Breakfast Molcajete
Patience M.

Visited in a Monday early afternoon, there was quite a few tables occupied which is always a good sign on a weekday. My husband and I split the breakfast molcajete and it was so good, enough for two plus leftovers. My favorite part was the chorizo, they used high quality chorizo and it had the perfect amount of spice, we ordered the eggs over medium and they came out a little past that but no big deal especially since everything was steaming. My only complaint was there was a lot of bell peppers underneath and only one piece of chorizo. Also their hot sauce was great. Will be back next time I'm in the area.

I was privileged to be invited to a private event organized by Parker & Parker Tax and Accounting in Los Alamitos, CA, to celebrate the end of a successful 2025 tax season. As always, the food was delightful, especially the sopa de fideo and the enchiladas. A heartfelt thanks to the amazing Chef Laura Rodriguez and her staff for consistently making you feel like family. So come and check out this establishment for yourself, and when you do, please be nice and invite me! P.S. I mentioned Parker & Parker Tax and Accounting for those seeking great tax filing and guidance. Don't forget to ask for Candy Kirby. Cheers!

Flavorful Tacos & Good Taco Tuesday This is a fantastic spot for Taco Tuesday. The Tacos: The meat was flavorful, and you can tell the tortillas are well-made, they were perfectly soft and fresh. The Perks: As soon as you sit down, they serve tortilla chips, salsa, and a bean dip. Customization: They have a self-serve salsa bar with onions and cilantro for tacos.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. Looking around, the interior was decorated well. There was a side room that seemed a little dark and hardly used. The food itself was decent. They gave complimentary chips, salsa, and beans. The chips were a bit hard and overcooked and beans were pretty basic but the salsa was good. I ordered the Chapman burrito. It had great taste and great size. Paid 18 for it, which I'd say was 3 bucks more expensive than I wish but still a good burrito. I would come back.

Sweet little spot in Orange with pretty good food. The complimentary chips and salsa comes with refried beans, the salsa had a kick which I liked a lot. The beans were tasty as well. I ordered the Chapman burrito which comes in a piping hot pan covered in a delicious salsa concoction consisting a creamy tomatillo salsa, melted cheddar, sour cream and avocado on top. Inside is filled with steak, chorizo, refried beans, Mexican rice, pico de gallo. The taste is a hot gooey mix of happiness. Definitely give it a try if you're a burrito aficionado. I'm not a fan of the filler of Mexican rice in a burrito but the sauce helps mask it and it works nice here. The carne Asada plate was a typical plate you can find at most places and it was great. The meat was flavored nice and I loved the grilled jalapeño and onions that come with it. Overall the food was excellent. The restaurant has its own parking and has a nice vibe and atmosphere inside. It's very welcoming. We showed up on a Friday night and were sat right away. The service was phenomenal. I never had to once ask for my drink to be refilled and they always made sure we had what we needed. I can't wait to return!

Fantastic atmosphere and great service. A complete feast and fairly priced. I got the Chapman Burrito but swapped out the red meat for the chicken. It came out on a sizzling plate you'd normally get fajitas on - so great! Flavors were unique - really happy with my choice. The rest of the menu has a lot of interesting but reliable and classic Mexican dishes, I also loved the side of beans that automatically comes with the complimentary chips and salsa. Nice touch. Chips came out a little cold and the initial salsa serving could have been stronger but this is just me being not picky. I have no real complaints - just a great experience. I will definitely be back.

Food: 4* Service: 5* Ambiance: 3* Value for price: 4* Excellent service. Very attentive and helpful. The food by and large was very tasty. Ample in portion, a little high in price, but worth it. I wanted to try the carne en su jugo but it was sold out. So I tried the huge Chapman burrito. It was very good, ample meat and not filled with fillers like rice and beans. It comes on a cast iron hot plate and is smothered in a cheese sauce. A hint of spice but very well flavored. The free chips, salsa and refried beans are good. The salsa is a little spicy but complex in a good way. The beans were good and a different type of appetizer, if you haven't been to Guadalajara or some parts of Northern Mexico where this is a typical appetizer, it may seem odd. My colleagues enjoyed the barbacoa, fajitas, and Chapman burrito. The drinks were good and ambiance nice. I plan to return.

Amazing food and even better service! Laura and the team have kept me coming back for years! I recommend this to all my friends! The new steak skillet is amazing!

I really enjoyed my food and the coffee. Salsa was on point. Service was fast and friendly. It's a casual place. You can orders drinks and watch sports. They do have TV's inside. Everything I tried was good. No disappointments. I would come back.

Any taco Tuesday special?

Yes, our tacos are $ 1.79 for Carne Asada, Pastor (Chef Laura's special recipe), Carnitas, chorizo and Lengua Enjoy!!!!!

Is this place still open? What are the hours? I went a few weeks ago on a Friday around 4pm and it was closed. Then a week later on a Tuesday around 10:30am. It was also closed....

Yes, we are open 9am to 9pm 6 days a week except for Sunday 8 am to 8 pm

Is this place pet friendly? I have a service dog and would love to try this place?

I don't think so, not inside it's small. Well I didn't see any but they do have outside seating. I saw someone there sitting outside and their dog was there.

Are the beans vegetarian? Also, is any meal vegetarian besides the cheese quesadilla? Thank you!

Yes, the frijoles de olla are.

I ordered the same meal, the veggie tacos, and they were nowhere near as good as the first time. After staying away for a long while, we decided to give Gabbys another shot, but once again the food was underwhelming. This place just seems very inconsistent, and the service was mediocre at best. My wife ordered a steak burrito, and when the food arrived, the burrito had no meat in it at all. She had to send it back. It's hard to understand how a steak burrito goes out without steak. It also feels like everything is pre-batched, which takes away from the quality and freshness. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, I personally would not recommend this place. The food feels very Americanized and lacks the traditional flavor and quality you'd expect from authentic Mexican cuisine.

The beans did not taste watered down, and the enchiladas themselves were flavorful. I always worry about shrimp overpowering the sides of a dish but it tasted great. The rice was also really filling. We had a reservation and they seated us at a pretty big table, which I liked. The servers were very timely, kind, and knowledgeable about each dish on the menu and the rotating specials. The inside of the restaurant was HUGE. I'm pretty sure it was built inside of a church. I really liked the stained glass and elevated seating areas nearby, it reminded me of the Old Spaghetti Factory layout in Fullerton. Overall, I had a very positive experience. I had to get a Diet Coke and of course, it was crisp to my expectations. A little heads-up, unlike the Costa Mesa location, they do not have horchata. Nevertheless, I'd come here again to try their burritos, tostadas, and salads!

When we got there, I let the server know but it didn't seem to matter because he didn't ask my name or time, he just seated us. That works for me! Glad we didn't have to wait, we had to make it a fast meal! We waited about 5 minutes before we were greeted by our waitress. I had seen they had just started serving the soft serve margaritas on their IG and I was SUPER excited to order one! I asked our waitress (Rosie) what flavors were available and she had to ask someone else. Ok, no worries, they had mango and strawberry. I asked for a swirl. My husband ordered a shot of patron anejo sherry cask. She did not seem to understand what he was asking for even though it was an item listed on the menu. He repeated himself a couple times and even pointed to it on the menu before she said "I'll have to check with the bar" she took the rest of our order which consisted of another cocktail, the empanadas, and an order of enchiladas. She left for a bit and came back saying they had his tequila. Then another waitress came back a few moments later asking how he wanted his tequila. After our order was in, we received our chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious! Not too long after, my empanadas came out and they were overdone. Burnt. The pastry was bitter, but not just because it was overcooked, but because it seems like the oil was old. The filling wasn't what I was expecting, but it was tasty. My husband's enchiladas were good. I had one bite. After our meal, husband ordered one more cocktail and the dessert chimichanga. Same bitter oil taste on the chimichanga, I wasn't a fan. When we were brought the check, it turns out we were overcharged for the tequila. We brought it up to the waitress and she told him he ordered a different one when he had repeated "patron anejo sherry cask" to her multiple times. I don't even know if there's more than one sherry cask tequila on the menu! Anyway, she was able to adjust the bill to charge us for the correct tequila but the husband still didn't get to drink the tequila he wanted. Oh well.

The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well. Highly recommend if you're near 728 N Tustin St in Orange! Pair it with an horchata, yum
