We tried their brunch and it was absolutely delicious! Pictured: - Baby Back Pork Ribs - Crab Cakes - Cold Shrimp Cocktail - Aguachile - Ceviche Trio - Chicken Wings - Mila Rita - Panko Crusted Sole Petrale - Salmon - Shrimp à la Pasilla Pasta - Butterfly Rainbow Trout Everything was amazing and the ambiance is super cute for brunch or a dinner date!

Large group Saturday night dinner, no wait time. We stumbled upon this restaurant as our first choice had too long of a wait time. The decor is very California coastal vacation vibes. Cute outdoor seating. They have salads, pastas, and classic mains like salmon, rib eye, meatloaf, pork chop, and burger. The pasta dish portion is a good size and you can choose which pasta type you prefer- penne, angel hair, linguine, and fettuccine. They also have a 21+ rooftop bar nextdoor if you're feeling like staying out longer.

What an unexpected evening. My wife and I were celebrating our 2nd year anniversary in Palm Springs this weekend. As we walked around, we found these amazing fire heater and we were like, "we haven't seen this the last time we came here" and decided to try it. Let's say it's vibey. It's a new restaurant that opened up 2 months ago and we got to just enjoy the deliciousness of the meal. My wife got the cioppino and I got the meatloaf. The good was stellar. The vibes were running high. And the evening was just perfect. Our server Angel was kind hearted and a spectacular server. He also made our experience.

This is a beautiful restaurant. From the moment you walk in you can tell a lot of thought and time was taken to curate an elevated vibe. The young woman who greeted us was kind and friendly. She was able to get us a glider outside without a reservation. Our server Jacob was delightful and the gentleman who came around with water was the sweetest. We ordered the pomodoro pasta, the porkchop and the salmon plus three drinks and the price point was consistent with the rest of Palm Springs. We had some feedback that we shared with the manager and he very kindly listened and we appreciated that he made time for us.

Was SO-CAL SUNSET during restaurant week! Love the historic building and large outdoor patio!!!! Thanks for birthday wishes & dessert from Bruno our waiter! It was great salmon and loved the salad!

Great new place in this longtime Palm Springs location. The food is very good and the cocktails are well-made. I particularly enjoyed the After Glow. They are still working through some of the new restaurant quirks, but you can tell they are actively learning from any issues, resolving them and improving. You can sit either inside in the nicely, decorated and somewhat romantic dining room, where you could sit out on the outdoor patio. One of the features of the patio are the glider seats that have been here through various businesses. So come here and have a wonderful evening. But one word of caution, be careful while eating soup on the glider seats when you're dining partners are moving the gliders back-and-forth.

Excellent service. Carlos was wonderful helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. Had some great recommendations. Food was good full of flavor , presentation was beautiful. Was not disappointed.

Stumbled upon Sunset while walking the strip and was very happed that we did. The hostess was friendly and nice, she seated us in one of the carriage swings outside and it couldn't have been a better seat. Very charming and romantic. Our server was the best! Her name escapes me but she is from Guadalajara and her service was simply great! For food we ordered the Cioppino and the Salmon, both were delicious but the Cioppino deserves a special mention because it was phenomenal!

Came without a restaurant and got lucky to be seated at a swinging table on the patio. What a fun and interesting concept. we had seen this the day prior, and it looked so fun and inviting we decided to try for a Sunday brunch after our walking tour during modernism week. The restaurant is quite lovely and diverse. The inside is a very chic city, vibe, elegant, refined, and call me. The outside is a lovely garden patio with small tables and the swinging golf cart like booths. I love the ambience of both inside and outside seating. Food & Drinks- Quite a few specialty drinks to choose from I had the daydream which was very good . Chicken and waffles were ok. Calamari also ok, a bit too chewy(border rubbery). Husband ordered the surf and turf Benedict w/potatoes. Very tasty. The service was a bit slow. Our waiter seemed very green but he was pleasant and had a good attitude so I'm sure he'll just need more time to acclimate to serving. Overall, I loved the restaurant and would go back again to try a few more menu options and of course, another cocktail .

Pork chop was excellent!

I'm really bummed to even mention this, but tonight was a really disappointment from our first two times. I think they're cutting corners on staff and food costs for the summer crowd, because frankly, the food was bland, the pork chop was overcooked, and the bartender was overwhelmed due to a shortage of staff. We even sat at the bar to give the bartender some customers and after waiting for a while we had to cancel our last round of drinks to leave as it took too long and had finished our meal . I've had a better meal on a plane. I'm sad because I really recommended this place to others when asked where to eat in Palm Springs but I've changed my mind...can't wait for John Henry's to reopen after the summer hiatus.

Happen to walk into this restaurant and was able to seated right inside. Outside was packed and had no seating. Super beautiful inside and great ambiance. Service was okay the waiter was nice. We got the meatloaf and the sole. Both dishes were really great and finished both plates. The berry drop I got was great but the Mai tai was not good and would not recommend. I wish the menu was a bit bigger didn't have many options. I think most people come here for the outdoor seating and drinks. Don't think we will be back but it was a nice dinner.

The patio is beautiful!

So new that their website says "coming soon," and their dumpster is full of cardboard from their load-in. But even with their first steps - and how do I keep finding places that just opened? - I predict this place is going to be a winner. If nothing else, their outdoor patio is the most beautiful and welcoming outdoor space in Palm Springs. Absolutely gorgeous with a raffia and mature trees vibe and so much space that you don't feel packed in. Jazz standards were wafting through the air for brunch while the lamps suspended from the trees swayed around. It's relaxed but sophisticated, and it feels like there's space to host a group. I give a lot of grace to service, and there were the expected "we're figuring this out" moments ... but the staff is SO nice. Chatty but not overbearing. Huge smiles and friendly jokes from the dude who's running food, who will charm your socks off. And the food? Honestly ... with a patio this lovely, they could probably skate on the food and still be a hit, but our breakfast was tasty (if not innovative). On a whim we started with the shrimp aquachile and maybe found the best thing on the menu. Plump shrimp "cooked" in a saucy bath of lime with puréed cucumber and mango bringing relief to the stinging heat ... it is a delicious dish! I'm looking forward to coming back for dinner. Check this joint out. Support small businesses in PS!

We had dinner last night Sunset restaurant. Beautiful restaurant, excellent food. I hope you try it out, won't be disappointed.

After waiting around 20 minutes, I decided to just grab a seat at the bar, and I'm actually glad I did. There was no wait, and even though the restaurant was packed, my food came out really fast. Jon was my primary server. He was polite but was not attentive, I didn't feel like we connected much during the meal. The front staff was very friendly, though, and helped me with some recommendations. I ordered the guacamole with chips and salsa, fried whole jalapeño, chile relleno, and rice and beans. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well seasoned. The guacamole was really good, the rice and beans had a lot of flavor, and the fried jalapeño with the habanero sauce had just the right amount of heat. If you like spicy food, I'd definitely recommend trying it. The chile relleno was recommended by Alvaro, and he told me it reminds him of his grandma whenever he eats it. I really liked hearing that because it made the recommendation feel personal, and he was absolutely right, it was delicious. Huge shoutout to Alvaro. He wasn't even my primary server, but he kept an eye on me, checked in, helped with recommendations, and made sure everyone around the bar was taken care of. He was just genuinely friendly and easy to talk to, and that stood out to me. For dessert, I tried the Pan de Elote for the first time, again on Alvaro's recommendation. I had never tried it before, but trust me, hands down, it was really good. I'm glad he convinced me to give it a try because it was the perfect way to finish the meal. The kitchen deserves a shoutout too. Everything came out cooked well and looked great. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and has both indoor and outdoor seating, and I thought the prices were pretty reasonable. I've been to a few highly rated places around Palm Springs that looked great on paper but didn't quite live up to the reviews, so it was nice to finally have a meal that actually delivered. Good food, good atmosphere, and genuinely nice people. Alvaro definitely made the experience more memorable!!!!

The food itself was enjoyable, but the value and portion sizes really missed the mark for us.

They don't pick up the phone at all, so don't bother calling. They do, however, take walk-ins if you're willing to wait. All part of the optics and over hype. We brought our own bottle of Veuve and they were great about putting it on ice for us and opened it for us so we could sip while we waited for a table. All excellent, but it came at a $49 corkage fee before tip! Geez! When we were seated, the host made a big deal about our birthdays gave us BOTH handwritten birthday cards and told the waiter to take good care of us because we were celebrating a double birthday and seated us at a center spot at the bar, which we loved! A hit! Overall, the service and ALL the staff were great, but to be honest. some of the food was hit and miss. The menu is somewhat underwhelming. They seem to be mostly known for their deviled eggs. Okay, I love a deviled egg, but so what? Every time I'd ask anyone about Bar Cecil, they'd say, "Well. their deviled eggs are good." We should have known then, but we wanted to see for ourselves what the hype was about. It's French because they serve, escargot, steak frites, and caviar service, but it's really a bunch of different food items that aren't really cohesive -- deviled eggs with dates and sage, Thai curry muscles, smoke pork chop, cacio e pepe. WTF? The best things we had were the oysters, grilled artichokes and the Bernaise sauce on the steak frites was spot on, but the steak itself was chewy and difficult to cut with a steak knife -- a miss that could have been a hit. Not worth the price point. We also ordered the Thai curry muscles, which were really good until the last six muscles, which were sandy and gritty. Again another miss, that could have been a hit. The waiter did take them off the bill, but then at the very end of our "double birthday celebration," the waiter asked, "Are you ready for desert?" My friend responded, "Well, I'm pretty full. Is it complimentary?" And he responded, "It is, but I didn't want to ruin the surprise." So we both ordered desert -- I ordered a "special" desert that wasn't on the menu. A cookie ice cream thing and she ordered the pavlova. Mine was okay. She loved hers. Again it could have been a massive hit-- instead it was a massive miss! We were charged $27 for our two "complimentary" deserts before tax and tip! Oh well, we didn't haggle and paid our bill, but only tipped 20%. We would have tipped an extra $50-$100 because it was our birthdays and we would have tipped all the comped amounts to the wait staff, figuring we would have paid those costs plus tax and tip on top of that. Too bad. Overall, I wouldn't wait in long lines any time soon for this experience. It's was just a meh for us.

When I pulled out my phone to take a picture, he looked at me very seriously and said, "No pictures, please." I immediately put my phone away! Later, when our drinks arrived, I cautiously asked, "Am I allowed to take a picture of these?" He laughed and said, "Of course! I was just giving you the vibe!" We had just come from a slightly odd service experience at Workshop Kitchen (see that review!), so for a second I thought, "Oh no, here we go again!" Thankfully, not at all. Well this one, located in the Arena area of Palm Springs. Theres no name or signs anywhere. You just have to know where to look. Try opening doors and see which one opens. We were walking back to the car when I noticed the doors. As l had heard so much about it but didn't know where it was. Well lucky me, I opened the door with the first try. I had an idea on where it was but didn't know where. That's where the 4 stars come in. As I had the door open, I could hear from the bar area a gentleman yelling out shut the door. Ok, I get the dark hidden concept but yelling out like that, kind of rude. Do you not want people in. It was about 11pm when we walked in. You enter and it's a dark hallway straight to the bar. That'll be what you see right when you walk in. Place is covered in a dark damask wallpaper and only light are small fixtures. So dark and demure. Bar area is the main attraction with all the seating. There's a few hi tops along the wall as well as some seating in the back area. I'm not sure how big the place is as we only went straight to the bar and sat down. The menu is printed to resemble vintage newspaper. The dark mysterious room with tufted seats and dim lights is what this place is all about. But of course you can't leave out the drinks. Centered of the bar wall, there's Udo Kier watching you. Anyways, down to the drinks. Printed on the newspaper was a perfect touch. I went with the pisco sour and we had the bartender make something else with mescal. An updated smoke and mirror I believe. Drinks were excellent which we expected. The whole place is really dark and mysterious which was a nice touch. It wasn't that busy when we arrived Friday night. A couple of people in the back area which we definitely could hear...lol... There was no list to get in as we just walked in. The only downfall with the rating, the rude remark when we walked in with shutting the door all the way from the bar area. Yes we heard it from outside. There were two bartenders working , but we did chat with one of them and she was a sweetheart. Informed us that they too will be closed down for the summer holiday but will be renovating. Places out here closes at least a month for summer holidays and with the slow season due to the heat. First impression of this place, besides the rude remark was we really liked it. The drinks were great and tasty. It's not super big but more intimate. Can get a little loud as people are talking over each other. Could be the alcohol.... It's someplace I would visit again with people who I know will appreciate it.

Some longer than others so it's really nice for restaurants to be back. We did have a meal just before they closed for their break so to be back for another meal, it was nice. Majority of the places tend to open back up around Labor Day weekend as that's when the crowds do trickle back in. Fast forward to the past weekend, we stopped by for brunch. I personally love having a meal along the patio as it's great for people watching. But let me tell you, it was a bit too hot even along the covered patio with mister. All the seating is covered one way or another. The front patio along the restaurant does have mister coming down while the opposite patio that's along the street does not. It is covered though. Out of all the times we've been here, this was the first time having a meal inside the restaurant. It's a cute quaint place. Fun mid century vibe with a nice bar to one side. Also they do have a cute set up whenever you want to host a brunch or something similar. The staffs are always so sweet and friendly. Everyone is so welcoming which that is amazing for places. Then comes the food. We've mainly only been for brunch which is alway great. Menu does change for lunch and dinner. But for now, we've only had brunch and it's alway delicious. Everything we've had has always been fresh and delicious. And for drinks, they do have a full bar I believe. We tend to stick to either the bubbly specials with the mixed berries and three juice options or Bloody Mary. Both, very good. This visit, we opted for the Bloody Mary. Nothing fancy but delicious and with an added slice of bacon. Food wise, the ricotta orange pancake is delicious. House made ricotta pancakes with blueberries, mandarin oranges, whipped cream, powdered sugar and maple syrup on the side. A full meal on its own but also a good sweet addition to a meal. The chicken sandwich, grilled chicken with romaine lettuce, tomato, mozzarella, avocado, mix onion and fried bell peppers on toasted sour dough. Served with a side which their fries are delicious. That itself is pretty massive and very flavorful and delicious. Lastly a build your own omelette with mushrooms, spinach and cheeses. Served with a side salad. Besides build your own, they also have some creations that I've had and are quite delicious. The food has alway been great each and every time. As we've only mainly been for brunch, everything has always been delicious. Service is amazing and the staffs are alway so friendly. It's one of our go to for brunch.

I forgot his name but the bartender was very nice and you could tell he likes his job. We got there and ordered a drink, and we're lucky enough to get a free order of some delicious bread sticks. The drink was very tasty for a decent price, so I would come back for more drinks.

It caught our attention as we had stayed in two different Kimpton Hotels in Seattle prior. We wanted to grab a drink at the Window Bar (not knowing that was its actual name, but the conversation we had with the bartender about that window shining too much light at certain parts of the morning definitely gave me a chuckle in hindsight). We happened to be a bit early since he had not been able to finish setting up shop yet. We went ahead and waited until he was ready without rushing him because we ourselves weren't in any rush at all. Surrounded by a ton of nice interesting artwork, it was a pure joy to enjoy a drink or two in this environment. The bar can be found at the corner on the other side of the hotel concierge in plain sight from such a big space for a lobby, directly left upon entrance through the front. Since it was slow in the morning, we were able to chat it up with the bartender and even explore a bit of experimentation in the form of a particular top secret cocktail that every mixologist knows. I definitely exercised my etiquette and reading the conditions to even suggest it. He couldn't be any nicer about our time with him. So yeah, Christopher H. from 9/9/18, I don't know what you're talking about. I make it a point to visit the bar at any Kimpton location nowadays. I always seem to have a good time. But then again, I can only speak for myself. Parking: Street, unless you're a guest at the hotel. FYI: - Despite the hours on Yelp saying this place is open from 4-10pm, they might open earlier, as we joined in at around 11am or noon. But don't hold me to it. If there's somebody at the bar, you'll need to simply ask if it is open yet.
