Aside from the long wait in line, everything was great! Staff is very friendly. Pastries (not sure if they rotate) are brought in from Bread and Cie in Hillcrest. Came here straight from the airport to grab some coffee and see the views! Parking was super easy to find. There was a long line to order, which stayed constantly long the whole time so it's definitely a popular place! They have tons of tables and seating available but since we happened to come on a hot day, all the tables in the shade were taken for a while so we just had to wait to grab one. The cafe is surrounded by a lot of greenery though so it's a great place to just bring a picnic blanket and watch the jet ski riders. There is even a playground down the hill by the basketball court to keep the kids busy. It took about 10-15 minutes in line and another 10 minutes to get our drinks. The breakfast bagel took the longest for another 15 minutes. It was a good bagel but not worth the wait. Luckily we munched on the lemon cream biscuit while waiting. The sweet lemon cream was so delicious, like a creamy custard! The menu said a berry compote but it was actually just a few blueberries thrown in there, so that's the only thing I'd want improvement on. The coffee drinks were tasty though! Loved all the options for seasonal and specialty lattes. The Fluffernutter is described as peanut butter, banana and chocolate but the main flavor profile was peanut butter. It was a yummy drink but just wish it had more banana! The Island Bliss was a coconut chocolate flavor. I had to ask for whipped cream since it didn't have any and they seemed like they didn't know that's what it said on the menu. The whipped cream definitely made it taste better and creamier though! Overall we enjoyed our visit here, and would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting San Diego so you can take advantage of the nice views that you can't just get any other standard coffeehouse! read more

Superbloom is definitely the most scenic coffee shop in San Diego. The ambience and view of the bay are unparalleled. The coffee is fine, and I appreciate that they cater to the picky eaters/drinkers among us (lots of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan things). Parking is great when it's not prime beach season. However... this is definitely not service with a smile. In my many experiences here, the employees seem incredibly upset with, well, I don't know what. They are never happy. Not even mildly so. Maybe they are understaffed? Maybe the weather is too hot? Maybe they are upset that they have to share one bathroom with every patron onsite and there is always a line for it? I don't know. Joined a social networking group walk that wrapped up at this spot, which I heard about from multiple networking and meetup groups (seems to be a popular gathering place). There is a decent amount of free parking and it's convenient location wise, right off the freeway. It's got a nice minimalist aesthetic with a black and white decor and only outdoor seating overlooking the water and the green. The menu is plentiful, with a mix of options for a variety of dietary restrictions. The wait, however, is unbelievable. We were in line for a solid hour, no exaggeration. Was it worth it? I can't speak to the food, but the vanilla latte was fine. Anyone who ordered food said it was decent as well -- most were just hungry after an early morning walk. I will say each of their dishes arrived relatively quickly after ordering and had a good presentation. I would be open to coming back, but not on a weekend, although I am not sure if this is just how crowded it always is. The trail along Mission Bay is one of my favorite scenic walks. I've only been in the morning but they have wine in the afternoon, I believe. Usually, I get one of their seasonal lattes and the avocado toast, and it always feels like a treat. Beware the line can get VERY long, so be patient and soak up the beautiful surroundings as you wait. There's plenty of outdoor seating and a restroom onsite. I don't know how I am just finding out about Superbloom, but I intend to be here often. My friend opted to hold her birthday here and we were very happy that it ended up being a sunny and 70 degree December Saturday. The outdoor seating area was just perfect for the 8 of us to have a girl's day out and enjoy the bay view and sunshine. While the cafe menu was small, it had just enough that I think there's probably something for everyone, though they definitely specialize more in being a coffee shop as their drink menu was pretty robust. I opted to try the turkey provolone panini and it was pretty good. I especially liked that the outdoor seating area was very dog friendly. My husband and I just moved to the Bay Park neighborhood, so we are literally 7 minutes from Superbloom. I imagine we will be coming here with the pups often on beautiful days. read more

Beautiful location. Lots of tables/chairs with umbrellas. The cappuccinos are excellent, BUT - the service is extremely slow. They have at least 3 people working but they are in no rush to take your order or get it done. The lines are always long unless you get there before 8:30 am. The servers have an "I don't care attitude" every time I come here. So sad because if they were friendly to old people, who have money, they would get more tips. Also there is a 2.5% service charge and a 3% credit card charge for their expensive drinks. You pay for living in paradise. read more

I've driven by so many times and am happy that I was finally able to check it out! First off, it's in a convenient location pretty much right off the freeway and in the middle of Mission Bay and it's hard to miss with its tall steeple. There is parking but all are marked as 1-hr parking although I'm not sure how strict they are about that. As you walk up, it's a cute outdoor area with seating, the coffee counter and wine shop in the indoor area. They really decorated it well with lots of flowers, wall succulents and different colors that made it welcoming. Their menu was pretty diverse and I especially liked the seasonal and specialty drinks. I ended up ordering the Spirit of Aloha latte. It was very good and not too sweet and the macadamia nut flavors were just the right potency. I also ordered the chocolate chip cookie warmed up and it was delicious! As for the other food, I will have to save that for another visit. Service here is pretty quick and the ladies at the counter were nice and gave some recommendations. The drinks themselves were made rather quickly and we were able to enjoy our afternoon hanging out on the patio with lovely views of the bay. Lastly, I was happy to discover they have happy hour here M-F from 4pm-close for $2 off beer/wine and free corkage from the bottle shop. Great idea to have a bottle shop here with options for wine tasting. I also noticed they have yoga on different days and hope to check that out soon. I'm soo glad they were out because I ended up getting the turkey cranberry Brie sandwich. And wow. I was not expecting it to be that good. As well, the bartender on Sat, the 12th, this young kid that doesn't smile, acts like he's miserable and hates being there, is awful.
