I went for a basic manicure and pedicure. For the service I received it was WAY overpriced....$87. The technician that did the pedicure basically went through the motion on every step. I did pay $12. extra for the hot wax. When she brought the hot wax out I noticed she skimped on the wax. Normally when I ask for hot wax it covers the whole foot. This barely covered the bottom of my foot. Then she could hardly wait to clean the wax off of my feet. Guess she was in a hurry. The manicure was a little better but really nothing to speak of either. Side note. I did make an appointment the previous day so it's not like I just walked in expecting service unannounced. The nails, although I had gel applied didn't last more than a week before one began to peel. Decent interior, but overall I wouldn't say it was a $100 service plus tip, so I don't anticipate being back. read more

I live in San Francisco, but was born and raised in Hudson, OH. Lovely Nails was my nail salon from the ages of 17 until 30 and I never went anywhere else until my move to SF. I went in right before NYE 2020 for a gel/shellac mani as I had been in Ohio since mid-December and due to a death in the family right before X-Mas, was not able to make it back home to SF before mid January. I was very nervous to go anywhere outside of my salon in SF, but figured my old stomping grounds would be the best place! Shelly, was amazing. She went the extra mile finding the color and making sure that I was happy. Enter issues... *I do want to say that the overall pricing was very very fair - especially considering Ohio's prices for services are markedly higher than SF and New York (I think that's due to availability and quantity of salons).* Two days after NYE the ends of the manicure started chipping - badly. The entire point of a shellac polish is that they last for at least two weeks with no chipping, smudging, changes etc. I went back into to the salon 5 days after the manicure, which was originally done on 1/31. I explained the issue and Shelly mentioned that yes, because I'd gotten chrome powder on top of the gel... that happens. (would've been helpful to know that when I was given the option of the powder), but okay - I'll take the hit, since I chose the color. I asked that they change the polish - anticipating that it would be close to the quoted price (on their sign) of [$9 and up] for the change. I did tell my technician that we were in a hurry and she said that the service would take 30-45 mins. I was there for over an hour for a polish change. The female that re-did the manicure took so long that my mother had to leave and go home to get changed for our next appt, which we were going to miss. Coupled with the slow service, I was stunned that they were charging me almost the price of a full manicure (my original with Shelly was $30 - 5 days prior); especially since I was back in the salon in 5 days to fix a mistake that essentially was caused because I wasn't told that the powder didn't last like shellac. I paid the $25, figuring - $25, problem solved and I'll have new nails. The polish on BOTH of my middle fingers, curled and lifted off completely the SAME NIGHT. Now, I'm back in the salon for the third time, where I'm told that they would fix the nails for free... (umm duh) and that they were "so sorry" I felt that the polish-change price was unfair, but that Paul wasn't there so they couldn't make any adjustments to the price... Long and short is, they lost me forever over an overpriced polish change that would have never had to happen had I been informed that the first supposed "gel manicure" wouldn't hold up as long as a normal one. I do live in California, so its not a huge loss for the business, but I needed to tell my story as I am still furious that I spend 3 days running up to the salon to take care of what should have been a non issue and am very disappointed that they were just happy to let me leave feeling taken advantage of and unhappy. read more

I'm incredibly picky about getting my nails done because I'm usually disappointed by the results but this place always makes me walk away happy and more than satisfied! Sadly I want to love this place. Great environment, happy nice staff and very clean. I spent approx $150 (with tip) for pedicure (with hot stones) and dip manicure with previous dip removal. I was there in a Thursday and before the night was over on mail dip cracked and a few others chopped off. I went back in Sat and they graciously fixed with our charge but I felt bad it was her time so gave $20. Totaling now at $170. As of yesterday (Tues) they are all cracking and nails are breaking off because my nails don't survive without coverage. So disappointed. Not even a week since the start. I went in for a manicure, a basic one and I stated that ahead. I told her I had not had one in awhile and I wanted the basic one. She took around 20 ish minutes to complete everything from start to finish! I asked for only 1 coat of nail polish. She then topped the 1 coat nail polish off with some other clear nail polish (or so I thought). When I went to pay she said it would be $37 and then hands me the bill/receipt for $40! I could see the price sheet s on the counter and pointed to it stating it said $22 for a basic manicure and she then stated she put something on top of my ONE coat that will make it last and that is why it costs so much more. I probably paid for the whole bottle of whatever that special coat is she put on top of my nail polish. The woman that did my nails stated she was the manager. She was nice but I feel totally ripped off and they just lost a customer that would have been a regular. read more

Paul did such a fantastic job in not just filling and shaping my nails but fixing one of my broken nails and altering the mistakes my last nail tech made. I have visited this salon for years unfortunately for the last 6 months it seems to be going downhill. Recent visit was a joke. Service was so poor. Nail techs seem so unhappy and it shows in the work they are doing. Several friends have said the same thing but I kept holding out hope. After today's experience,I will not be going back. I called ahead to see if I could get in and out with a pedi on my 1 hour lunch break, gave my name and what time I was coming. I was told it shouldn't be a problem because they weren't too busy. When I got there they were busy (okay, understandable, it was 1:00). Again, I asked if I could get out in an hour. They said yes. They put me in a chair to soak and left me for 30 minutes. I was about to leave with no pedi when I was finally approached. The girl was very nice but very slow. Took 10 minutes to take off my polish. I had to tell her no massage or any of the extras, just get my heels and toes and I'd leave with wet polish. I was still 10 minutes late getting back to work (I work in same plaza so no real drive time). It seems to me that they would rather give a patron a false expectation and keep them waiting than to have them walk out the door and come back when they have more time. There were 3 other customers there at the same time complaining about being told it wouldn't be long when in fact they were left waiting. Just be honest! Tell me I have a 40 minute wait or a 20 minute wait so I can decide if I want to come back another time. I respect honesty! read more

Waited 45 minutes AFTER we checked in and our appointment (which we scheduled ahead of time) was supposed to start. No one spoke to us the whole time to give us updates. We ended up getting up to leave. Without manicures. Nothing was offered to make up for this inconvenience. Will probably never go back. read more
