Before the new owners (Sam and Lily) took over the business a little over a year ago, I would have recommended this nail salon. The previous owners (Hai and Nina) were kind, professional, respectful, and understood customer service at its finest. Unfortunately, everything is the total opposite with the new owners. I had been going to Nina & Hai for 14 years, so all I received was the utmost respect. I am not receiving anything close from the current owners, especially Sam. Made an appointment for Gel mani. I was greeted and got a seat right away. Everyone seemed friendly. Place was what I saw online. Not fancy but enough tables and massage chairs. Very Asian style- I don't mind. I chose the color and sat down but including the lady next to me recommended the dip gel. All said it lasts longer. So I chose to go ahead. It took Tony about 40 minutes start to finish! Maybe not the most detailed (compared to others) but got the job done pretty neatly. I don't understand the bad reviews, but I guess everyone has their own views and it depends on what you're getting. :) This spot is my preference in the area for nails. As I write this I'm looking at my nails, which were filled by Nina over 3 weeks ago and still holding strong. However, I just get regular polish over that, occasionally I'll do gel. I can't speak to their ability to do anything more fancy. If I were doing something special, I'd always use a photo that shows what I want, because there can be misunderstandings otherwise. It's a small place, but clean, and the staff has always been super nice. This being said, I avoid going on weekends. They are busy and that can make it feel really cramped. Highly recommend you call for an appointment- if you don't confirm a time and get on their book, you might not be able to get your service if you're a walk in. I often see regulars come in while I'm there that the staff knows by name...that's usually a good sign in my mind. read more

I'm not sure why the bad reviews either. I've been there twice for powder dip nails because a few girls in the area recommended this nail shop. I called ahead for an appointment the day before both times and have never had to wait more than a few minutes. Both times my nails have held up for more than 3 weeks and everyone is friendly there. They have lots of choices and it's small but very well ventilated and I will definitely go back. They do a great job and my nails look AWESOME! read more

Called to see how much a gel manicure is and told it was $25, so I go in, pick out my color, sit down and then am asked if I want just polish or a manicure, I say manicure, the guy says $40. I said I just called literally 10 minutes ago and the woman told me $25, he says that's for polish only... ok not off to a real great start. What I got was the worst gel manicure I've ever had. He painted right up to my skin, if not on top of and over it, and within 2 days it was peeling up from various spots on most nails because it wasn't sealed properly. I could've, and have, done a better job myself at home with my own lamp. I will definitely not return. read more

I had visited the salon the day before she took it over and I had issues with my nalis that was done by the previous owner. And she had no problems with doing a complete set of new nails. Just got my nails done there today after reading some good reviews. Called to schedule an appointment and even though they were pretty booked for the day, Nina was able to fit me in. She was also the one who did my nails. I literally didn't wait at all! In fact, I never saw anyone waiting. I got a full acrylic set with french tips. She was speedy and they still came out looking fantastic. The entire visit, from the moment I walked in the door and INCLUDING drying time, took only 50 minutes! She doesn't even charge extra for the french tip airbrush! She knew the name of every single customer that came in while I was there and even though I had never been there before, once she found out my name she proceeded to use it during my entire visit. It made me feel like a regular, even though I wasn't. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a salon! read more

100% would not return or recommend. I had scheduled a appointment on 4/19 for noon. We got there at noon, was told there was a 10 minute wait, which is fine but 12:30 rolls around and we haven't even started soaking. When we finally did begin, I explained I had made the appointment for noon because I was on a lunch break. They were non-apologetic for the delay and flat out rude the entire time. The pedicure itself was sloppy and all over my toes. This was 4 days ago and half of the paint has already chipped off. Again, 100% do not recommend. read more

I have been a customer for about a year and in the very beginning Nina ( the owner) was great. .friendly, helpful and did a great job. Things were going along relatively well until I noticed a few things after visiting a different salon. I had received a gift certificate for a competitor's spa as a gift and went there a few times for their manicures and had something to compare the service I recieved at Superstar nails to, which I hadn't had before. On my return to Superstar I noticed a few things, which concerned me greatly. Upon entering the salon for my appointment, I was barely greeted by Nina, who didnt even look up to make eye contact with me as she sat at her chair filing her toenails, nor when I sat down to begin my appointment with her. She was silent the entire time I was in her chair, except to lean over to the client next to me to say something when I got up from the chair for a moment. I don't know if she was upset that I had been absent for a month or so while at the other salon, but her attitude was downright rude. This is not the first time she had been unfriendly and rude to me, but I was willing to suck it up, as she did a nice job and only charged me 25.00, if I paid cash under the table. I dont believe that I am a demanding customer and I try my best to treat people with a friendly smile and warm demeanor. With that being said, things also began to go downhill hygiene-wise since my return. The nail polish bottles were dusty and sticky with dripped polish. There was debris and crumbs alongside and behind the pedicure chairs. She used the same nail file on me as she did the client before (I watched as she pulled it out of the drawer after just putting it away from the previous client) as well as the same cuticle clippers, which she hadn't disinfected from the previous client either. The coups de gras was while she was busy tending to another customer ( who was a walk in during my appointment time and left me waiting an extra 20 minutes so she could start her nails) was when her husband, who also works there, scraped all of my shellac polish off with his fingernails after my nails had been soaked in polish remover...as he had done on one other occasion previously. Knowing what I do now, this is completely unsanitary. Ladies take note: a reputable salon will offer you the nail file to take home, as it suppose to be used only once and nail/cuticle clippers should be soaking in disinfectant between clients. Only sterile tools should be used to remove anything from your nail bed. To Nina, I am very disappointed in your disrespectful and rude attitude towards me, which became worse as the weeks went on, after I casually asked about your salon's cleanliness practices. Your obvious disdain has cost you a client and this review. I will be taking my money elsewhere. read more
