you! I would also like Bonita to note that I will fight to be her first paying customer should she ever decide to strike out on her own. I will return. read more

This is the second and last time my son will get his hair cut here. Both times he had Armando, who went completely off course from the requests made by my son and husband to trim only the sides and back and leave the top untouched, instead cutting over an inch from the top and leaving the sides and back unusually and unevenly long. Son is mortified and rightfully so, has school pictures tomorrow and already looking into make up photo day to hopefully grow out the mess made by Armando. Do not recommend. Stay far away. read more

My 4-star is for the hairdresser only, since she did a great job. The place itself (service and general help) is typically a 1 or 2 star. This store is very hit or miss and depends entirely on the hairdresser you get. The manager is absolutely awful in personality, so stay far from her, but otherwise roll the dice and hope you get someone with talent. I got Mina (I'm about 20 years younger than her and thought for sure she wouldn't know current styles) and yet she was excellent. Honestly, she did the best job I've had in probably the past 10 years. I feel amazing, thanks to her cut. She was great and so nice. Disappointed. I walked into an appointment, they got my name but didn't ask what kind of service I wanted. When they sat me down I asked for a color and cut... the stylists looked surprised and said ok. Midway through my haircut they said they didn't have enough time for a color, which was the main reason I came in to begin with. Super infuriating. Bad time management. They said to call back during the week but the whole point I came in on a Sunday is because I work during the week. Only reason I went because all other salons were closed today. They say they take walk ins but that is not entirely true. They don't seem to quote you a time, instead the woman I spoke to said it depends on the appointments if they would be able to take us or how long it would be. She made it seem like they might not be able to take us but we could wait. I told her that I just need to know, yes or no. She said yes, we can take you. We sat to wait and a little bit later she came back to say that no they can't take us and that we could come back and hour and a half later. It was very frustrating to hear when I asked her specifically to tell me yes or no and she said yes. No idea if they give good haircuts but their customer service is less than ideal. I always knew walking in to a place like this could mean a wait to be seen, but to be told to wait and then told, never mind is a pretty ridiculous way to handle your customers. read more

I've been to countless salons all over the Pasadena/Glendale/Burbank area and no one does as great of a job as Sharyl. Until meeting her, I'd get a pit in my stomach as I watched the hairstylist cut knowing it's not what I wanted.
