The food is phenomenal! I got a caprese salad and seafood chowder and they were both better than expected. The waitstaff are very attentive, The price is very good for what you get and the view is just beautiful. Overall 5 star experience!

No need to speak the language when the vibe is right.

I love this restaurant! I'm definitely coming back, and bringing friends. The service, food quality, and the atmosphere are all top notch. The beach is beautiful and really relaxing to listen to as you chat with your friends. I highly recommend Sunset Lounge Playas.

This beachfront restaurant caught my eye on Trip Advisor, and we walked all the way from one end of the beach in Tijuana to the other to find it and make sure we could get a table! When you enter the restaurant (you have to find it by walking on the street side-- you'll miss it if you try to find it on the boardwalk) it feels like you're entering a high-class garden oasis. There are many beautiful plants and waterfalls to welcome you inside. Looking into the restaurant at the table area, it's easy to see that Sunset is one of the highest-class restaurants on the beach. Sunset wasn't very busy at lunch time (which confused me because it looked amazing), so we got a seat on the lower outdoor balcony as soon as we came in. This balcony has an unobstructed view of the sand and the ocean (but you can also hear all the noise coming from the beach below). If you would like a quieter experience, the upstairs has floor to ceiling windows looking out at the beach as well. Not everyone likes seafood, but Sunset is more than a seafood restaurant. It's more like a fancier and more Mexican version of the Cheese Cake Factory, where the menu has everything from surf and turf to traditional Mexican dishes. The menu is entirely in spanish, and there aren't very many pictures, so it can be a bit difficult to decipher if you don't speak the language (I had to translate for everyone at the table). Wait time is very short, alcoholic drinks are good--I recommend the mango Margherita--and appetizers are delicious. I ordered some calamari, and it was one of the crispiest and most flavourful dishes I've had in a while. They come with two dipping sauces that are house made. You also get a basket of bread with garlic butter while you wait for the main course. I order salmon pretty much everywhere I go, so I put in one order of salmon and replaced the pasta with Spanish Rice and mashed potatoes (they gave me other choices but I love my starch). When the plate came out after a very short wait, it looked like a work of art. The chefs here are very experienced platers, and use crisp, fried cheese as a beautiful garnish. The plate also comes with spinach and cooked purple cabbage. Eating this beautiful plate in a gorgeous setting translated to an automatic 4 stars. My only complaint is that, while the salmon was crisp on top, it was pretty undercooked inside. Each restaurant has their own standards for cooking fish, but at this one, I feel like it was kind of raw. At least it was fresh :) Those are just my salmon preferences, and the steak we had was cooked well, so my experience may not reflect yours. Overall, I had a good experience here and would recommend it, and would return again.

    Mushy crab cake! Nasty!

One star for the view.....otherwise this place is a dump in disguise. Don't let the semi nice decor fool you. Food was a mess. Crab cakes one big mush. Service was like pulling teeth. Let's not mention that upon receiving our salads we were told our table was reserved for someone who was going to propose to his girlfriend. WOW!!! In other words never mind us, never mind our plans for the evening! This is something that should have been figured out before we were half way into our meal. At that point we were disgusted and asked for our check, the manager/owner asked why we were leaving!? Bizarre.....you tell us basically to hurry up and then wonder why we are leaving. 15% off our check does not make up for our ruined meal. Such horrible customer service. Btw....we sat with broken glass under our feet for the duration of our stay. Gnats flew around our table the whole time. Attention to detail was never there. Sorry! Will never never be back!

It was very delicious. Will definitely recommend the lounge. the costumer service is A+. The parking is small, but they have someone that will park and rearrange your vehicle as is needed.

Sunset is a solid place. The staff is great, views are great, and the wine selection is ok. Relaxed and quiet atmosphere, a great place to meet friends or conduct business. The food is good (not great), a couple of his are cajun salmon and arrachera.

Overall, it was a very good experience, but not quite a 5-star visit. The food was fresh and delicious, and you can tell they use quality ingredients. While we waited for our meal, they brought out a complimentary dessert and fresh fruit plate, which was a thoughtful touch and a nice surprise. One thing to keep in mind is that they don't allow outside drinks. Our server politely informed us that my daughter couldn't have her Gatorade inside the restaurant. It wasn't a huge deal, but I wish there was a little more flexibility for families with young kids. The other reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the seasoning. While the food was good, I felt it needed a little more flavor. Maybe our taste buds in the U.S. are just used to stronger seasoning, but I found myself wishing for a bit more salt and seasoning to really make the dishes pop. Overall, the food quality is excellent, the complimentary fruit and dessert were a nice touch, and I can definitely see why this place is so popular. I'd still recommend giving it a try and would come back the next time I'm in Rosarito.
