The food is phenomenal! I got a caprese salad and seafood chowder and they were both better than expected. The waitstaff are very attentive, The price is very good for what you get and the view is just beautiful. Overall 5 star experience!

No need to speak the language when the vibe is right.

I love this restaurant! I'm definitely coming back, and bringing friends. The service, food quality, and the atmosphere are all top notch. The beach is beautiful and really relaxing to listen to as you chat with your friends. I highly recommend Sunset Lounge Playas.

Salmon with rice and potatoes instead of pasta

This beachfront restaurant caught my eye on Trip Advisor, and we walked all the way from one end of the beach in Tijuana to the other to find it and make sure we could get a table! When you enter the restaurant (you have to find it by walking on the street side-- you'll miss it if you try to find it on the boardwalk) it feels like you're entering a high-class garden oasis. There are many beautiful plants and waterfalls to welcome you inside. Looking into the restaurant at the table area, it's easy to see that Sunset is one of the highest-class restaurants on the beach. Sunset wasn't very busy at lunch time (which confused me because it looked amazing), so we got a seat on the lower outdoor balcony as soon as we came in. This balcony has an unobstructed view of the sand and the ocean (but you can also hear all the noise coming from the beach below). If you would like a quieter experience, the upstairs has floor to ceiling windows looking out at the beach as well. Not everyone likes seafood, but Sunset is more than a seafood restaurant. It's more like a fancier and more Mexican version of the Cheese Cake Factory, where the menu has everything from surf and turf to traditional Mexican dishes. The menu is entirely in spanish, and there aren't very many pictures, so it can be a bit difficult to decipher if you don't speak the language (I had to translate for everyone at the table). Wait time is very short, alcoholic drinks are good--I recommend the mango Margherita--and appetizers are delicious. I ordered some calamari, and it was one of the crispiest and most flavourful dishes I've had in a while. They come with two dipping sauces that are house made. You also get a basket of bread with garlic butter while you wait for the main course. I order salmon pretty much everywhere I go, so I put in one order of salmon and replaced the pasta with Spanish Rice and mashed potatoes (they gave me other choices but I love my starch). When the plate came out after a very short wait, it looked like a work of art. The chefs here are very experienced platers, and use crisp, fried cheese as a beautiful garnish. The plate also comes with spinach and cooked purple cabbage. Eating this beautiful plate in a gorgeous setting translated to an automatic 4 stars. My only complaint is that, while the salmon was crisp on top, it was pretty undercooked inside. Each restaurant has their own standards for cooking fish, but at this one, I feel like it was kind of raw. At least it was fresh :) Those are just my salmon preferences, and the steak we had was cooked well, so my experience may not reflect yours. Overall, I had a good experience here and would recommend it, and would return again.

Mushy crab cake! Nasty!

One star for the view.....otherwise this place is a dump in disguise. Don't let the semi nice decor fool you. Food was a mess. Crab cakes one big mush. Service was like pulling teeth. Let's not mention that upon receiving our salads we were told our table was reserved for someone who was going to propose to his girlfriend. WOW!!! In other words never mind us, never mind our plans for the evening! This is something that should have been figured out before we were half way into our meal. At that point we were disgusted and asked for our check, the manager/owner asked why we were leaving!? Bizarre.....you tell us basically to hurry up and then wonder why we are leaving. 15% off our check does not make up for our ruined meal. Such horrible customer service. Btw....we sat with broken glass under our feet for the duration of our stay. Gnats flew around our table the whole time. Attention to detail was never there. Sorry! Will never never be back!

It was very delicious. Will definitely recommend the lounge. the costumer service is A+. The parking is small, but they have someone that will park and rearrange your vehicle as is needed.

Sunset is a solid place. The staff is great, views are great, and the wine selection is ok. Relaxed and quiet atmosphere, a great place to meet friends or conduct business. The food is good (not great), a couple of his are cajun salmon and arrachera.

They just opened this past January. Right at the entrance we were wonderfully greeted by Angel and Ariana. We both were in our yoga pants and t-shirts(had we known we would have dressed up a little nicer lol) yet they were super accommodating and made sure we got the best view of the TV in the patio area so we could freely root for our beloved Warriors! Atmosphere: welcoming, cute, romantic...we loved it! Service: many thumbs up! Our server Andres was nice and attentive, when we had questions he couldn't answer about the food, he went and brought out Chef Leonardo, who graciously answered our questions. Food: -vegetable soup was simple and so comforting and tast perfect to my tast buds, I ate every drop of it. I can taste the freshness of all the vegetables -salmon and grilled veggies were cooked to perfection. The flavor of butter/lemon, texture, and freshness was superb, probably one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had. Simple and delish. -instead of dessert I ordered fresh squeezed orange juice, making sure they didn't add sugar. It was so refreshing and fresh indeed -my gf ordered the filet steak with veggies, the meat was so frkn tender! It also came with a side salad so she got Mediterranean. -she also ordered a margarita, which our server brought out the tequila so she could have a little tast before confirming the order. I didn't have any but it smelled wonderful and my girlfriend said it was light and good. -she also ordered the grilled banana dessert that soaked in some kind of liquor and fruit marmalade with vanilla ice cream,I just had a little tast of the banana and thought it was just ok. My girlfriend killed it. Price: we split the bill and including tip, it came out to $25 per person. Coming from California that is a sweet deal for this type of dining(I would consider it 2-3 dollar sign dining). We even tipped the host Angel as he was kind enough to come check on us as well and doing lots of translating. He said he is working on translating the menu into English, yay! (Sorry Ariana, we would've tipped you too but you had left already) The owner, Aaron, happened to be there and came to greet us. Super nice guy and we wish all the best for such a wonderful restaurant! Overall it was a fun and satisfying experience, and the Warriorors WON!!! We will surely be back on our next visit! :)

Furthermore, my husband is a vegetarian and we walked miles to find a decent place to have lunch. We had the Tacos Vegetariano and Pulpo and the Salmon Camperini. It was absolutely exquisite! The server Andres and the staff are all great too. The place has a chic decor and is squeaky clean. I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and music as well. We are here from Glendora, California because my husband is being treated for cancer at the HOPE4CANCER center and regularly have to come back. I can't wait to come again and treat ourselves to another exquisite experience!

Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and made with care. The meats were juicy and flavorful, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the portions were generous. You can really taste the quality in every bite. It's so nice to see a local spot elevate like this. If you haven't been in a while, definitely give them another try. The new management is doing a fantastic job, and I'll definitely be back!

The meat and rice were both good, I didn't have any of the issues I'm seeing in other reviews with the meat being dry or anything, all the meat was solid and good. The hummus was also good. The bad: this was the second time I had eaten from here and I had the same experience both times: the meat n rice were good, solid. But the vegetables and sauces were low quality and kinda poorly made. The tomatoes and onions were poorly roasted and the yogurt sauce wasn't very good. These are the little details that can make a huge difference and boost an eating experience from good to great. I will certainly be eating here again, BUT, it will be under pretty specific circumstances, like feeding a lot of people. I will have a hard time choosing this for a lunch or dinner over other places in east county that are a bit better on the margins

Parking is very easy as the lot is very big. They are usually empty during lunch time, so not usually too long of a wait. My go too is the beef schwarma lunch special, it includes the schwarma, rice, salad and hummus. You can add on bread for an extra cost and it's a bigger than your head. The schwarma is seasoned very well, and not chewy. The rice is also very good, and flavorful. The hummus is one of my favorites, although this time it was a little thicker than usual. I love the dressing they use on the salad, I could eat a whole bowl of the stuff. The salad had a lot of cucumber, cut in big chunks, which is how i like it. The bread is enough for 2 people at least, so i would keep that in mind. 2 of us shared it and we still had some left over that we couldn't finish. The portions in general are very big, for me it was enough to dance leftovers of everything except the salad. I think this is a must to try if you live nearby, or even if you are just in the area, i don't think you will be disappointed.
