2 years ago I told my daughter for a checkup and consultation for braces. The doctor said he would not do treatment on my daughter until she took her tonsils out and he also misdiagnosed a cavity. Of course I went for a second option somewhere else and I was told otherwise. Another Orthodontist in Burbank (Brenn Orthodontist) took an X-ray and co firm that there was no cavity and she didn't need to take out her tonsils. I have been meaning to write this review for a while now. I am completely amazed of the professionalism for the staff of Superb Dental Care. This dental office is completely high tech with screen explanations of the X-rays and treatments. Every step of the way the Doctor explained what is to be expected and what's coming next. Staff also explains how the dental plan you have works and what is expected on deductibles and prior authorizations from the plan and the expectancy of the insurance getting back with the patient. This place is fantastic. So glad we found them as we have been scammed by I don't know how many dentists and we love their approach. They give info, options, and recommendations but no high pressure push which I cannot stand. They've helped us fix more than one cracked tooth in the family, fix crowns, and do regular cleanings. I am not a huge fan of going to the dentist - don't know too many folks that are. But since I've been unable to get my teeth cleaned for two years due to undergoing two major surgeries and because of COVID-19 lock-down. When I got the reminder calls from Dr. Barbon's office to come in for an annual cleaning/xrays I mustered up the courage to go in for a real cleaning. I was super nervous as I have major anxiety issues, but the staff, Dr. Barbon, the manager, and their exceptional dental hygienist (sorry, forgot her name) were extremely helpful and patient with me and my anxieties regarding my treatment. The dental hygienist was extremely calming and went at my pace to complete the required services. She was empathetic, funny, and has the patience of a saint. The manger was also super understanding and worked with me to resolve any concerns, questions, or issues I had. I really appreciate the team that works here. I had been holding off dental care for about a year because the last dental office I went to was a nightmare, however, when I got a pain on one of my teeth, I knew it was time for a visit. Stumbled across the Superb Dental Care office and they had me come in for an appointment the same week I called. The office made sure I understood my insurance situation and all billing information so that was helpful. When I got my exam and cleaning done by Dr. Barbon, he went out of his way to explain everything to me so I felt knowledgable on my teeth. The pain felt in my mouth required a root canal and as it was my first one and everyone told me how bad they are so I was pretty nervous. I am torn with this one! I read all the positive reviews others had written about this dental office and thought I would give it a try. I've listed some pros and cons to provide an overview and give you an idea of why I gave 2/5 stars. Pros: 1. Easy to get to and locate inside a small shopping plaza. 2. Office itself is in spectacular condition! Very clean and up to date. Each room has a small television to help pass the time and keep patients entertained. 3. Staff are friendly. Cons: 1. Long wait! I nearly watched half of a movie while waiting for my turn. 2. When it was finally my turn Dr. Barbon hardly gave me a chance to ask questions or even say anything for that matter. He would start talking over me and wouldn't let me get a word out. 3. Dr. Barbon, as nice as he appears, is trying desperately to juggle between patients. He rushed our entire appointment and left me with the assistants. I asked him about my wisdom teeth and he said he would check them out another time and rushed to leave! WHO DOES THAT? I was there for a general check-up on the status of my teeth. I had a wisdom tooth protruding and he didn't even mention it! I had to. 4. Did I mention my visit with the dentist was rushed? That really bothered me! I was there for nearly 1 hour but only saw the dentist for 10 minutes or less! 5. Dr. Barbon has an accent and was a little difficult to understand. He seemed to have a hard time explaining things and just rushed through his comments. 6. Prices are steep even after insurance. 7. It felt impersonal since everything was rushed. read more

This dental office tries to max out your insurance and make you feel like you're getting a deal by saying they're not going to charge you out of pocket to do work on your teeth that you do not need. They have a lot of "deals" and "free services" that are NOT free because they charge your insurance. I came in and they told me I had 12 cavities (never had a cavity before in my life) and then tried to prove it to me by showing me pictures of coffee stains on my teeth and saying they are cavities. I went to another dentist and as I expected, had no cavities! Just a few coffee stains that they polished off in less than 2 minutes. My appointment was later in the day and they were waaay off schedule. I arrived at 3:15 for a 3:30 appointment and didn't get out until 6:00. Who wants to go to the dentist? I know I don't. At least before I met Dr. Barbon. As Mika B. said in her review, he IS very gentle. I've been with a bunch of dentists before and most of them have really heavy hands, making every trip a not-so-pleasant experience. Going for just cleaning made it seem like I was there for a root canal. But with Superb Dental, I'm always on time with my scheduled cleaning simply because Dr. Barbon does it with ease. You REALLY won't feel a sting. I haven't had a bad experience with the receptionist. But I can't say I have had a good experience as well. I guess it's because I just don't mind or care for them so much. I'm there to have something done to my teeth, not chat with the receptionist. So I'd just usually check in and play with my apps on my phone or something until I'm called. The dental office is pretty new and so you can expect that the equipment and dental supplies are very current. It is conveniently located inside a plaza, so you won't have to circle around the location more than once to find parking. Superb Dental lives up to its name. The equation is pretty simple: dentist that knows what he's doing + nice dental office = superb experience! So if you... - have been pondering about switching dentists because you are unhappy with your current one - live in the Pasadena area or neighboring cities - live far from Pasadena but are willing to commute ...do yourself a favor and pick-up the phone or go online and switch to Superb Dental for your next dental appointment. This place is great! As soon as you walk in to Dr. Barbon's office, you can already tell that the place is very clean and very well maintained (first impressions count!). The receptionist welcomed me with a smile and asked me how my day was going. The receptionist and the rest of the staff are really friendly and personable. I brought a book with me just in case I have to wait, but they called me in right away. I did not have to wait! And I really like that. Dr. Barbon was awesome! Since I use to be a Registered Dental Assistant for many years, I've been very picky when it comes to finding a new dental practice. Let me tell you what matters when deciding on a dentist: 1) Office is impeccably clean. And I mean very sanitary. --- I don't know about you, but this is at the top of my list specially since I have 2 young children that contamination issue, is a big deal. 2) Dentist and staff are professional, but yet "caring". --- We all know that business is business. This is actually important specially if you want to know directly what type of treatment is needed and which is a priority. This applies to whether you are a person that has insurance or not. "Caring" comes when the practice provide you with a detailed "game plan" from now to the future (if you want to keep that beautiful smile, you better have a permanent dentist that keeps you on check with your follow up visits). A plus, if you have a family, they too have their own "game plan". 3) Dentist have gentle hands. --- I don't care if you're Mr. Muscle Man or a cry baby, no one wants to feel pain. A must is when to know how long the dentist is spending time with you on a particular treatment. Yeah, my background helps, but a couple of no brainer examples: i. Giving anesthetic (aka injections/shots), dentist takes his/her time. I don't care how many years of experience you have as a dentist; if you inject those lidocaine very quickly into someone's narrow vein, it will hurt! ii. If the dentist is filling a cavity, he/she better be fast, but precise. You don't want a dentist lingering and spending hours on one tooth for a simple filling. Too much time might be because he/she is redoing or second guessing his/her work. Bottom line? Superb Dental is IT! Dr. Barbon and his staff are everything that you should expect. The office is modern, but warm. The staff is the same; warm, kind, and friendly. The dentist is professional and cares about his patients. I first came to Dr Barbon after having an extremely painful tooth ache that shot up to my head. It kept me up all night. Dr Barbon's staff was able to work with me and get me in to see the Dr. I switched to Dr. Barbon from another dentist who had worked on the same tooth five months prior and I wanted to get a second opinion because my former dentist had outdated equipments and an outdated facility. Dr. Barbon's office is new and fresh. He has modern equipments and you can even watch a movie while getting your teeth worked on. The doctor is very gentle and I hardly felt anything when he injected the novacain. Both of the ladies that work at the facility are also very sweet and competent. I'm impressed with what Jocelyn, the dental assistant's knowledge. She knows a lot more than any dental assistants I've ever seen in my life. This means that she has a great mentor who is dedicated to the success of his staff and his practice. I recommend anyone who is looking for a new dentist to visit Superb Dental. It's been about 4 years since I last had dental treatment with Dr Barbon. I've been going to his office for about 3 years. I had moved out of the Pasadena area to about 30 miles away and had to find treatment elsewhere. I've been to many other dentists since and I have to say I'm missing the quality and workmanship that Dr Barbon's dental practice provides. It is truly night and day with other dental providers. I am almost 40 years old and I've had my share of dentists in the military and with civilians. Dr. Barbon is hands down the best dentist I've ever had. When you are in his office they make you feel like your family. Dr Barbon and his staffs bedside manner is top notch. He takes the time to make you feel at ease before treatment compared to other dentists. They check your vitals before treatment, many other dental practices don't do this. Which they should if they care for your well being. They use dental dams so your not chocking on water during treatment. Bite blocks are offered as well if your jaw gets tired. His equipment is modern not like many of the other offices I've been too. I have not met any other dental practices that has its own 3d printer. His modern and up to date equipment speeds up the time of being able to get back to regular life after having something going on with your teeth. He doesn't just patch you up and let's you leave like these other dentist. He makes sure you are good to go and make your teeth feel normal and smooth not feeling rough like there's left over composites. This review is overdue and I'm writing this due my displeasure of other dental practices. He makes your teeth as natural looking as he can, color tone and everything. I'm so ready to go back. Nothing compares Superb Dental care. I'll be coming back to this office even if it is 30 miles away. Dr. Barbon and the staff here are amazing, everyone of them. Quality dental work is never cheap and dental visits are never desired unless you're nuts, but when you see the quality of workmanship and the treatment you receive from Dr. Barbon's office, it justifies depleting my HSA. I decided that this is the year that I'm going to do me, no more putting other people and work in front of my health and appearance. In the past, I've gone to Dr. Barbon for root canal/crown installation and teeth whitening. This time around, I'm repairing a fracture, installing a crown, replacing fillings, and getting veneers. A free teeth whitening was included with my procedure. This office has obtained new technology over the last few years that I've been absent and they can now create your new crown right in their office.
