Our 20 year old automatic pool cover finally called it quits. We nearly went with another pool cover company but they had terrible customer service reviews. Also, the representative who does the estimate and makes the sale is NOT the guy who installs the cover nor does repairs. SunShine is a small family business with great and recent reviews, especially shining in customer responsiveness, so even though their quote was considerably higher than the other company we chose quality over price. Miguel (the father) based his estimate on the pics of our existing cover. Esteban (the son) arrived on time, removed the existing cover and tracks, cleaned up all the debris, and took exact measurements. Five years ago, I had a Sunshine pool cover installed. It worked seamlessly for five years without a single malfunction. It kept my pool, clean and warm and saved us money heating it as well as from evaporative water loss. It also provided incredible safety and peace of mind with my young grandson who is now almost 5 years old. Miguel and his wife Patricia installed the original pool cover. As vinyl Pool Covers do, the cover gradually deteriorated and needed to be replaced. This was simply normal wear and tear. The motor and all of the hardware were still in excellent working order. There was no question in my mind as to who I would call for the replacement cover. Today, Miguel's son Esteban came and installed the new cover. He did an excellent job. We've had a very nice experience with Miguel and his son. After deciding that we were going to keep our inground pool, we started researching a "serious" pool cover and originally were interested in an OC company. But...they had a big service charge for traveling (I get it, freeways are a drag) and we wanted to find someone more local (San Fernando Valley). Also, what we've learned about motorized pool covers is that the relationship with the company is as important as the product, because over time you're going to need updating etc. They make the cover we had installed and have been in business for a very long time - which is great because they have history with their product. My husband had talked with Miguel on the phone and really liked him - felt he was honest and straightforward, so we had them come over for measuring. It all went well, his son does the install and a week or so later we were all finished up. He did a really good job and was very careful with our plants and backyard. read more

10 stars!! Miguel and his sons have helped me over the past two years with a lemon pool cover installed by an old owner. They first came out several times to repair the cover, including doing MULTIPLE free video calls with me to walk me through trying to repair the cover myself. They never asked for payment and ALWAYS did the right thing. This year, they replaced the pool cover which I had been struggling with. They did an incredible installing the cover and spent over an hour cleaning out old leaves and debris which had accumulated in the motor area. They patiently taught me how to use the cover correctly. Shortly after the installation, we had a rodent who chewed through the newly installed ropes. We were HORRIFIED. Miguel sent his team out to replace the ropes free of charge. Miguel also looked up ways to prevent rodent damage on a pool to help us. We have never experienced such kindness before (!!!) and see Sunshine Pools as a friend and someone we hope we can call again soon for any work on our home. I am amazed that I found a company right here in Los Angeles that manufactures and installs absolutely the highest quality pool covers. My pool cover needed replacing after 12 years, so I called Sunshine. They were able to give me a quick estimate with just the dimensions of my pool and a few photos. Once we agreed on a price, they came out to do a detailed measurement for the manufacturing of a new pool cover. They quoted me something like 2 to 3 weeks to get it manufactured but had it done within a week, and ready for installation when it worked for me. Their installers were absolutely top notch and careful about everything. They even spent well over an hour cleaning out the vault of dirt and dead leaves which had accumulated over many years. During installation, the technicians noticed some corrosion on one of the large metal parts that was previously unseen, but they were able to put a "splint" on it -- at no extra charge -- so it wouldn't fail before I was able to replace it. They sent me a quote for the replacement of the part promptly the next business day, and were able to make the full repair the day after that. Again, a top notch technician installed it and paid attention to all the details. You rarely find companies that pay such close attention to the details, are super responsive, and under-promise and over-deliver in the way that this company does. Highly recommend them! read more
