I went here to have my wedding dress tailored one week before the wedding (note: it was a cocktail dress, not a traditional wedding dress), and suffice it to say that I was stressed and in need of a good tailor. These women did a wonderful job. They had great judgment about what aspects of the dress needed improving, and they got it done perfectly and on time. Such a relief. I also went here to have an elaborate beaded evening gown tailored, and they once again exceeded expectations. The final fit was perfect, and they delicately sewed the beads back on so that it kept the original pattern. It wasn't cheap, but I could trust them to get it done right when the stakes were high. Finally, I asked them to tailor a dress for me that I bought online and was non-returnable. The dress turned out to be a couple of sizes too big, and I thought they might be able to work their magic on it. They had me try it on, and after some pinning and fussing, they were able to honestly tell me that the tailoring wouldn't be cheap and it wouldn't look very good in the end. I came here to get my wedding dress altered. I am very petite and needed about 5 inches taken off of the bottom of my dress, and needed to have it taken in. I was worried because there was a lot of delicate lace around the bottom of my dress, and I wanted to keep the overall look of the dress the same. Misook took grate care with my dress and made sure the keep the lace in tact. We met several times so I could try on the dress and make sure everything was fitting right. Misook added several hook and eyes to the back, as well as needed to put a stitch through the lace, which you can't even see because she did such a great job! The lace at the bottom of the dress looked perfect, and you couldn't even tell it had been altered. The dress turned out beautifully. She truly has a talent! I definitely recommend this shop for wedding dress alterations, but do make sure to give them plenty of time to get the job done, since it is a small business. read more

This might actually be my first Yelp review but I could not let the opportunity to praise Superb Custom Tailors for their excellent service that has gone above and beyond the call of duty. After noticing a stain on my wedding suit while getting measured for tailoring, they offered to do a rush order at no extra charge on the suit jacket so I could get it dry cleaned quickly. When I came to pick the jacket up, they had also taken care of my slacks. Everything fit perfectly and I was able to get the entire suit to the dry cleaners far sooner than I had been planning. This place was a breath of fresh air after not finding a reliable tailor in the Queen Anne/Magnolia area. I came in with about 15 casual dress shirts and a few pairs of jeans that had been in my car for over 6 months due to lack of ability to find a tailor i was willing to try. Once I found Superb Custom Tailor, I knew I was in luck. THe pricing is a bit higher than some of the other tailors in the area, but its worth it. They explained why they were making the adjustments in every individual shirt and were open to my feedback & questions. I am very particular about how my shirts are tailored, and with each shirt they explained how my requests might affect the outcome. I love this place. Being short, and I'm talking 5'0, EVERYTHING has to be hemmed. It took me a while to find a good one in Seattle, but now that I've found these ladies, I'm always coming here. They are very friendly, and their prices are not so unexpected. A regular hem on a pair of jeans is about $14. They match the threads perfectly--and when they are pricey, hipster jeans (that you got at a discount shop), you don't want some Kmart-style hem going on. read more

I took my bridesmaid dress in because it was 3 sizes too big. There's only 2 tailors available and they were helping 2 customers at that time. They had me waiting for almost an hour and when they finally got to me I was rushed out after the fitting. Not to mention that the dammmned alteration cost more than the freakin dress. I don't know how many ways I can say "EXTRAORDINARY" in describing my experience at "Superb Custom Tailors"! I came to Misook in February of this year with nothing more than a photo of a wedding dress I loved and asked if she would consider making it for my upcoming wedding on 4/22/17. She knew it would be an enormous task and she had only two months to work with, but she agreed to do so. From that moment on, she never ceased to amaze me with her brilliance as a seamstress and her warmth and kindness as a person. She made the pattern for the dress based simply from that one photo and my measurements. The end result was a STUNNING dress with every detail attended to with perfection, and I felt SO elegant and special wearing it on my wedding day. My husband didn't see the dress until I was walking down the aisle and he too was completely blown away by just how EXQUISITE it was! I dropped off a windbreaker jacket to be tailored. The woman was very helpful in suggesting things that could be done to improve the fit. After she made the fittings she told me it would take 2 1/2 weeks to complete. I was able to get it down to 2 weeks (which is still longer than I've waited for a tailor). She said she would call me with a quote. I never received a call so I showed up on the scheduled day to pick it up. The job was completed but I was hit with a $120.00 bill. She explained that it was a lot of work and that when she was doing the work, it was too late to call me. This is understandable, though I would of preferred we pushed it back a day so she could talk to me about the price. I would have bought a new jacket... She did do a great job on the work, so that's a plus. I've been to many tailors (this is the first one I tried in Seattle) and I would rate this experience rather poor to what I've been spoiled with. This place is incredible. I took in a Luly Yang wedding dress that I was very nervous about having altered. The alterations I needed to have done were very big but they did a FABULOUS job. The two women truly understood how much this dress meant to me and they did a fantastic job executing the changes. It wasn't an easy job because, in simple terms, the dress needed to be completely taken apart and sewn together again. The beading on the dress was connected to the seams so they even undid the beading by hand and then put it back together. They also trimmed the hem and added a gorgeous three tier bustle to the dress with clips that stayed hidden in the seams. In addition to this there were so many tiny little edits that bad to be made to all the alters underneath as well. But they did an AMAZING job. If you ever have a dress or something that you worry about, take it to this place!!! They did an amazing job that when I put on my dress for the last fitting I teared up a bit. Get the estimate in writing first and consider how much time it will take for your alteration to be done at this establishment. I used Yelp to find a quality tailor to alter a wedding dress (that I had found for a steal but needed shortening and other alterations.) I wanted to have the lace insert removed on the backless dress, and requested that the alterations be pushed up since I found the dress late in the game. It took two to three weeks (days before the wedding) and when I went to pick it up, the tailor hadn't removed the lace (or notified me that she wouldn't be doing this) and then charged me $200. read more

Brought my new denim for tailoring to Superb Custom Tailors. Picked it up and it reeked of moth balls. At home I looked smell removal, nothing has worked. I took the denim back to the cleaners. The owner told me that there was no proof that my denim came into contact with mothball treated clothing at her store. She even asked 3 strangers passing on the street to see if they could identify the odor of my denim!?! The owner claimed the odor was chemical of new denim. It was not. She said only new clothes were worked on during the four day period my denim were in the pile to be hemmed and that if moth balls had been used on any clothing in her store that she would have smelled it and that this could not have happened at her store. Excuses! There is no way she could be so sure about the hundreds of clothing items in her shop over a four day period. I however am 100% sure about my one pair of new denim pants and what moth balls smell like. Sick to my stomach. read more

I had been looking for a skilled tailor to alter/hem several pairs of suit pants, dress jeans and skirts. I went in without an appointment on a Tuesday afternoon and was greeted warmly by one of the owners. Over the next 20 minutes, she took great care to ensure I was comfortable with the feel of the clothes and was also careful when chalking and pinning my clothes. With seven pieces, I assumed it would be at least 2 weeks before I could return, but to my surprise, I was able to pick up everything the following Wednesday - just one week! In addition, I found their pricing to be very fair, especially when I saw the flawless work. One other important note is how incredibly clean their shop is. I didn't detect one dust bunny or other debris on the white tile floor - and I was looking! This made me feel even more comfortable that my clothes would be well taken care of. I bought 2 pairs of curtains from Ikea, cost me like total 50 bucks. Brought them to Superb Custom Tailors to get them trimmed. When I brought them in, the Korean lady said it will be around 20 bucks, I thought this was for all and thought the price is acceptable. 7 days later, when I picked them up, the same Korean lady that works there said because they were too heavy so she couldn't press them. I said it was fine. And then she told me it will be 88 dollars for all of them. I was shocked! I wish they made it clear or write the total amount on the receipt or something. When I handed the Korean lady my credit card, she immediately asked me if I'm Korean. I said no, I'm actually Chinese. And she said "it doesn't matter if you are Korean, or Hongkongnese, or Japanese, or Chinese, when you hand me stuff you should use both hands." I thought Misook was very helpful, prompt in her communication, and skilled in her trade. She made a number of alterations to my wedding dress, including a very complex hem that probably took very many hours due to the layering of netting on the dress. She was able to work with the boning of the dress to take it in, sew in supports, add a little shaping and remove a number of layers of tulle. The work was a big job and she had to postpone dress pick up once, though it was easy to stay in contact with her and she went out of her way at the end to make sure I was able to pick up my dress with more than enough time before the wedding. I think for the amount of work she did the cost was probably more than fair and her work looked great! read more

They really are "superb"! I had straps on a bridesmaids dress shortened and when I tried it on, the dress rode too high under my armpits. Misook is a lifesaver! My husband is Chinese and so his mother bought me a qipao from Shanghai to wear for part of our wedding festivities. I am a corpulent woman of Northern European descent, so even the largest of Asian sizes didn't quite fit my body. I brought the top of the qipao in to Misook, and over the course of a month she took out seams and retailored the top to fit perfectly. She even added additional closures so that the top stayed secure throughout the night. Misook's ingenuity throughout this process and all the problems involved was amazing, and I found her pricing to be reasonable given the amount of work she had done. I first found this business through a referral from a friend after her wedding, and I had had some small alterations done there before, but I will DEFINITELY be back for all of my tailoring needs in the future! read more

Scam artists. AVOID this place like the plague. They charged me $46 to sew patches on my 6 year old's cub scout shirt. !!!! I called first to determine if they would sew on patches, then described the job and I asked how much it would cost. I was told $8-10. I dropped off the shirt and the patches with clear instructions. When I went to pick up the shirt, the patches weren't exactly where I instructed and the ticket said $46. WHAT?!!! She told me that it took an hour to sew on the patches and they charge $60 an hour and they were giving me a discount. An hour? Are you kidding me? An hour for a business that calls themselves a tailor? Scam artists. So I was stuck, my little boy needed his shirt for his scout meeting, so I couldn't exactly tell them to stick it and leave the shirt. Though I'd have to say, I was tempted to throw a ten dollar bill on the counter and run. I didn't. But I probably should have. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. THEY ARE SCAMMERS. read more

Extremely disappointed after receiving 2 recommendations from friends. Took in a VERY expensive brand new lace and beaded dress to have it taken in just a bit on the sides under the arm. While the workmanship was great, the work made the dress way too tight and made it pucker in the front near the armholes. When I pointed it out, the seamstress insisted it was "fine." But is only "fine" when I am not moving and standing straight as a board. Otherwise it is NOT fine. She did not factor any movement into the job. I brought in a trench coat to have shortened. The woman was pleasant and helpful. The coat was ready in a week and a half and the job was excellent, they matched the factory hem exactly. To be clear, the work was excellent. I had a difficult wedding dress alteration. However, the alteration cost almost as much as my dress! As others have noted, I would get an estimate in writing. (Which we did, but it ended up being more expensive.) If you have something very difficult and important, maybe you are willing to pay the extra money. I do not exactly regret going here, as my wedding dress was beautiful in the end, but I would never go for anything less than a wedding gown. read more

I swear by Misook and her sister (sister-in-law?). They are amazing. I have had hundreds (not kidding) of pieces altered by them over many years...everything from fine evening wear and business suits to rock climbing pants and jeans. Every single thing has been perfect the first time. I am really picky about how my clothes fit and function and can rarely wear anything off the rack - every dress, pants, skirt and jacket goes straight to them for alterations before I wear it. Major alterations on evening dresses and complex alterations on suit jackets - no problem, they get it just right. Any pair of pants or skirt usually needs massive taking in at the waist and we always work together to determine if we can get away with quick tucks around the waistband (for more casual pieces) or if it needs to be totally reworked so it looks perfect (professional pants, suit pants). During fittings, Misook is very good about explaining any options, how they will look & function and differences in cost. I haven't compared their prices to other tailors item for item but it doesn't seem higher than what I've paid in the past and they are worth every penny. I generally plan on a 2-3 week lead time which is usually fine but if I need a particular item sooner, they will accommodate me. I cannot recommend them highly enough!! read more
