In short, still a great local hole in the wall spot for rice and beef/chicken bowls. This place has been around forever, and though I believe it has changed ownership sometime around COVID, it's still a great place for a fresh teriyaki bowl - or platter, if you're hungry. The people are always friendly and will generous with the sauce(s), adding them until you tell them to stop! Though it's located on El Camino, it can be easy to pass by. I always head towards the transit station and look for the coffee shop next door. There is a little bit of parking in the lot nearby, though it is shared by other businesses. I have to give my updated review after the opening of the new food hall down the street which we wanted to try tonight, but it was really crowded. There's nowhere to sit so instead we made Friday night date night at Superbowl Express. Our go to.. we got to meet Tyler the number one person on Friday night to make sure that everybody gets exactly what they want with the appropriate amount of sauce and if they want extra onions, there might be an extra $.10 charge. I don't know how much it is. It just says extra onions extra charge but it's worth it. I don't think she charged me so an extra star goes to Tyler for the free extra onions. read more

This is a true local gem. Perfect for a healthy and hearty lunch on the go. Service is always so quick friendly and even quicker if you call to order ahead. There are only a few spots inside so most people pick up to go orders. I love grabbing a half beef and chicken with veggie bowl and eating it on the beach. Food is always hot and fresh! We were looking for some healthier options for dinner and stumbled across this place on yelp, it's tucked away on the side of a busy road and it's a little tiny hole in the wall, but those tend to be some of the best places I've found. One of my favorite places in San Clemente! The food is always phenomenal. High quality ingredients, flavor and portion. The staff/owner (family) are always so friendly, personable and truly put so much love and care into their food/establishment and service. Came in on the weekend to no line however that's not always the case. Definitely order ahead of time over the phone. There was halloween candy and lemons available free. Before you get your food you have the option to add teriyaki sauce, green onions, and sesame seeds. I get a lot of teriyaki sauce on the beef bowl. The lady behind the counter was super nice. The rice was sticky and soft. It soaked up the flavor of the sauce, the short ribs, and the green onions. Musubi rolls aren't available daily but I always check to see if they're there. Okay this place is great. Food, service, unassuming location... you should eat here. Tiny strip mall on that you wouldn't expect. I dropped in for a random lunch on a Thursday afternoon and was blown away. The teriyaki veggie bowl was great. The spicy sauce was very manageable and left me wanting more and more. I love the food here. Joo and his team are usually accommodating and friendly. The girl that was working cashier this morning, not so much.. I am visiting from Arizona and wanted some food for the drive home (when I lived here, I ate at Super Bowl at least once a week). I look forward to the spam musubi, so I got here early and when I placed my order to go just after 11am, they were starting to make them in the back. The girl told me 30 minutes if I wanted one! One of our favorites for lunch. We've been coming here for years. The new owners have made it even better. I love the chicken salad with all the toppings. My husband loves the beef teriyaki platter with the salad. Everything is delicious and has a great flavor. I've enjoyed their sushi rolls and udon noodle soup ( made by the owners mom) on a cold day is perfect. The gals that work the front counter are always friendly and super efficient. Ok - I saw a few people who were eating chicken and veggie bowels at Capo Beach. It smelled great so I asked what it was. A week later I came over during lunch time. It is a hole - in- the wall, which I'm usually ok with but this place is very dated. Thought to myself it would be ok as long as the food is good! I ordered two bowels , one chicken teriyaki and one beef teriyaki . For both bowels it was $25.59 for that price I thought the portions would be similar to places like Panda Express , Wahba grill etc. , when I got the food it was in a very small 5 "x 5 " container. Something like the size of your hand. Ok, I'm thinking the food must be fire! What a complete let down! The chicken was not only dry it was sour, no flavor of teriyaki chicken , no ginger or garlic and it had a decent amount of teriyaki sauce, encase you're wondering it's dark meat so it's hard to dry that out. The fact that the chicken is sour lets me know whatever they cook this in wasn't cleaned for a while, and there was definitely debris or the charred remains from previous cooking and grease and the food tasted pretty bad. I tried the teriyaki beef - the flavor was ok, they say it's ribeye , so it should have a good amount of marbling and flavor and it should be juicy. Well , other than the marinate the meat was dry . Sadly I was very disappointed and so did the person that was the other person that was eating with me. We had an appointment to catch and needed to eat something so I couldn't have time to return this food. Normally I would take it back! One of my favorite things to do is pick up a teriyaki bowl and walk to the beach. The location of this spot is awesome. The staff are very friendly, and the portions are really good.
