August 18/2015: A solo breakfast…read more Tiny little diner. Less than 50 seats for customers with an old style 50' theme. I ordered the Eggs Benedict ($17.25). Small serving but not bad taste wise. My server was very nice but wouldn't allow me to take advantage of the breakfast specials because I was there at 11:10 & the specials expired at 11:00, which I kinda understood. I found that to be a rather chinchy move in my opinion. Nothing to write home for food. It didn't really offer anything special but it was good. Peameal bacon was nicely done. I doubt I'd go again, there's not enough of a uniqueness to warrant another visit.

You can check the status of the lineup with the link texted to you. Once your table's ready, you'll receive a text message with 10 minutes grace per. There are 7 booths and 5 bar chairs available for dine-in. The menu feels different from a typical diner and offers great variety of comfort food and drinks. We ordered "Sweet Potato Salad", "Southern Breakfast", and "Hot Turkey". The Southern Breakfast was a filling plate with eggs, bacon, grits, gravy, fermented greens and their famous buttermilk biscuit, while the Hot Turkey was a really interesting combination of stuffing French toast, smoked turkey, gravy, cranberry chutney and maple butter. The Sweet Potato Salad was a nice side to balance out the heavier dishes, and everything had that homemade comfort-food feel. The staff are friendly and helpful and there's Green P parking available on Queen East.

Not sure if we just ordered the wrong thing or if their mains are bad…read more We ordered the Hashbrowns, the Buttermilk Biscuits, and the Hot Turkey. The Hashbrowns were actually very good! Really crispy and delicious, they were definitely prepared well and hit the spot. I couldn't have asked for better hashbrowns. The buttermilk biscuits were also really fluffy and tasted good. No complaints here. The Hot Turkey French Toast however... I think they should remove this off the menu. We ordered it because it sounded interesting and we like to think of ourselves as adventurous foodies, but oh wow this was bad! We ate 2 bites each and couldn't eat more. Its just really dense and fatty and the gravy is way too overpowering and the flavors just don't go together. We were starving and hadn't eaten all day and couldn't get ourselves to eat more than 2 bites because we were frankly disgusted. It tasted really bad. DO NOT ORDER THIS. We came for a 2pm lunch on a Tuesday, and they told us the wait would be around 15-20mins which we said was fine. However, we ended up waiting 40mins, and we suspect that they let other people in front of us (told there were 2 parties of 2 in front of us but let in 3 parties). It gave diner vibes but was definitely more cramped. Was busier than I expected on a random Tuesday at 2pm. Low rating is for the awful main and the longer-than-promised wait time. But I do have to give them credit for the tasty apps. We might've just ordered the wrong thing on the menu but we're not coming back to find out, especially if the wait will always be this long.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

WE ORDERED: - Liver and onions with bacon was pretty good; judging by the comments made by hubby, we will be coming back for this. - Side Salad - lettuce was limp, not the freshest. I would recommend getting a different side. - Saganaki - not only was this a yummy appetizer, the show was entertaining.
